Wait. You said it was 78 billion light years away. According to NASA scientists, the universe is less than 20 billion years old. So how could it be 78 billion lights years away in less than 20 billion years. If you say the universe is accelerating in expansion so that space time is tearing itself apart at the edges, then we shouldn't be able to see that light since it needs to travel faster than the speed of light.

Think about it. Humans have a tendency of getting bored easily fast. 50 years ago a cell phone would have been witch craft. Today, we get bored of the last generation of the Iphone. So what if we do find other life in the universe? Then what? Study their culture for a few years. Then what? Learn to communicate with them? Then what? After a while, we eventually get bored and Then what? The fact that we can imagine whats out their keeps us occupied and i rather that over knowing the truth anyday.

Religion has everything to do with this. First verse of the Bible: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." After this verse, the Bible is a story of the Earth. But where's the story of the heavens? Although we have the Bible it's only half the story.... and yes, Christians do believe there is other life in the universe.... the first verse of the Bible confirms this.

The catholic church has only just recently come forth saying that life could and does exist in the universe. If they bible confirms it why did the church teach the opposite? These pictures are extremely important because it's proof positive just how busy the universe really is and helps sceptics to better come to grips with the very real possibility that we aren't alone. The problem is, the pics you speak of are highly controversial, constantly debunked, and arguable, whereas the deep space photos are uncontested proof.

Sorry but the most important image ever taken is that of the earth as seen from the moon. Our big blue planet does harbor life. Life so intellegent and advanced that we dare to seek and learn from that which is greater than ourselves. We are the only know species to have ever existed in 5 billion years on this planet to have reached out into the stars.
