I love how you can sense the rhythm section through your playing. This is magnificent. If there's a video on YouTube I've enjoyed more, I can't remember it.
@gbukUSA Many many thanks. I do approach the music as a complete performance, and try not to focus on only the piano but the whole vibe of the sound created through each instrument together.
It's great to see so many coments about this song...I thought this it was my little secret. It is such a shame that only a few who pay attention know it, because it deserves to be recognized more widely as an all time classic.
This was great! It sounded beautiful this is my favorite song on that album and I think one of his best songs ever (SD or solo work). You played it flawlessly.
Beautiful. This is my favorite from Morph the Cat. My dad showed me Donald Fagen and Steely Dan, and I love them to DEATH!! Amazing, lyrics, note combination and such....It just is so great. You did an amazing job at this. Thank you for sharing.
@jpopprincess101 They're my favourite - how could they not be! I think Morph The Cat is my favourite DF album.. and the sound quality is fabulous. Thanks for the kindness and it's my pleasure
What a beautiful tune. I was just listening to that song last night on Donald's Morph the Cat cd. I've always admired Mr. Fagan's chord voicings and melodies......such an original. You've done a lot of people a good service by posting this video in that you've basically spoon fed those who would learn this tune and made it easier for them.
Wow, this is just ridiculously good. A treat to hear someone play it on piano alone. It would take me a long, long time to figure out how to play this on my own, so I salute you.
Oh my God. I didn't know you released this in August. I search steely dan newest videos on here all the time thinking i would find fagen cover's. i guess you have to type in morph the cat. anyway bro, this is awesome. thanks for posting it!
Awesome logos. What's the chord at 1:03 on the word "that" after the Ebmaj7? to my ear it sounds like a C#/E... Also, what's that progression at 1:50. thanks for your time and helping me out again!
Thanks for posting, this is beautiful. I think the song loses out to the dense arrangement on the album, this solo piano arrangement delivers. The slight out-of -tune adds to the feel of the song . Thanks again
THanks. No, I live in England so its not too humid. However, I haven't had it tuned since I moved it to the current address! Can't afford it. Have you been loearning the original parts or making your own arrangements? Would be interested to hear!
One of my favorites off the album; gorgeous arrangement! Sounds great even on an out-of-tune piano, I bet this would sound awesome on a Rhodes...Excellent work!

You did such a fantastic job I don't know that turning your piano would make it any better. It gives your rendition character.

I like it. You hit the voicings dead on. If you have the voicings written, I'd love to buy them from you.
(have you figured out Maxine?)

when are you going to do H Gang, damn it?
Hgclaw 2 years ago
Ah I could do yeah, I'm not sure how well it would translate down to one instrument though!

i agree; probably poorly, but if anyone can pull it off, it's The Destroyer.

... I mean the dense instrumentation on the album.

excellent. i'm in agreement with you as to your choice of piano over Rhodes for this tune. uh, now i need to actually listen to the original.

Great rendition. Keep playin' the Dan tunes! You've inspired me to learn several of their songs on the guitar.
Piano sounds a bit flat - is it humid where you live?
