  • Amazing album , whenever i listen to this album it blows my mind off . Worst album cover though . A gold egg head on a table with a light beam from his mouth seriously ?

  • i clicked this on accident

    im glad i did:)

  • Acid is one hell of a drug...

  • A lucid dream in musical form.

  • @noname02905 Hit the nail right on the head. I've actually experience one, and this song ominously fits it. Seriously...

  • biutiful.

  • @ChickieBlack espectácular

  • Well, it's late and I'm tired...This is fuckin perfect right now.

  • I really LOVE The Mars Volta and just today I've fund this band Frenetic Affair: freneticaffair.bandcamp.com/album/portrait-of-a-man-2

They're not bad, but I mean, how can u plagiarize another band in this way?? -.-' (give ear to the 4th song)

  • @ssspacedust

Just did. Pure rip off (the 4th song anyway). They have basically copy and pasted the Eriatarka melody.

  • @iTubeYourDadsMinge idk. i just listened to it and i didn't hear anything especially eriatarka-ish about it

  • This is a crazy ass soung its also very awosome!!

  • my friend forced me to listen to this album, He fought for a week to get this CD back, I went out and bought it, next week i forced another friend to give it a try, took me 2 week to get it back from him. He bought it, left it in his brothers car and it took him a month to get it back. His brother buys the CD and his GF snagged it out of his car and didn't get it back until they broke up. This album has magical powers....

  • the chorus is what poetry is all about

  • It also has the best chorus in the history of ever.

  • @dlsNi Yup , I totally agree with you on that one. The chorus is fucking superb.

  • i mean there is really nothing to say, this shit is sooooooo amazing, it leaves u in a whole other universe (free from Beiber, and GaGa) and elavates ur mind.

  • I swear, they're so fucking amazing. I cream my granny panties every time I hear this song.

  • This song is amazing. Can't even explain it.

  • Amor!

  • Although it's hard to have a favorite Mars Volta song, I would have to say this might just be my favorite! Amazingly beautiful harmonies at work here as well as some truly bad ass effects within bridges! TMV for life!!

  • Such a beautiful fucking song...

  • damn good album!

  • damn good song

  • Six Minutes and Twenty-Two seconds of frisson.

  • This song is breathtaking, literally...

  • beautiful song!

  • good song

  • Just g2 say I was the 420th person to like this, and I was high!!!!!!

  • 2 people are deaf

  • thumbs if you still have the original album with the alternate artwork

  • i was stuck in traffic yesterday on the way to school and put on deloused. The second the traffic cleared i hit 80 in a 40 in my ford explorer when the chorus of this came i was air drumming like fucking crazy easily my favourite on the album

  • Awesome song from an amazing album.

  • im listening to TMV right now cuz the fucking MTV awards are on and its wack as fuck

  • Mars Volta is the shit, and the dislike bar is as big as justin biebers penius. NO HOMO -_-

  • One of the greatest albums ever, of any genre.

  • I almost wonder if the guys in this band listened to Rush at all, because it seems like I'm hearing some Rush influence in their songs. Great song thanks for the upload.

  • @RoCk4LiFe90 No doubt they were inspired by some early Rush albums, like 2112 through Hemispheres. If you listen to Cygnus X-1 from Rush, if TMV wrote that song it would fit right into what they are doing, or were anyway. TMV is not a prog band anymore. Their last album and all the new songs Ive heard are more pop/rock oriented.

  • @trenken I was thinking about Cygnus x-1 when I wrote that comment haha. Btw are you a member of TRF?

  • Comment removed

  • @trenken I thought you were, I'm Dobner has assumed control. Rush is my all time favorite as well.

  • love summer ...

  • This whole album is 60+ mins. of pure bliss. Their other releases are good but man, this is a masterpiece. Experimental prog at it's best!

  • This music should be an opening for people who don't really know what Progressive Rock is, if you guys love Mars Volta you should really check out their influences. Go look up the album "red" by King Crimson on youtube, and prepare for your head to explode.

Thumbs up if you agree with me at all so more people can be opened up to complex and delicately created music.

  • @VirtualDynamite I completely agree with you; I saw them opening for System of a Down years ago, and they opened my eyes (ears) to a complete other musical world. I will always be gratefull to them for that.

  • This was the first TMV song I was obsessed with. I know it's kinda lame but thanks to Get Him To The Greek I took an intrest in them. Im a dumbass for not picking them up way earlier but I can honestly say I've never regretted it since nor will I ever. I fucking love TMV and all of Omar's side projects too.

  • i remember listening to this years ago in high school sitting and talking with my friends over the green.. man, the conversations this shit would inspire. great band, great musicians.. brings back a lot of really great memories and inspiring so much intellectuality as an adolescent. thanks a ton for the upload.

  • I'm not sure where I read it--Rolling Stone, or some guitar mag, tell me if i misquote this, but somewhere I read some critic called TMV

    {"This generations' "Led Zeppelin"}

I'm sure he meant well by it, but I mean....NO ONE has EVER or WILL EVER sound like The Mars Volta!!!

  • @gadammit69 maybe he meant that led zeppelin was as innovative in the early 1970s as TMV was in the 2000s.

  • god this is soooo good. brings back great memories. thanks for the upload

  • seen um live at brixton academy best band i ever seen fkn amazing!Thia album is fantastic

  • Damn, I love every aspect of this song.

  • I find the guitarist and the guitar work for the Mars Volta to be of the most useless to learn, retarded to know, bullshit to study shit that has every come along for guitarists to study.

that is why every guitarist should study it.

  • Oh man that opening is fucking SEXY.

  • this song and album don't get old. ever.

  • Ah man.. this album brings back memories... Saw them before I had ever even heard of them, they opened for Perfect Circle. Blew me away, Omar throwing his guitar down during a song, it was amazing! Only rpoblem was that some of the fans for PC freaking starting chanting for them while Mars Volta was on stage it was messed up... (and then while PC was out on stage the crowd couldn't keep the beat lol... pretty dumb really).. anyways.. I went out and got this ablum like the next day.. greatness

  • i mean its simple. if you dislike mars volta, i dont like you. thanks for making that choice easy.....

  • @evilgoodness1 Shut the fuck up you piece of shit, Mars Volta is garbage.

  • @Constantine909 he dont like u either, hahaha

  • Daaaaamn...those lyrics are insane!!!

but anyways, this is song is one of my favorite ear-gasms...

  • awesome and usual song writing. indescribable

  • 2:08 !!!

  • Great music, terrible lyrics.

  • @BadReligion93 They just don't make much sense to me.

  • awesome

  • Love this song!!!

  • The verses in this song are a real treat. Omar has that echoey delay on his guitar and Cedric's vocals have so much heart.

    Awesome song.

  • sound quality of this video is awesome thanks for uploading

  • after listening to this band you wonder how you survived without them EARGASM

  • THE BEST SONG EVER PUTOS VIVA MEXICO

  • @hechoenmexico01 De una puto! :D JAJAJ viva argentina!!

  • This song is the shit!

  • The Mars Volta is one of the best bands ever. No one has ever sounded like them or would dare to try. I wish I could go back and rediscover this band again cause it was a pleasure.

  • @greatgregmurf If you check out The Mahavishnu Orchestra, you'll see where these guys got a lot of their style from. Particularly Omar and Jon Theodore.

  • @greatgregmurf I'm experiencing that joy now, after looking through Sonisphere's line up I have found them, adn they are brilliant :)

  • @greatgregmurf

I agree for the most part. But i also feel the same way about Radiohead.

We all have wishes about forgetting a band or a TV entertainment just to listen/watch it again :)

  • @greatgregmurf King crimson would have a word with you mister! On a more serious note even tho I really like the Mars Volta, there has been quite a few bands that actually sounded like them.. or vice versa more likely

  • @greatgregmurf every time they make a new album u have to rediscover them , that's why i love tmv

  • First heard the mars volta with this album as teen. Awesome band love the creativity in thier music.

  • "Tentacles smirk please.

    Flinched the cocooned meat.

    Infra-recon forgets."

    .....what? lol

weirdest lyrics everr, but GREAT band. I discovered them yesterday....

  • This is such I good song I could listen to it all day

thus I can and I have

  • @fsunoles123

by actually having good taste in music...duh

  • @fsunoles123 fuck you thats how.

  • @Shpooptypants13 hahaha....great answer.

  • @fsunoles123 and how can u sit back and enjoy that shit of a singer called lupe fiasco

  • I used to think that Maynard from TOOL was the great(est) vocalist ever. This guy I believe has him beat. I guess it depends though, really. I like them both. Really good vocalists and really good drummers make all the difference in any band. You don't see real talent like this in music anymore. Nor does anybody seem to appreciate it anymore. Everything is all synthetic now. It's more about popularity than art. Depressing.

  • @intervene1284 Man, you must not be listening to many bands if "greatest singer ever" is a toss-up between Tool and Mars Volta. I'm not taking anything away from these two bands, as both singers are really good in their own right. But I certainly wouldn't stretch far enough to call either one of them the best ever.

  • @csporter Only the ones that are worth a damn...

  • The weird thing about The Mars Volta is anyone who knows them will say they're one of their favorite bands, not just they like them. Anyone who i've introduced to this band has said it in a matter of days. There is a reason this video has no dislikes!

  • sounds like an 8 armed alien playing drums not a two armed human. Omar is on top form on this track too

  • I was 14 when I first head this... it was so impossible not to headbang at the chorus.

  • so good

  • @Swisscheez92

The song or maybe quality ? = P

  • both, sound quality is good enough, got not problems with it. The Mars Volta is just great, and this song in particular.

  • @Aitsu58 Both

  • @Aitsu58 perfect quality mate, thanks for the upload.

  • @Aitsu58 Pretty sure he's talking about the song Champ.

  • @jimmymac240

    thank you cpt. Obvious

  • @Aitsu58 Your welcome.

  • @Aitsu58 you're the one who asked you dense motherfucker

  • Cedric doesn't sound this good any more...sad

  • This is art!

  • the first 22 seconds of this song are the best 22 seconds of the music industry.........

  • 0 dislikes... the way it should be.

  • damn it pple there should b more likes

  • lovegasm.

  • I love listening to these songs but they were mixed so poorly and high pitched you can't even play an instrument along to them without fucking your ears up

  • @MindstormRecs

mmmm I'm pretty sure Omar is a perfectionist when it comes to his music. This is probably exactly the way he wanted it to sound and I think its fucking beautiful.

  • @Ahljay88 actually a huge reason this album is so good is the producer, rick rubin. when Omar took over production and started indulging himself too much, they went downhill pretty far

  • @TheDinnerTimeBoys you're right to i think because I feel like they lost direction when Omar took over and its a little bit of a mess though you can still tell that they are awesome artistically...but art kinda needs to be directed well.

  • @TheDinnerTimeBoys Rick Rubin was co-producer, Omar still had a large (if not larger) part in it. I agree though, I think Rick helped guide Omar to a sound that would be a little more accessible to listeners, and the result was amazing. Frances the Mute, however, was produced solely by Omar, and it was a masterpiece, and many people (myself included) think it's their best work.

I think they make their best work when they have the most inspiration, and they had plenty for their first two albums.

  • Love this Song Man!!
