Indeed. They never used a laugh track for any of their sketches. If the audience didn't laugh they didn't show it, so this is all genuine.

it is a studio audience every episode of monty python is filmed and showed before a live audience except when a skit only needs a studio location. than the audiences reaction to the videos as well as the live performances are recorded and edited together making the final product.
