  • Tiny Tim's inspiration ?

  • That song 'Do Do Something' for me.

  • can you please tell me where i can watch this whole film?

  • Poor girl!

  • Dorothy Lee was so charming, don'tcha think?... And what great song! LOVE IT!

  • The moon it's up high .... Oh geee....

  • @artisticluminiere Big thumbs up on this one

  • It's strange that there are quite a few comments about Morton Downey's voice. It shows that people just aren't used to a high tenor voice in popular music these days. I think Downey has a great voice; it reminds me of another great tenor voice of that era, Frank Williamson, who can be heard belting out Mona in a clip somewhere on YT. Dorothy Lee was incredible, the quintessential flapper, cute as a button.

  • I like her voice,but I don't like his

  • I got what seems to be a complete print of this at an estate sale. I thought it had been taped off of TV, but at no point is there any station identification. Does anybody know if this film has ever been on TV? Specifically, has it ever been on TCM? It's an RKO film so TCM should be able to play it.

  • Is this Morton Downy Jr's father?? Great clip.

  • @ziggycat999 He would have to be his grandfather if any relation at all.

  • this is sooooo good

  • Can you please upload some clips of On With the Show 1929 I got that movie on the warner archive I liked it. Sorry if I'm bothering you don't have to do it if you dont want to.

  • I loooove Morton's Voice!

  • This is a wonderful clip. I have wanted to see Syncopation for years but have not been able to find it. Where is it available? Tell me the secret password.

  • LOL Look who wants to be Helen Kane :p

    JK

  • This is NOT a lost film yet it is not available in any format for sale. This clip is wonderful. I would love to see the whole film Thank you stjn00 for uploading this clip.

  • Dorothy Lee, found by Ziegfield and later teamed with Wheeler and woosley died in San Diego in 2007 at age 98. married 7 times, once to Wrigley chewing gum heir. Marriage interrupted her career and her last movie was 1940. She would have been married 8 times but marriage for Sunday December 7, 1941 cancelled by Japs bombing Pearl Harbor. Lee tutored Ruby Keeler in dance in New York, but unlike Keeler could sing well. As cute as they come.

  • @BornToLate Actually, she died in 1999 at age 88.

  • I love this, they are so cute.....

    Those really were the days....

  • What a time when sexy ladies placed themselves on a grand piano! Thanks for posting this rare gem. For loads of swingin' music visit my blog anytime of the year. It's linked with my profile.

  • I love this Video...they are so adorable!

Those were great times...Great Jazz band..

  • This is the cutest thing I've ever seen in my life and I'm 56...those were the good old days...They are both adorable!

  • Love this! Is she trying to sound like Helen Kane?

  • @msrubyvixen If you've seen any of Dorothy Lee's movies, say with Wheeler and Woolsey, you'll know that she basically sounded like Helen Kane anyway, but without the Brooklyn accent.

  • Indeed fantastic!

    Who's in the band??

  • Fred waring and his Pennsylvanians

  • Thank you lily.

  • Fantastic! great

  • There was a 1942 movie Syncopation, starring Jackie Cooper and Bonita Garnville.

Not sure it was a re-make of the original which I have not seen.

  • I've made this, one of my Favorites*****! Take a peek! It holds up very well as does "From Niagara Falls To Reno," Blonde Dorothy Lee's Song and Dance number also in my Favorites! *****

  • Love seeing these rare clips. However, I have to comment on the fact that Mr. Downey's voice seems like it should be coming from HER. LOL! Still love it though!

  • This kind of music is really the best! It's much better than Rock or Hip-Hop. (To be quite frank with you, I HATE those other styles!) Good Job, stjn00!

  • Quite strangely, this exact same some was also sung by Helen Kane in "Nothing but the Truth" in 1929 also!

  • A musical comedy named Syncopation. Now, that's up my alley!!

  • Who's Britney Spears?

  • you must be old? like an old wine though i bet , you have a wonderful taste in music

  • Does anyone else think she sounds a bit like Helen Kane (the boop boop de boop girl?)

  • Helen Kane for sure. Annette Hanshaw did a great mimicry of Helen Kane, insomuch Helen Kane was sued, unsuccessfully, by her label for violation of her contract.

  • This is the first RKO Radio picture, thought lost for years. The man, by the way, is Morton Downey, and this is only the second all talking musical made. Unfortunately, most of the rest of the film is nowhere near as good as this clip. Thanks for posting.

  • Thank you so much, I have been wanting to see that for years, Hopefuuly Warner will release tjhis and the 20 Wheeler & Woolsey films they own.

  • That guy sounds very much like a girl...

  • indeed he does

  • I think he was famous as an Irish tenor. You can still get his cds.Wasn't this guy married to Barbara Bennet of Joan Bennets family? I think she committed suicide

  • i remember dorothy lee. she was up there with Lana Turner and Clara Bow.

  • quel chanson quel interpretation incroyable ca donne vraiment l'essence des annees 20. on dirait la voix d'une certaine betty boop?

  • thank you for posting this!

  • niiiice

  • Fantastic!!! THANK YOU!!! :-) We've all missed you...

  • Last of a great era - in just a short year it's will all be gone.........70+ years later and we long for it still..........

  • Yes - this little clip captures this last gasp of the 20's era. Sound film came in just in time to provide some glimpses of the last couple of yrs of the 20's. It was a great era...the music, theater, literature, art, architechture, the fun,..etc...

  • who's the man?

  • Morton Downey.

  • oh you kid !!!!! great

  • Thanks, just when I thought all of the joy had been taken out of my surfing youtube I discover your return, please keep me posted next time you are fadded out. Thanks again !!
