If nothing was happening between Jackie and that other guy, then why was she being so defensive about it when Dan came along?

This is when Fred really got on my nerves.So Jackie went out dancing with a girlfriend. Granted, she and Fred never really saw eye to eye because they didn't know each other that well before they got married. Jackie may had been a mom and a wife, but I guess it hit her on why she had to settle that much. She missed the way her old life use to be, when she use to go out, when she use to have fun, be adventurous. Fred was boring. Then when they got divorced, all of a sudden he became adventurous.

The excuse either/both of them used was that they didn't get to know each other before they got married. If you remember other episodes. Especially the one about them having sex in places other than the bedroom. Fred always took the relationship more seriously than Jackie did. They were never on the same page. I say you can be out with absolutely anyone without the other person. It's not about where you go, it's what you do. And the "what" has to be sexual for it to be wrong in the first place.

Was it ever, though? I'll bet in the fictional world of Roseanne, there are a LOT fewer drunk-driving fatalities too. Except for that guy in season...1(?) who came in the bar drunk and said- "what do you and your fat wife think'a my new hat?!" He probably ran down 4 children in Power Wheels cars, 2 old people, and 28 little kitties and puppies that night. With the jerk who wanted to dance with Crystal in the 3rd season Halloween episode riding shotgun with him.

What would you do to about it, though? We all know what a push-over he is. And Roseanne said (season 3, episode 5) - "let him live in ignorance. Men love that!" Besides, it's really cute how clingy he is. All she has to do to get him to want her to go out without him is to pressure him into having sex in public again. He'll understand then that she has needs.

Of course, if it were me... I'd get someone else to watch the kid, drag him to the bedroom, tie him up, and ROCK his world!

This is just a tv show, you know that. If you think television is real life- maybe it's not cute to you. But, it's actually very cute. Because he isn't realistic. A real guy in his position would either avoid women like Roseanne altogether - and he gets along great with Roseanne - or he would have revealed himself to be a Fisher-clone an entire season before this.
