Hey, if you to hear lame, in the '50's we were taught to cover our headsand get under our desks at school in case of a atomic bomb attack. I once lived in a house up in the mountains about 60 miles from LA that had a bomb shelter. People were really scared.
I love hit how dude starts doing the hippie dance and the people around him are looking away in disgust or embrassment, KNOWING this is exactly how they grooved back then, now their "responsible." Too all of those back then who still toke and have fun...awesome, but the reality of this.."THEY GOT FOOLED AGAIN" and became "the man" themsleves, Groove on kid..fuck them
To the comment below from "llenox60" from a few months ago....I was 10 years old when Woodstock occured and I thank whatever God that might be out there that the 60's were a time of the end of the innocent as that person said in their comment. I cannot imagine having to grow up in an uptight world like the 50's. I shudder to think what the world would be like if the 60's never happened.
To all the older hippies out there, I say ~ THANK YOU ~
Thank you to the one's that did not SELL OUT and become the man. Sure people grow up, but look at this fucking war..the bad economical decisions in the US, these were made by OLDER people and not just that fool Bush/Cheyney. How many people Not Only Got Fooled Again, but were never fooled in the first place> Please, that generation deserves credit, but not as much as it gets. Give me the 70's and 80's any day of the week.
"Woodstock 07" wow we really could use one... I'm 22 years of age and I can't believe how retarded things are right now... humanity is just constipated, if only people now a day's gave a shit like they did in the 60's we could really do something good for our future and end this bullshit
The 60's were a time of the end of the innocent. Kids didn't know things back then like they do now. In many ways, that's a good thing, but in others-there are things kids should not know.
Speak the word man..so deep. Dude, fuck that shit..people knew what the fuck was going on. And now THESE same people are making their own kids not smoke weed, while they sneak tokes themselves. Innocent..the only innocent people were the kids who got drafted, did NOT want to go and got kiled. or their soul was killed. Innocent? They were getting high and fucking like crazy. hey, I'm down with that, but let's lose the romance of it. Guess who got fooled again..thanks for the economy.
That is not what I meant by innocent times. The kids who smoked dope and were having sex like crazy were very few, in comparison with the whole country. Now children are using many dangerous drugs, taking guns to school to kill other kids and 12 year olds are having babies. The students at Kent State were also innocent. As for the economy, we weren't watching the crooks who were controling the money as they filled their own pockets. Why are they not in jail?
it seems that with age comes a feeling of intellectual superiority. im sure some of it is true but i think it is for the most part an illusion. kids today have the same judgement as kids yesterday and the day before that and the decade before that. "the kids who smoked dope and were having sex like crazy were very few" as are the kids who shoot up and impregnate their peers. mass distribution of psychedelic drugs to the new generation is the answer. lets get on that.
I guess I'm not expressing myself correctly. I think you had to be there, born and growing up during the '60's to actually know how it was. I know from the point of view of a teenaged girl in the midwest. The most kids where I lived knew about "The Movement" was found in magazines. I did know guys who died in Viet Nam. I still do not believe that 12-13 year olds were doing the things then that are so common for them today.
As a teenager myself I believe that smoking dope really lets my mind relax, just let thoughts go in and out, kind of like meditating ya know? Maybe when i grow older I'll think differently. I think the problem is the hassle of the Laws. I think people can get along just fine without them. Let them be pot head, coke addicts, meth head, junkies. If they made a mistakte then let there be Rehabs and counseling waiting for them. Everybody could get along if they would stop categorizing people, not?
Woodstock just would be the same. They are supposed to have one in 09.But you know what happend when the tryed to recreate it all these chicks got raped and there was a shit load of violence and sucky bands like Korn and Limp Bizkit.
This was great! Thanks so much. I had the pleasure of seeing Arlo at a benefit in Reno earlier this year. The performance was truly amazing and one that I'll always remember. Kind regards to all of the Guthries.

there is going to be another woodstock in 09? what a waste of time that will be.
woodstock was magic, it can't just be "re-created"

And just like '99 it's most likely gonna be run by corporate fat cats.

I think he referenced Sarah Lee on the earlier clip. If so that must be his daughter Sarah lee Guthrie. Check her out with Johnny Irion. Tres Cool.

I believe Mr Guthrie is referring to Kilograms... As in 'bringing in a couple of kilograms'. (I'll leave you to decide what he's smuggling though!)
daintygnu 4 years ago
No. Boy you are showing your age. He is talking about Kilo 2.2 lbs of grass. Wow
