Im turning 16, an i remember my mom showing me this really young. i loved it and i always watched it. i lve it so much, brings back goodtimes:)) lol "hairball!!" always what raven waves says XD
WOW, I remember this. I loved the show and had the coloring book. I loved LADY LOVELY LOCKS...:-D
This along with Jem and the Holograms; The Wuzzles; Fraggle Rock; The Muppet Babies; Duck Tales; Gummi Bears; My Little Pony Tails; etc are my all time favorite cartoons.
wow! heres some memories...okay...i'm searching jem & the holograms. and find lady lovely locks....both have t.v.shows and both a doll line.....never knew l.l.l. had a show...just dolls.....is the reason our beloved jem got canned?....
This is were it all started for me. This and Jem is where I got my love for multi color hair. And the LLL dolls were even better than the cartoon because they came with ''pixietails'' of all colors that you could really wear in your hair. So cool! What ever happened to cartoons/toys like this? Toys suck now days for kids, I have a 5yr old and he likes 80's cartoons/toys way better. He even likes the music and clothes fron the 80's.
I remember getting the dolls for christmas! I got Lady
Lovely Locks ( the blonde one with the pink streak) and my older sister got Lady Curly Crown (the red-head). She was so jealous! (But I really preferred Jem to all other cartoons at the time).
everytime i talk about this my friends think im wierd.. im 22 and watched this everyday!! (sad i know cos i even remember this episode) im soo glad u posted it so i can finally show them that it does exist.. thank you!! xx
Actually those words are pretty much interchangeable. Some people try to make distinctions in modern times but those are spurious at best. Pentacle does generally refer to an amulet form of the pentagram but...semantics.
when i was little, i got so excited everytime we got to go down to the video shop see they didnt play these on tv where i live, but id go rent out lady lovely locks and rainbow brite and i watched them over and over, i dont understand kids programs these days they arent the same quality, when i have kids they will be wtaching these not the tellitubbies or whatever children watch these days lol.
@cindermurk I swear to god everything you wrote was like listening to myself!!! i used to do the exact same thing, local video store: lady lovelylocks & rainbow brite and watching them over and over. i also think that teletubbies is absolute bullshit and of no educational value whatsoever. it's one of the worst children's program's i have ever seen.
Absolutely! I was too old to watch things like Jem or old school Care Bears on TV but I rented the crap outta them and I will be buying the dvds and tapes for my children. Thank god for old tapes.
I did the same thing as a child. I was always renting the rainbow brite movie. Nowadays they have a educational requirement that they have to fulfill or they wont air it. Hand drawn animation is also time consuming and expensive and in these hard times, no one can afford to make good cartoons. Since Disney channel is making most of it's money off of live action, they like to play it safe and TV nowadays sucks.
OMG! I'd forgotten about Lady Lovely Locks until recently. I totally had the LLL and Duchess Raven Waves dolls. They were the greatest. Way better than Barbie. LOL. :)
I used to watch this when i was younger... wow, lol at thier names. I wonder why that black haired girl wants her hair (I forgot) its pretty stalkerish XP
It's alright, it's been a long time for all of us. Her name is Raven Waves and she wants lady's hair because she thinks it's magic. She's convinced that it opens up a secret room in lady's castle that controls the kingdom.
OMG! Thank U so much for posting this. It really made me smile. I'm 25 and I watched it with amazement the same way I did when I was 5 LOL. It brought back childhood memories. Now my 5 year old watched this video of LLL for the very first time and she fell in love with it. I think every little girl who watched this watched to look like LLL and had the doll collection--I know I did. :)
I'm so glad to hear that. It's hard to find cute and entertaining stuff for little kids nowadays. I'm glad that you're sharing your childhood with her.
There are a few floating around on Ebay. They usually go for 5-10 dollars. The last volume I got from there had quite a few episodes and was a tape from an old rental store.
There are also DVDs with other 80's girl shows on them called Girls rule. Those have a few rare episodes.
yeah, the tape is REALLY old and had my childhood all over it. Played over and over and over again. I know some one with a better video quality. It's in German, but I could swap it with the English audio.
I had all the dolls even ravenwaves when I was little, and I had the pixitails to put in my hair. I used to want to be LLL. Hey how did this show end did Lady ever find out that the dog was really a prince?

I don't like remakes because I think they are a rip-off for the original artist that came with the idea. The illustrator that came out with strawberry shortcake is Muriel Farhion, she was working for a greeting card company and the strawberry shortcake characters got licenced and the rights bought by different companies. I think the new strawberry shortcake is not very artistic, since it's all computarized, plus it is all about the merchandize. Classics should be respected, and so their artists.
its permission from the original artist to reinterpret their work.
i like all the classic cartoons. and i like the modern SBSc, the new illustrators take great care in creating the girls. the original anatomy is kept. they put a strong status on the new one about friendship and helping people.
i like the merchandise of the old and new SBSc and enjoy both versions the way they are drawn. no one is being disrespected.
I know ver well what a remake is and you are mistaken, it is not permission from the original artist, since as i stated before Muriel Fahrion created the characters but she doesn't own them because they are licensed, For example, do you think that if Disney was alive he would allow the travesty that the disney company have put on his characters?
they have remakes of the 101 damatians, and put on a tv series tha has nothing to do with the original story which is a novel by Dodie smith.
also, they have made remakes of cinderella and the lady and the tramp among others. Today's remakes are not about originality but about making money. The disney company, for example, has decided to not make any more drawn cartoons and just do computarized animation, and it is actually a fact. Computarized animation is much cheaper. Of course you can buy the merchandize and like it too, you are free to do that, it's not my business to tell anyone what to like, you are entitled to your opinion.
that may be true but most of the remakes are the same with some bits different because that are updating them from the older version of technology so that they can play on the newer technology and most people dont have the old vcrs anymore and also the tapes might not work on them so it just depends really at how you look at it
yes, but doun't you think that it is better than a lot of shows that they come up with nowdays? I remember i used to like this show so much, i decided not to watch it because it's going to be worse than I imagine, as you said, flawed in many ways. I still think is a good show for little girls and most people like to watch it because it reminds them of their childhood. A lot of shows i used to like, I now think are kind of corny but I look for ones with good messages, so my girls can watch.
I see your point. But there were and are a lot better options. I found David the Gnome again via Youtube and was so impressed. David's a doctor that uses his knowledge to help people and animals, and who respects nature. And then there's Jem, which actually shows strong women from diverse backgrounds putting aside their differences to make music. And then... there's Lady Lovely Locks, in which ultimate evil is represented by someone who looks possibly not white.
It doesnt matter her hair color, Raven Waves taught that despite her beauty, she could never be truely happy. She was so stuck on her own wants that her kingdom withered and died. Its a lesson people dont like to teach now days. It was because lady had such a love for her kingdom and people that lived in it, that made her who she was.
its amazing how much a tv show can effect your idealistic view of a women. I cant believe how much i used this show for my values even now, i remember when i was young for my utter most private thoughts of desire i used to believe i was blond and skinny...just goes to show how much a tv show can create you.
my friend and I used to play Lady lovely locks. I was always Lady Lovely locks because I was blonde and I always made her Raven Waves because she had dark hair. She still holds it against me.
when I was little I had a video where the lake froze over with her friends trapped inside. Is this on youtube? I just remembered it this week.
I was born in 87, but I still watched it. I think it was on TV...I remember having a tape of it...was it recorded? I don't recall. Great show though ^^
yer i remember this ep nearly word for word i have one of the puzzle but it is waaaaayy to hard i have never tried to finish it tiny little pieces like 5000 of them
I sent my grandfather all over town, scouting video stores for Lady Lovely Locks. We should have just bought the videos, for the number of times we rented them. Same can be said of Labyrinth and Barbie and the Rockers. Man, I miss the 80s!
They are not, thats why I'm putting them up. its been 20 years and I hope they put up retro Tees and stuff like they did with rainbow brite and strawberry shortcake. even holly hobbie got her time to shine agian.
omg! I didn't even know there was a tv show like this! All I knew about where the Lady Lovely Locks books that I used to read as a kid... Ravenwaves was my first crush, lol
lol thats so cute , I would have loved to have the books when I was younger ,I still remember watching the episodes with the lights turned off and my 'rainbow' lamp on in my bedroom.
Thank you very much. But it seems the colorist made a little error. Look at Maiden FairHair's horse when she first rides with Lady Lovelylock's at 2:52, it's blue. Then, at 3:19 her horse is pink. Then at 3:23 it's blue again. But this mistakes happen alot in production
The music that plays during every episode title of "Lady Lovely Locks" was also used for the commercial bumpers of a rare Fall 1987 special also by DIC - "Meet Julie". If anyone has a recording of this special, I'd like a copy, please. Thanks.
This rocks, it was one of my favourite shows when I was a kid as well... I managed to find a 2 hour DVD of it as well, but it doesn't have this epesode on it!!
I tried to rip some of the epesodes onto my computer, but due to the fact that it is old and retarded it wasn't happy with this... but I could pass the DVD on to a friend who has a MUCH better computer, and ask her to upload them for me :D!!
I know it's asking a bit much, but is there any chance of you uploading the episodes onto a server/host (such as www.megaupload.com/en/) so people can download them?
seems in the eighties people had a thing for hair

It's a pentacle, not a pentagram. It is a Pagan symbol of wisdom, knowledge, and "all things united." A VERY positive, Magical symbol! :)

Actually those words are pretty much interchangeable. Some people try to make distinctions in modern times but those are spurious at best. Pentacle does generally refer to an amulet form of the pentagram but...semantics.

I sent my grandfather all over town, scouting video stores for Lady Lovely Locks. We should have just bought the videos, for the number of times we rented them. Same can be said of Labyrinth and Barbie and the Rockers. Man, I miss the 80s!

Therindos 5 years ago
Ooh! Could you please post some of the eps from the dvd? xoxo
shimmer126 5 years ago
I tried to rip some of the epesodes onto my computer, but due to the fact that it is old and retarded it wasn't happy with this... but I could pass the DVD on to a friend who has a MUCH better computer, and ask her to upload them for me :D!!

I know it's asking a bit much, but is there any chance of you uploading the episodes onto a server/host (such as www.megaupload.com/en/) so people can download them?
In case these episodes ever get removed . . .
