  • Practice make perfect haha fucking gio smiling

  • idiots...where is the RN?

  • This is soooo unprofessional - even if they are in training they should take it more seriously and treat each other as real patients. I hope my practices are more professional than this!!

  • what a bunch of idiots!! i hope my clinicals are more professional!!

  • I am a phlebotomist and when you are new, depending on who

Trained you, these things happen. If you have the butterfly in a slight bit

deeper, you can let go of it and it will stay. I had this happen to me in the beginning as well. It's not as simple as it may look to draw blood.

  • i hate how everyone is being so critical. Everybody acts like phlebotomy is supposed to be easy. Its his first time, you cant expect people to be able to get this stuff right off the bat. Thats why they PRACTICE. sheesh

  • You messed up. You didn't do a good job.

  • Juicy Vein!! <3

  • Damn, I'm thinking about getting a certified degree for this. Not anymore!

  • the clown didnt even know what vein was the Median or Cephalic. Then he let the butterfly go. You are supposed to hold it. In Phlebotomy now and I wouldnt let this kid draw on me

  • the clown didnt even know what vein was the Median or Cephalic. Then he let the butterfly go. You are supposed to hold it.

  • The tourniquet cant be on for more than a minute. That particular person had M veins rather than H which means you should be extra careful drawing. Butterfly really shouldnt be used like that either. Butterfly=10 degree angle. ETS=45 degree angle

  • why would you use a butterfly needle for that draw? i always use an ETS or a syringe. butterflys are prone to slip out, i save those for hand draws.

  • I'm a phlebotomist that aced my finals and graduated at the top of my class. The tourniquet was left on the arm extemely to long which can cause altered lab results and can even blow the vein. The needle fell out either because it was not pushed in far enough or because of the pressure that built up due to the tourniquet being left on for too long. I wouldn't want this person drawing my blood!

  • later he died

  • we weren't allowed to practice on anyone in school. Some of the staff on clinical placement let me try on them and my 8 year old daughter let me do it on her after paying her 5 bucks.

  • Not a big deal in school. Happens quite often.

  • haha thats how you learn in school it was thier first time and its IN SCHOOL so chill out!!!! thats how you learn you do it on students with each other thats what we did and Im sure the rest of you did too

  • No way! Using a butterfly on a vein like this should not have "gone wrong". Even I could be successful on venipuncture with these veins.

  • i remember i was getting blood drawn once, and when the nurse was pulling the constricting band off, she somehow managed to lose her balance, and the needle flipped up and went horizontally all the way into my arm. that was the weirdest feeling ever.

  • that may have been his first time but damn that was bad... shoot my first vien stick was on a 250lbs dog while it was trying to bight my arm off... i made the stick the first time... wow... Now on to the humans... lol

  • that may have been his first time but damn that was bad... shoot my first vien stick was on a 250lbs dog while it was trying to bight my arm off... i made the stick the first time... wow... Now on to the humans... lol

  • Tech school grrrrrr! The cephalic is the vien that lines with the thumb. The medium cubical is the most common and it is alined in the center of the upper forearm.

  • Wow. They acted like idiots. "Oh look at that vein! Oh!" No wonder this blood drawing went wrong.

  • epic fail....

  • im a certified phleb. and ive had that happen to me before when i was in training... take the tourniquet off first then get gauze to put over the site then swiftly remove the needle and apply pressure.

  • you guys dont even know cephalic vs median cubital and youre doing draws?

  • LOL, one time I missed the arm and got the lady's boob. Instead of blood I got milk

  • @jennmeto omg. I would had felt soo bad if that was me, but after im sure a laugh would had come from it

  • Comment removed

  • do you practice on prosthetic arms before working on people? or do you just watch the professor and then do it? cuz i'd be scared doing that on a person!!!!!!!

  • you guys are at the point where your doing butterflies and you dont even know the difference between the basilic (which is over a nerver and artery) and the median cubital ....

  • First off, you should never do an vein-puncture without cleaning from inward to outward.

Second, Never let your wing infusion go AKA Butterfly. Look at the base of the needle when your

Doing a vein-puncture because it will show a little blood in the needle and you know your in.

Just hold it in place and then fell up your tubes. Its Very easy I did then when I was 18 teen years old,

Now I am 20 going more into Biomedical Research. I find it more intriguing.

  • If you are in further than 2mm you can let go of the butterfly. These guys wernt in nearly far enough, and that monster vein pushed the needle back out. But once you get in with the butterfly, you can absolutely let go of it and start filling your tubes.

  • ok so if theres blood...u obviously hit the vein...dnt be scared.....ugh

  • seriously what a dumb ass your never supposed to let the needle go always hold on to the needle and dont take the needle out first obviously take off the tourniquet ..

  • another sugesstion is to hold the needle in one hand , and inserting the tubes in another. Dont let the hand the hold the needle move AT ALL!!!!!

  • Question for the students: Quote: "Can you miss that one?"

Actually yes it's very easy to miss: leave the band on too tight, too long, don't anchor that roller and stick away. Big fat venis can actually be hard to control.

Suggestion: put the tourniquet on and poke at it with only your fingers a few times. Make sure you understand how to anchor that monster so it doesn't roll out of sight before you go after it with the steel.

  • All they needed to do was go in further with the needle and at less of an angle. The vein was staying right in place.

  • @smartin108 yup, you cant overthink the location, just probe it and go !

  • Notice how LONNNG they left the tourniquet on his arm--poor guy!!!!

  • every student misses. thats why you practice. even the best nurses and lab technicians suck when they were students.

  • @albrechtcen doctors are horrible at it, even nurses need some lessons sometimes, leave it to the pros..US lol

  • I wouldnt let any of these juvenile animals near my blood.

  • it's just blood :-)

  • im skared for the patients of these students....

  • there was nothing wrong with that venipuncture its just the the needle came out because the phlebotomist wasn't holding the needle in place.

  • I am scared of needles, do you have any advice

  • the next time you go to the doctor's place while they're putting the needle in you can listen to music on an mp3 real loud and keep your eyes closed till its over. :D

  • This is my advice, if you are gonna get your blood drawn tell the guy to draw your blood from your median cubital. it wont hurt a bit.

  • You can tell them that but sometimes depending on the pt, the median can be hard to feel. The last thing you want is a blind stick right down the middle...

  • of course they didnt clean it theyre dirty mexicans

  • LMAOOOOOOOO the best comment I heard all week. Its 110% true, dirty mexicans

  • Oh my god, is that guy going to die?

  • Did you clean the site at all before the veinipuncture? I didn't see anything.

  • I don't know how the hell you graduated!

  • Good first try! Everybody (even experienced phlebs) mess up sometimes. Don't listen to the rude comments. It's a brave thing to publicize your first try...I wouldn't dream of it (mine was UGLY lol).

  • hell if I wanna make someone lose blood all I need is a baseball bat and a bit of space and a good swing to the person's nose, hit the person with the bat and you got blood in the water.

  • wow! these students are idiots. they should study med terminology and theory before being let loose like this.

  • chil that was his very very very first time.....as in his first stick ever haha

  • @metalmasterk WHO CARES ABOUT IF ITS HIS FIRST TIME STICKING!!! this is sick, discusting and unprofessional. the class room is out of control, everybody is laughing and acting stupid and ignorant, and they are not taking it seriously. SILLY UNEDUCATED VIDEO!!!!

  • @adam411c their training on each other. that's how they practice. you're an idiot.

  • I almost puked at the last five seconds of this video. How could you smile and be so chill about it? I would have barfed all over the phlebotomy person.

  • idk i just did, its no biggie for me, its just like a stab or a pinch and that's it

  • @metalmasterk like a stab? lol sounds awesome.

  • hahahaha stupid asses left the tourniquest on long and fucked up big time doing the butterfly

  • this has to be in china, they are going against all protocal in venipuncture

  • haha actually its cali, san fernando valley, i'm the guy they're sticking

  • god you guys left the torneque on for ever. bet you had a good bruise after that. i've seen students do alot worse than that. i dont lend my arm anymore for practice, acctually i dont let anyone take my blood anymore, i do it myself, lest i know what im doing, others scare me!

  • actually...i didnt! haha i lent my arm to everyone haha its just a kneedle nothing big haha

  • OMG! You obviously don't know what you are doing! You NEVER ask the patient what vein you should go for!

  • i'm the "patient" haha and well, it was our first time doing it haha, chill haha

  • I couldn't tell at the end, did he puncture the vein and the blood started leaking out under the skin in a hematoma? Because like, wow. I think I need to watch that again o___o; I stick patients in a hospital tuesday and of course I wanna stand clear of that.

  • I ask them all the time which vein the prefer. AND PS: I do know what Im doing. Why hunt when the pt's can tell you where to find it.

  • that's true, people a lot of the time tell you where they've gotten blood out of them before!

  • so easy.........

  • @mvalenzuella i agree! ask, they know best....

  • That dumbass sticking needs a reclass on sticking. From the looks of it she stuck that guy with the bevel down when its suppose to be up. You can tell cause when using a butterfly the wings are suppose be against the skin so they can fold up. If you look close the wings are facing up and impossible to fold. I'm surprised that no one has cought that. Feel sorry for people if she's out there sticking people.

  • yeah its our first day doing it and it was a guy sticking the other guy(me) haha it doesn't hurt i actually enjoyed it haha

  • median is the middle stupid...what school you guys went to???? go to HCC at milpitas cali so i could teach you the right way.

  • actually there are TWO "medians", median cephalic (right in the middle), median cubital (the biggest one here, medial to median cephalic) and the auxiliary cephalic which often merges with the median cephalic proximal to the antecubital fossa.

And a plain ol' vacutainer adapter with a 21 x 1" is cheapest, quickest and best unless a very difficult vein presents. Butterfly needles are costly, have shorter bevels and are generally of small gauge.

  • stupid, u dont have to use a butterfly needle! the vein is very prominent! it only shows that you dont know what you are doing! Poor patient.

  • dude relax haha it was our first day doing it haha back in march of 08

  • All the person did was forget to tape down the butterfly device and is popped out. Learn from this.

  • Fuck, this is funny.

  • yall fuckin stupid lol forreal

wh0 ever was drawin dat persons B^lo0d

da butterfly needles are f0r small viens yall fuckin dumb^ asses lma0 yall were actin stupid

yall dont kn0 wat da fuck yall were doin lol

  • First of all - proper english would be nice.

And second - It really doesn't matter the size of the vein due to the fact that there are several sizes of butterfly needles. So Butterfly needles aren't necessarily for small veins.

  • the basilic is the last option you should have if you can locate the median or cephalic your best option would be the median it's the most common vein to draw a veni from

  • the basilic can be a pain. i have had more trouble with those veins than any other vein. i drew the palm of the hand once, that was sweet!

  • cephalic is radial side, basilic is ulnar. I would have done the cephalic it was more stable, and less likley to roll being located ontop of the radius.
