  • The problem with global warming with CO2 is that that isn't why the earth was warming, rather it was because of the sun. We cannot put a dent in our planets temperature even if we cranked up CO2 100 times than now.

  • @water2gashawaii

Well carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gasses do play a part in trapping the sun's heat that is bounced off the Earth's surface. I can't imagine a 100x increase would have no effect on the planet's temperature.

  • @dunnono00 CO2 is plant food. The more CO2 in the atmosphere, the more plants convert it into Oxygen, even plankton in the oceans convert it to oxygen. The amount of pollution produced from the worlds volcanoes and the ocean itself far dwarfs the emissions from all of humanity. we only put out about 12 percent compared to natural processes.

  • @water2gashawaii

With deforestation and pollution in the oceans, wouldn't that mean less carbon dioxide is getting converted while industrialization continues?

  • I didn't have room to say, I am helping with my research! CMA energy research.

It's all privately funded and non profit. So when you say where is your support. Now you know. And just to let you in a secret. Space travel will always be hampered & mediocre until such time we have CMA energy. Why? This is the ONLY energy that will provide a complete magnetic shielding for all space travel. Would you like to comment now on where is your help? with the only CMA energy research!

  • Brilliant reply unfortunately one would expect a foolish reply from an unlearned person.

Especially when they think more of themselves then of others, Including the ones that are destroying such! If brains were of the order we would not be suffering at the hands of foolish leaders of greed & selfishness. They refuse to help with the research that is needed to stop all CO2 emissions. While yours & the unlearned also rises! So where is the research other then what we have just expressed? Why no?

  • This terraforming of Mars will NEVER happen.

Mars has no usable food, fuel, oxygen, warmth, gravity, etc. On top of that, sending Earth's fuel would be prohibitively expensive, especially since it could only be sent to Mars the size of a single tanker trailer. The landing would be highly risky. Sending food tankers would be just as expensive as fuel. A single launch failure would likely doom the current inhabitants. Mars average temp of minus 80 Deg. is far too cold for warming up at all.

  • @Fallparty it will only be viable if the sun starts to expand as it ages towards a red giant, then earth will become too hot, and mars will be the next logical place to go.

  • @water2gashawaii The expansion you talk about, when the Sun becomes a red giant star will be about 7.59 billion years from now. When the Sun does begin to bloat up, it will go quickly, sweeping through our inner Solar System in just 5 million years. You wont' be around for this.

  • whats the point of terra forming mars the magnetic field is gone so even if we made a atmosphere it would just fly out to space...

  • @TheDeacon09 The trick to solving this is to heat up the core. Activate the core so that the colonies aren't constantly bombarded with solar radiation. We could supplement the core with whatever materials it needs. S Type asteroids are close to Mars and contain mostly iron. We will use these rocks to supplement the core. Insert a man-made sun that will die out after heating everything up, and voila. You have a magnetic field. My theory at least...

  • @h4s4t4n well if thats possible it wont be anytime soon sadly we cant create man-made sun yet but soon i hope we can

  • where it's probably no a good idear

    !

  • The fools that want run and express their desire to reach out of this earth to fill their pockets. While this earth by ignorance is being destroyed. Is that what you want? We should be looking for the energy that will save this earth, before it's to late we need to support C.M.A. energy research. Or this earth will be destroyed by the parasites that rule. We need to stop all CO2 emissions now. So where is your support? Probably to fill your pockets before your consideration of children & earth

  • @CMAenergy

"We need to stop all CO2 emissions now. So where is your support?"

    -- -- --

Soooo, have you stopped breathing yet? Right now, you're polluting this atmoshpere with your exhaled CO2.

  • we should have terraformed mars in the early 70's to mid 80s. once again any company government or group that does finally colonize mars will hold all the cards

    militarily, scientifically and otherwise.

  • Less social revolutions, MORE SPACE

  • "First I figured we could just nuke Mars, but then I realized that it wasn't very practical."

  • I hope, that on Mars was live...and there is a lot of fosil fuel...

  • That's exactly what I've been saying!

  • what about the lack of a magnetic feild? all the co2 would get blown off by solar wind anyway

  • Red Faction?

  • Let's go trash someone else's planet and call it home??? You better hope like hell that if this goes through, there is no life on mars! How would you like beings from another planet coming to earth and screwing with our climate so that it will be inhabitable for them??? Smh.

  • @penny8va82 your retarded

  • MARSIAN WAR

  • Raising the temperature by producing Carbon Dioxide?

    That's sounds stupid

If we use that method, we have to work twice, raising the co2, and then after mars temperature hot enough we lower it again

Humans can't live with a lot of co2 around right? current co2 level on mars can kill human in a few minutes, what if we raise it again? we can't breathe

  • @IvanS321123 I agree

  • @IvanS321123 yes because the first step is not breathable air. Its twofold: temperature, and pressure. Increasing the pressure from about 6 millibar to around 500 millibar by increasing the temperature. When the temperature increases, the ice caps (dry ice and water ice) and gasses frozen in the regolith will outgas and increase the planets pressure over centuries. If the temperature increases enough, all they will need is just an oxygen mask with no pressure suit to go outside.

  • @IvanS321123 It's not stupid. We can't breathe on Mars anyway, the first step in the process is to create a warmer planet and a denser atmosphere, to do that we need to release gasses that create a more compact environment, to do that we pump CO2 into the atmosphere. It's acutally quite simple and brilliant. Then, potentially with warmth and with the south and north poles melting, it will create water, and then we can put algae in the water and create O2, and then we have equilibrium.

  • @IvanS321123 We can. Just by raising the co2 with 1-2% will raise the temperature significantely.

  • What is the point of terraforming Mars? Humans are looking for alternative home in order to survive and reproduce again if our star the Sun extinct. But Mars is within the solar system, isn't it?

  • @890slay

The point of terraforming is that it is seen as the next step of human expansion. The sun's death lie far in a future we can't even imagine. Well before that becomes a problem, it is possible the Earth's population will strain resources. Unless something happens to decimate/control the number of humans, there are just going to be more and more of us as time goes on. One solution is colonizing other planets.

  • @890slay

the sun would be extinct in 5 billion years, thats way too long to be an issue.

  • @890slay No mars will be the next jump when earth becomes overpoplulated and it's resources are used up. the sun is in it's middle ages and will likely continue to provide enough energy to heat up Mars w/human intervention(terraforming).By that time, we'll also be looking into other regions of our galaxy to find the next habitual planet to jump to.It will be light years away but if we survive the switch from earth to mars then humans will have crossed the point of immortality as a race.

  • @890slay Think of it this way: we terraform Mars while we save our home planet. By the time we have successfully terraformed and colonized Mars, we will have a healthier Earth. The largest problem that we face is the Mars has no magnetic field. It does, but it's incredibly weak. Almost nothing... To reverse this, the core needs to be activated...which can happen with a man-made sun. Drill to the center and implant the sun. It will die out after reactivating the core. My theory at least.

  • i am Canadian -85c is nothing...lol

  • @spoloon Especially in a space suit

  • @spoloon some gassef up person, and im russian and -85c is nothing

  • @thesomebody3 then it should be a team of Russians and Canadians that shall colonize mars. :)

  • @spoloon and antarcticans

  • In having factories that produce super-greenhouse gases, it would be best if they were producing them as a byproduct of yet more useful industry so as to add not only temperature a few centuries down the road, but also useful products. If that's done, then they'll be proliferated and sooner rather than later Mars could be made basically habitable rather than just technologically habitable as it is today.

  • *FACEpaLM**EPIC FACEPALM*, so stupid if u put CO2 in the atmosphere then the general gas would be CO2 not O2

  • @thesomebody3 but then plantlife could be planted and in turn create O2 from the CO2

  • @SackPilgrim *FACEPALM* *EPIC FACEPALM* but then what plant could survive those conditions, and what plant can survive without an Ozone layer?

  • @thesomebody3 the cyanobakteria produce O2 from CO2 and can survive under the suns conditions

  • @SquirrelGoesPewPew ooooo really wow, u know that mars is even bigger then earth dont u?

  • @thesomebody3 it is a really long progress, but with some heatsource and water, the problem with unfriendly enviroment on mars would solve itself, during a couple of 100 years, ok maybe like 1000 years and that doesn't make sense, hmm...

  • @thesomebody3 Balance.

  • @TralalFace dat dont make sense??????

  • @thesomebody3 <-- more like *EPIC RETARD* , watch the whole documentary dummy,it explains terraforming mars in three phases...

  • @hayden50 ur dumb, none of them 3 phases would work in any combination...

  • @thesomebody3 you think you know better than these scientists??? don't make me laugh

  • @hayden50 dont know who you are, what u r, or where u from, but ur dumb as shit.., how could this possibly work? do u have any logic in that empty head of urs?

  • @thesomebody3 i don't have time to explain things to retards ,so watch the whole documentary ...also, there are plenty of other documentaries on youtube explaining the feasibility of terraforming mars...get educated.....

  • @hayden50 dude, putting CO2 on the planet will never work, ur a retard not me, and just by the way im talking about this documentary, just cuz u got a bonut at the idea that we r gonna live on mars doesn't mean that who disagrees is an idiot, and by the way I think I have more general knowledge then you

  • Do the moon first so u canset up space ports.

  • @omega4chimp if we do that were gonna f up our oceans, and the moon will not be able to 'light'

  • @thesomebody3 No it will be fine.

  • @omega4chimp really, u tried it? lol do u even know wht im talking about, i dont mean to be rude by the way but how could that be?

  • Let's learn to live in this planet first before fucking another one up.

  • @NewVahan2011 Well now this isn't for anyone alive today, I think. As we've fucked up this world. We might now be giving the next generation and the generation after that a chance.

  • @NewVahan2011 =)) snm

  • Its gonna look like blade runner

  • No planetary magnetic field = not able to be terraformed. This is the biggest barrier to living there. Mars has no atmosphere not because of its size and gravity but because of its lack of a magnetic field. Earth would loose its atmosphere if it did not have one. Chris McKay states that its a temperature problem in every documentary. Fine, raise the temperature, create an atmosphere and begin seeding plants. Then watch it all be destroyed when the first CME hits.

  • @tylersurcess Well I think it would be more realisic to presume colonies will be like protected bases. If you want to go outside than you just have to put on your suit. As simple as that.

  • @dekippiesip Your right, that is the most plausible idea. Not exactly the mini earth we see in popular internet videos and discussion.

  • So are their any kind of life on mars? Aliens, bacteria ?

  • It's a interesting idea, but what is the point to colonizing it?

  • @Eggman870 You're in Australia. Ask your parents/grandparents why they came to Australia. That, and many other reasons.

  • I think we need to learn how to live peacefully on the planet we already inhabit before we go colonising others...

  • @richoz27 Why are you going on a mars colonizing video to tell us that you want us to live peacefully on the planet we already inhabit.

Haven't you heard of what happend with the dinasours?

Our species needs a plan B for if something happens on earth.

    It is a long-term project.

  • @TOTCD Unfortunately mass extinction rates are close to what they were when the dinosaurs were wiped out, but this time its a single species that is creating it, lets focus our technical know how on reversing this trend rather than trying to bomb habitability into Mars so we can continue raping our Earth with impunity. Its funny that Americans seem to think bombs are the answer to many problems.

  • @richoz27 Why are you making a vid about colonizing Mars about americans bombing?

There is no doubt that we have to learn how to live together with our planet more.

But there was a reason that dinosaurs went extinct and having a Plan B doesn't sound like a bad idea to me. We need to invest more in technology overall.

Green energy to cut carbon emissions, grow more trees. Invest in medicine to prolong human life. Improve the quality of life. But at the same time have a plan B.

  • @TOTCD I was refering to the use of hydrogen bombs to create a greenhouse effect in Mars's atmosphere.

  • @richoz27 it's not just America who has tested hydrogen bombs in the atmosphere you dumb fucking retard...also it's a prominent scientist who's proposing the idea to further accelerate the greenhouse effect i on mars. and you think you know better you dumb aussie cow?

  • @hayden50 why so furious?

  • the biggest problem is gravity, i dont want to have to adapt to lesser gravity i like earths 1g just fine

  • @abvmoose87 Some people might not mind, and each successive generation will adapt to it more (within reason, we probably won't let gravity act as a selective pressure in our 'evolution')

  • zubrin is such a great visionary man ... i am somehow sad that people think they need war more than science and spacetravell

  • According to Physcist John Brandenburg Mars once had an advanced civilization about 180 million years ago. John Brandenburg also stated that Mars was murdered by an intergalactic civilization and did not die a natural death. John Brandenburg said that a 1 million megaton nuclear bomb destroyed Mars and he says this because he found Xenon 129 on Mars and Xenon 129 can only be the result of unatural nuclear blast. John Brandenburg worked for the Pantagon and Lawrence Livimore Laboratories.

  • @RoyalistCavalier

Yes, but the Pantagon, as we all know, are pants specialist. Their mission is to "seed" Mars with all manners of pants, and see which ones can survive in this harsh environment. The hardiest pants will then be the harbingers of a new, pants-centralized civilization, taking advantage of the previous civilization's pants infrastructure and ancient pants designs. Xenon 129? More like 100% cotton, the result of a UNATURAL PANTSPLOSION.

  • lol

  • @dunnono00 lol you mean "plants" hahaha. it sounds funny when you read it...funny

  • @RoyalistCavalier Brandenburg is a nut job and a shitty physicist. Also he's a liar. Xenon 129 can be caused by good old fashioned beta decay. He's simply wrong (or lying) when he says that only nuclear blasts can cause this isotope. Brandenburg is making the rest up as there is zero evidence of any life on Mars, let alone a civilization.

  • Is it true that humans will go to Mars in the year 2050 and that this journey will last for 3 years to it and 3 years from Mars back to Earth?!

  • @blacknessboy666 NASA was instructed by the US president to have a possible flight plan and spaceship with re-newing food and fuel resources by somewhere 2020-2030, i don't know really since i'm not American, the date is not know though, depends on where and when they will find out a suitable way to fly there. Should not take longer than 40 years from now on though...

  • @Adrenalin844 I understand that. So, after all, humans will go to Mars in the year 2050, just like I said.

  • @blacknessboy666 I really have no idea.

  • @Adrenalin844 Me neither.

  • I think that it would be alot easier to take new planets if we could genetically modify our bodies to live in harsh environments.

  • I am watching this for my science homework due tomorrow:p

  • We should transport our waste, trash, disposal to Mars and burn it there.

Do I see two problems solved ?

  • Wonder if the First Martians will try to stop humans from visiting their planet. What do I mean by that? I'm talking about the species that will no doubt evolve from us. Wonder what we would call them, I like Homo Martialis.

  • Force all countries to give up their nuclear missles, then build a spaceship floating on mars, then ship all the nukes there, then detonate the nukes on mars! = atmosphere

  • are we really meant to go this far

  • 4:01 Great Vision

  • Isn't there a way to just filter the c02 from our atmosphere and dump it into Mars? I'm sure if they spent enough time with the idea they could make it work. Sounds better than spending all that money to build factories that in all honesty would stay there even after the planet was terraformed.

  • How can we terraform mars if there is no magnetic field?

  • @1MuchButteR1 we will need to build a artificial magnetic field generator to protect Mars from having it's atmosphere stripped away.

  • @curingaging00 Well that kind of technology we wont have for long, that kind of generator would use tons of energy and it has to be completely reliable.

  • @1MuchButteR1 Actually, even if Mars was not given an artificial magnetosphere, it would still take millions of years for it to be eroded. An artificial magnetosphere will be needed to protect its atmosphere and hold it for billions of years. To protect Mars from the high charged partials thrown out by the sun during Solar Flares or CMEs.

  • National Geographic is the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I already saw this stuff a few months ago...I forgot, I've been obsessively watching every National Geographic I can get my hands on. Yeah, I already got a BA but we NEVER stop learning...I've learned so much since leaving college about 1 & a half years ago. Science rocks!

  • Who cares about the taliban, let them have their shit in afghanistan. its better to gather money for mars colonization

  • @GodOfUnbelief they are not attacking afghanistan because of the taliban (which they helped in the past)...

  • The conditions on Mars may not be what NASA states it is.

If anything, the United States and the Soviet-Union governements would have agreed on a join cover up as to what really exist on Mars in advance, to avoid eventual social disturbances caused by whatever may be discovered.

  • Actually Mr. Zubrin, we're going to need to steer some large water-ice rich asteroids into Mars in order to replenish the water that has been lost to the Solar wind over the eons. Most likely done with nuclear powered ion drives, which of course would detach from the asteroid before impact, to then go get another one. There's also the question of how do we re-establish a global magnetosphere to shield Mars from the Solar wind and cosmic rays. Terra-forming Mars will take several millennium.

  • here is a idea...let that planet be!..we already fucked this one up..why toy with that one red cold ass desolate planet...stupid man...these folk think to much..how bout tellin the folk about the 3 we found that is like earth!...fly there let nature takes its course...man...folk like this screw things all up with their bright ideas..maybe Mars is there to balance our solar system..ever think of that? ya super smart morons..they are seeking so hard now cause they know we as a humans need to move

  • @MyLambon sorry dont speaka your language...so its as if a alien was talkin to me..please translate..no insult intended by the way..

  • @MyLambon sorry dont speaka your language...so its as if a alien was talkin to me..please translate..no insult intended by the way..

  • @MyLambon sorry dont speaka your language...so its as if a alien was talkin to me..please translate..no insult intended by the way..

  • Mars: no magnetic field = no atmosphere. So it'd be useless putting smoke in its air!

  • @gongotupan It has an atmosphere. Just no magnetic field, read more.

  • @witherspoon1995 Not neccessarily. Venus has no magnetosphere and is closer to the sun but this doesn't stop it from having one of the densest atmospheres in the solar system.

  • bring some fart can from earth might help ......

  • The culd try aerobraking ice comets to melt ice and get more water/chemicals/heat on Mars.

  • My dad thinks global warming is a hoax. He's a dumb idiot from the 60's

  • dude it does happen every 24k years..we just sped it up a touch,t heats up before every ice age..its fact, the ice in Greenland has spoken..now we hear..just some dont believe..well what i have said is fact..no matter if any believes..cause its bound to happen we are rounding that cycle now..heat up..then cold..you watch...my kids will see it more then I, and that i hate to think about, but what ya gonna do..nothing! roll with it and and hope for the best. you sound young so look out

  • We are already there

  • Comment removed

  • This is the dumbest video on YouTube. I mean it. Let's forget about the obvious liberal propaganda for a second. The idea about warming up the planet with useless factories is so fucking insane it makes me physically ill to even think about that. Hopefully this is just political propaganda and not a real scientific research project.

  • @saper321 Have you got a better solution?

  • @saper321 How does this have anything to do with Politics?

  • who paid for this crap?

  • It's a great struggle to trust American TV shows when it comes to factual information.

  • What if Venus had life, just like Earth? Maybe its intelligent life put too much co2 in the atmosphere and made it look like it is today?

  • @Evin062008 Don't talk such utter rot...Our planet isnt warming any faster now than it was before the industrial age..the amount it has warmed by is a fraction of what these global warming alarmists predicted. and most importantly not all scientist (in the relevant fields of study) agree.

  • @OtagoMark It was just a thought but you're right.

  • @Evin062008 sorry, i get wound u when it comes to global warming hehehe

  • how do you become a scientist and get to a job where u can study these things? seriously! I would love to be paid to find ways to go mars lol

  • @shav4life It's called school.

  • @shav4life really? coz where i got my degree from was called something else. idiot!

  • @shav4life Go to collage and get a degree in Aerospace engeering if you just want to get people to Mars, but if you want to tear form it or something else maybe something in climatalogy or biology.

  • Now how are they going to keep it going? I've had numerous discussions with other geologists and we all agree it's just not viable unless there's plate tectonics, and mars' plates quit moving a long time ago (hence it being a dead planet)... Any ideas?

  • damit i wish i could live forever, to experience stuff like this

  • In USA, people send rockets to Mars; in Soviet Russia, rockets send people to Mars.

  • Maybe it's the comb over

  • This guy is a little 'off', don't ya think?

  • What about having greenhouse gases pumped into the atmosphere on a huge grid with maybe ceres throwin into a controlled orbit around mars to help stablize it. therefore we could use it as well as mars other 2 small moons as ports to bring down supplies.

  • Nearly all world-changing technology that emerged in the past 60 years can trace their origin to a USMIL or DARPA or another Military project. The microchip, the internet, GPS navigation, satellite communications, etc. Peace is boring, bland, unchallenging and leads to stagnation. War is full of opportunities and is the biggest incentive for technological development.

  • @WarmongerWW3 If we opened our minds to the crazy ideas like we do in war time we would move just as fast. war just gives them a reason to find something better we just need the same people to think towards space and we'd move faster then ever before just like in the apollo program striving to get to the moon brought out new tech just as will going to mars if we can get the world on it.

  • @EW0Canuk The Apollo Program was only possible because of the cold War between two bellicose empires, in the first place. It is virtually impossible to separate space exploration and wars.

  • @WarmongerWW3 And thats why we arent going to leave this rock until we blow it up.

  • @EW0Canuk Exactly.

  • The pacifist threat must be avoided if we want to survive. We will need more wars to encourage technological development to colonize space.

  • @WarmongerWW3 I would usually agree with you because its getting boring in afgan, however, I think we should start out pacifist then when tech advances, start either a WWIII, MWWI, or an Planetary War.

  • @WarmongerWW3 What's the point of developing these advanced weapons and technology, if we never get the chance to use it? Insted we destroy ourselves first. At one point war was the answer, just look at the USA, war made them the most advance natiom in the world. But now that many of the worlds nations are starting to experement with highly destructive energy and weapons, war will only create more problems. We can barely deal with the one's we have now.

  • @samysasy419 only create more problems? WW3 is the most efficient way to solve three of the Top 3 Problems of the 21st century.

*The Economic problem (saving us from Great Depression 2).

*The Political problem (unification through a totalitarian global government is required).

*The Population problem (global population must be reduced by billions).

  • @WarmongerWW3 Me personally, I dont have a problem w/ a totalitarian gov'. I don't have a problem with the government, I have a problem with the governors. I dont want leaders like Bush, Hitler, Obama, the leader of North Korea (don't know name), or any other power hungry retards in office. What about the war in the middle east we've been there sense 1991, the economy just gets worse. There are enough materials in the world today to construct over 250,000 nukes, our species will become extinct.

  • @WarmongerWW3 What good comes out of wars? Military inventions and government superpowers?

  • @ixcaliber You are using a military invention right now: internet.

Now imagine the wonderful things that WW3 will create.

  • @WarmongerWW3 Alright, now look at the negative side.

  • @ixcaliber

    ?

  • @WarmongerWW3 Your stupidity and biased view amazes me.

  • @ixcaliber Facebook :D

  • @WarmongerWW3 - And Mandatory Sterilization for EVERYBODY! A-hahahahahaaaaa!!!! ...except, of course, for those who have earned the right to procreate by fighting all those wars. :O

  • @WarmongerWW3 not really... if you havnt noticed ppl are easily manipulated by what they see i.e. VIDEOS

    you dont need war anymore.....

  • @WarmongerWW3 You're a fucking imbecile, more war will end the human race. We must end war and focus on developing this technology peacefully.

  • @DuPuieproductions Ah, the youth...

  • @WarmongerWW3 Ah, the mental asylum escapees...

  • @DuPuieproductions War is a very productive behavior in terms of technological development (Roland, 2009).

  • @WarmongerWW3 Yes, war can result in technological development, but it is quite clear a third world war would be humanity's last.

  • @DuPuieproductions I think we sure have another Cold War because technological advancements were made during it and there was no "fighting". AND theworst-thatcouldhappen-ishumanitydies.jpg

  • Let's just hope that nature takes away our primate features before WW3 comes. Our hormonal glands are way too large at the moment.

But then I don't think we can wait for a few million years before we destroy ourselves... so we're probably screwed :D

  • @WarmongerWW3 But that, productive behavior, was before WW1 & WW2 and that's been 65 years now. It all started with Einstein discovering E=MC^2 which the result was the first atomic bomb. You can still develop technologies in peace time, but the stupid idiots sitting in the pentagon (i.e. war veterans) are the ones who want to make weapons out of science and technology. Don't you think we've reached a certain limit where war won't bring any more than a stone age? nuc. power, limited fuel, etc...
