  • No man is an island... But his hand...?

  • its not cuz im scared of a bite...spiders are just fucking horrifying y u no understand?

  • lol thier fighting,ha ha XD

  • All spider except those certain ones hate water.. they will immediately drown by you putting them around water like that they wont really bite you, they are fighting for their lives, wet they are less ahrmful because to them its defeat...just saying

  • @DarkManagerful "All spider except those certain ones..." Sure, you can say that about anything: "All people except those certain ones are named Professor Wigglesworth."

  • @memutic I do sure hope you are "trying" to be sarcastic because you sound really stupid..

  • @DarkManagerful actually they would not drown immediately. In fact a spider could outlast a human underwater... and then another human and another and another... and so on...

Some spiders even enter a coma like state when underwater and "come back to life" after being submerged for lengthy periods of time.

also at that scale, oxygen can cling to the spiders body making it hard for them even be completely underwater.

  • @newyorkmeable Well actually no you see if oxygen is stuck on a spider its because either the sipder has spung a special web with special silk or because of their fine hairs, spiders have chambers used for breathing oxygen not lungs, so they can oly stay submerged for minimal periods before they drown, spiders get fatigued by water or being wet which can lead to not being hostile or beligerant thus the sipders not attacking..

  • Black Widows are actually very docile, I used to play with them as a child. The Brown Recluse is going to get flushed down the toilet, or stepped on if I see it anywhere near me, or those I love, & care about.

  • @loveunderlaw Are you kidding? How did you "play" with them?

  • @whitespirit26 Just hold them gently in your hand, give them a stick to run up, & down on. As long as you don't hurt them, or threaten them in some way, they're very docile, & gentle little guys.

  • Cute, they're playing King of the hill.

You know, you were smart to do this in water, because then if you panicked or something, you could just dip your hand down and the spiders would be afloat, so you wouldn't have to flick them off or anything.

  • You know, I don't think that Recluse is full-grown.

  • @whitespirit26 her epigynum says otherwise.

  • Hey, is that a MALE black widow?? I've seen black ones like that with the squares down their backs. It's not a female Black Widow, for sure.

  • @whitespirit26 No, that's a female, males aren't even black....

  • @snipesnrifles Then it's not a Black Widow. Their markings are very clear.

  • @whitespirit26 No, only the females are big black and have the red hourglass or markings, the males are very small compared to the female and doesn't even look like the female, this is called sexual dimorphism, it's very common in nature. Trust me on this, I've been an ameteur entomologist ever since I was a little kid.

  • @snipesnrifles I get it, I recall that the males are not black, and know that all male spiders except the Wolf spiders are smaller than the females. But that spider is not a black Widow, male or female.

  • @whitespirit26 No, it is a black widow, L. Mactans to be exact, it has red spots on the back as well.

  • @snipesnrifles That's interesting, can you give me a source? I've never heard of Widows having anything but hourglasses, red or yellow.

  • @whitespirit26 Youtube won't let me put a link but a google search of L Mactans will show it. Also check the red back spiders of Australia, very close relatives to the Widows but as the name suggests, has red markings on the back.

  • why what big brass balls you have

  • D: I live in California and the black widows where i live D: are wayyy bigger and omg ;o;! i couldnt do what this man xD just did

  • Not only are you informative about the information conveyed, YOU HAVE SOME MASSIVE BALLS for doing this. Just the thought of a Brown Recluse making my fingers a jungle-gym is enough.

  • chuck nories called he wants to know what your trying to pull?

  • "Hi, My name is Arlo. When I get bitten and find out what i'll have to pay in medical fee's, I'll sure feel like a really big dumbass!"

  • NOPE!! NOPE!! NOPE!!! NOPE!!!

  • u gotta be the craziest motherfucker doing shit like this to put it on youtube fucking crazy damn

  • ur one ballsy man

  • dont try that at home? MOTHER FUCKER BLACK WIDOWS LIVE IN MY FUCKING BASEMENT!

  • lol at the widow trying to make webbing

  • I would never hold spiders tf.

  • i love this-- if you could contain a honey bee somehow you would see the same thing! they won't put in the effort to hurt you unless they are in a position to be hurt.

  • Not No, but HELL NO!

  • Just got really itchy....

  • dude your EPIC

  • That is a really realistic looking prosthetic hand.

  • ermmmmmm fuck that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We went from being outside, to controlled enviroment... to Santa's workshop? Why did it end at Santa's workshop at the mall? lol

  • fun shit

  • Priorities: You have them.

  • Hes so calm that he shaved while holding a Brown Recluse and Black Widow in his hand...

  • This dude is crazy

  • The spider just thinks your hand is a giant moving land mass.

  • I like the wait the black widow waves its leg around. "Waiter.... Ahem, waiter! *waves hand* EXCUSE ME!"

  • You have no idea how hard that was for me to watch.

  • im not afraid of spiders or anything and ive caught a black widow in a jar when 2 or 3 yrs ago and fed it to a wolf spider but put a black widow and a brown recluse on my hand id rather have someone put a cigar out in my eye

  • YOUR ONE BRAVE MAN!

  • balls of steel

  • This didnt help me over come my fears... It just informed me how danger a spider can BE!!!! AHHHHHH!@!@!@!@!@!@ :'( - Forever alone...

  • Lovely spiders. I always thought the Brown Recluse was smaller. Also I was bitten by a spider when I was younger and it left an indented scar, I am not sure what kind of spider it was.

  • @karatechopkitten where abouts do you live? common spiders that can do that are the recluse, hobo spider and more commonly the yellow sac spider. you might have also gotten a minor bacterial infection from the bite causing some amount of necrotic damage thus causing the depressed scar. just my 2 cents :)

  • @vmatt123 Western Montana.

  • @vmatt123 Let's stay in reality here - hobo spider bites haven't been verified to cause any medical damage, and as for yellow sac spiders, see my video on this channel.

  • @memutic hobo spiders have been shown to cause necrotic lesions in rabbits. one can only assume the same for humans, otherwise the hobo spider wouldn't be considered medically significant. As for the Cheiracanthium I have been bitten in broad daylight and have seen the results.

  • @vmatt123 You are one of the few people to have been bitten by a nocturnal spider in broad daylight. What were you doing to it? And, let's look at the scientific literature: Vetter and Isbister, 2004, reviewed hobo spider bites and found a lack of evidence. Same guys did the same thing with yellow sacs. If you can cite your evidence for the rabbit thing, please do so. Otherwise it's just hearsay.

  • @memutic made a silken tube on in my shirt that I put on. I noticed a lump through my shirt and rubbed it. Got bit.

  • @memutic @memutic What seems to lead most people into believing (and lack of quality scientific proof) that hobo spiders do not have similar necrotic traits as the recluse does is due to the fact of two things. 1 lack of literature that is credible 2 The low rate of envenomation from this particular species. I have a couple buddies of mine who have been bitten more than once (one of them on a dare) and have seen first hand the results. Slow healing, indented lesion at bite location. Check CDC.

  • kill them. kill them with fire

  • Next time, try it using your penis. I bet you'd lose all your faith in those two not biting you.

  • I had a tingle in my leg and freaked out because I thought it was a spider. God damn, going to have fun sleeping tonight.

  • I regret to inform everyone that the black widow spider actually emits a high-pitched squeal @1:24 that is inaudible to human hearing. All black widow spiders within a 30 meter radius will pick up the sound and travel to your location as soon as possible.

  • yeah but if a brown recluse happens to end up in your bed sheets and you roll around? yeah yerr phucked

  • It would be cool if you did the same test on spiderman to see if he will bite you. I like picturing him doing the same thing as these spiders; touching the water with his hands and being like "Damn, I cant get off this hand cause of all this water!"

  • Comment removed

  • how the fuck did you get those guys off your hand after two minutes?

  • Erm...

  • Crazy ass!! I had a tingling the whole time

  • I catch and release brown recluses all the time. I live with two women who demand that I smash the poor beasts on a weekly basis. The only thing I'm afraid of is one of the girls scaring it while I take it outside.

  • You sir, are a ritard.

  • @MrWorld09 the fuck is a ritard?!

  • I want your medical records around the date of this recording.

  • Well yeah, if unprovoked they're fine, but most times when you find them in the outdoors you don't have the luxury of them being unprovoked. When you grab a piece of firewood and there's a Black Widow on it, chances are she's going to be pretty angry.

  • How in the hell is this fucker not dead!?!?!!??!

  • Ok, now try it with a Sydney Funnel Web and a Brazilian Wandering Spider :-D

  • Comment removed

  • Having had both of these spiders in my childhood home all the time, I have no idea how you did this. Our black widows were 3 times larger than that one. I almost grabbed a towel off the back of a door without realizing there was a huge female black widow on it. We had around 40 around our house every summer.. Not a good feeling.

  • @eelexa How do you know how big the black widow in the video is? Maybe I have big hands...

  • @memutic lol

  • @memutic it does look like a juvinile or male though. They both have the tendencies to have more markings aside from the hourglass broken into segments along their back. You did say it was a L. Mactans though and they are known for having markings ranging from all black with the classic hourglass to having red stripes and dots. I am loving your videos memutic. Keep it up!!! :)

  • Also, I read in the Internet that the Brown Recluse is ticklish and has a proclivity for nut allergies. Can't find that kind of trivia on the Black Widow, but I've heard people say they don't prefer 80's Top 40 music. Not like any of that is really relevant here. Keep up the good work, Arlo!

  • @abnoctos That is SO not TRUE!!! You read it wrong! The Brown Recluse has ticklish nuts and a proclivity to allergies! As for the Black Widow, I have found that Frank Sinatra and Barry Manilow work well to rid the home of infestations. Arlo, you the man, I'm sure as HELL not gonna try that one anytime soon! :D

  • iv stomped the shit out of those Brown ones.. See them in my garage every few months..

  • wait, don't black widows have an hourglass shape on them?

  • @nataliethedragoness that's on their bellies

  • UNN fuck that noise

  • Spiders, like divorce attorneys, are just misunderstood. I love spiders, and it's so awesome to see another spider-lover.

  • no no no no no no no no nooooo nope

  • @crypto75837

    ROFL!!! what he said! lol

  • so how did you get them off? smashed them or let them go?

  • FUCK THAT SHIT

  • fucking smash them lol

  • BALLS.

  • dude i knew spiders dont bite out of spite, they just freak me out alot

  • Now I may be wrong... But, toward the end there when you see the brown recluse raising it's legs like that... Isn't that a sign of aggression? Maybe there's a better word than aggression, but it seems like when spiders do that it means they're getting a bit agitated >.>

    Again, I may be wrong...

  • You should explain the trick why your hand is underwater cuz even if you say "Don't try this at home" there's always a few idiots would try it just because they saw it on Youtube. But then, I shouldn't be worrying about those idiots...

  • @333XD I do explain that, you just have to read all these great comments first. It's because the spiders kept running up my arm and hiding in my armpit.

  • *lifts feet off floor

  • For science!

  • FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT! :D

  • Maybe the water chilled them down... But can spiders of such size penetrate human skin at all? In Central Europe no spider can.

  • @5mnz7fg brb, moving to central europe

  • you gotz dem big balls

  • why don't they just shoot their web and web sling out of there?

  • this is BY FAR the most unnerving video on YOUTUBE! Eyeball surgery is pleasant compared to this.

  • .....niggggga please

  • SHIT DUDE YOUZ GOTZ BALLZ

  • "here im going to show you how nice spiders are"

*starts listing deadly facts about said spiders*

  • ARECNIPHOBIC!

  • Jeez! I'm not really even afraid of spiders but I'd be crying like a hungry, angry baby with those suckers on my hand for 2 minutes.

  • Actually, I believe that the hobo spider, found North of the Mason Dixon, is more dangerous than either of those. Primarily because it has almost identical venom to the recluse, but is more aggressive, due in part to poor eyesight. I have been bitten by a hobo. I have had a hobo charge me from the far side of the room as I sat on the floor watching tv. I have handled (safely) many other insects, including many spiders and wasps. I don't recommend anyone handle a hobo.

  • @indigowulf People like you are NOT HELPING. Check your facts. And I don't believe you about the hobo spider biting you.

  • @memutic i saw something about hobo spiders being aggressive, and that when people (idk the wording) tent the house with poison hobo spiders came in afterwards; does that sound right or something they exaggerated

  • @memutic My Grandmother was bitten several times by a Black Widow. She was very sick and sensitive to light for 9 months after that. The bite is very dangerous for elderly.Black widows here in Alabama are HUGE and love to hide in those cement water meter things in the ground with the iron lids.

  • @memutic /watch?v=rPZ9wAdNEaQ idk if that is a hobo spider or not just thought it was a strange video as i have never seen a spider actually chasing someone, nor thought a spider would ever do that..

  • @TheAjair I can't seem to get that link to load. What's the name of the video?

  • @memutic "Huge spider charging me" it only has around 200 views.

  • @TheAjair Hmm, that might be a hobo spider - it's a male, that's for sure. Looks like the same family as Hoboes but we'd need a much clearer view of the abdomen to be sure. In any case, it's harmless.

  • @memutic Is it normal for spiders to chase people like that though? Just seems so weird to me.

  • @indigowulf Honestly as i recall most spiders look for shade and cool places, you in the middle of the room would seem to be shade. I've had spiders hide under me for shade and when you move they tend to just flee, at least that has been the case for me through my life

  • @indigowulf I havent been bitten by a hobo, Though i think it was because i gave him $5.

  • Fuck spiders, I get paid without them

  • NOPE

  • yah...ok so spiders dont bite like crazy...doesnt mean im gonna go pick them up...

  • WHAT-YA NOT GONNA FRENCH KISS A RABID RATTLE SNAKE?! DAAANG YA!

  • black widow are tottaly poisonous i cant beleive it BOTH ARE THEM ARE

  • people like this guy should pay much more for health insurance...

  • Never have seen a black widow, but I did have a brown recluse in my home that jumped about 6 freaking feet and landed on my mother's leg. Luckily she was wearing thick pants. 1 seconds later it sped off like Speedy Gonzales and my cat chased it under the couch where it was never seen again. I was frightened for weeks.

  • @MultiFabulous

    Bleh! "1 second"

  • I try this where I fucking want to try it, okay?

  • Oh god. Now I need to make sure those aren't hiding in my house...

  • Feels like something be crawling on me now

  • NO!

  • That scare me to have them fight on my hand. They would bite if they're fighting. One could miss and bite your finger.

  • Wouldn't they be more distressed and likely to bite you because of being scared of the water and not having the option to climb around? I know that some species of spider are not naturally that aggressive and it's difficult to actually get them to bite you.

  • Spiders bother me all the time. One time i was goign to go masterbate and while looking for porn a spider droped down onto my hand while i was controlling the mouse.Three times while taking a piss i have had spiders suspend down and try and land on my. Other people have said this has happened in my bathroom.I have got bitten on my side and got real sick and had really achy joints along with vomiting and headache. The bite really hurt and the pain shot into my side. Fuck spiders.

  • i not only cried watching this, it now feels like spiders are all over me.

  • Comment removed

  • i would wear mittens, and i approve this message.

  • they think your hand isd a rock, thats why they dont bite

  • you got some hefty balls.

  • Not to be mean, but I kind of wanted to see them fight...

  • WHYYYYYYYYYY would you ever.

  • hell yeah you should kill one of these if you see it in your room, people get bitten by spiders when they roll over in their sleep,

  • Venom, not poison

  • Comment removed

  • I see what you did their, you gave the spiders an ultimatum. Survive on your hand, or drown. I wouldn't bite what's keeping me alive either.

  • @Cb138inRs "I see what you did their"

    "their"

  • "I wouldn't bite what's keeping me alive either."

I see. So you swallow meat without chewing?

  • @haitianxu .....Haha?

  • I fainted

  • You are now aware that there is a spider within 3 meters around you.

  • My little brother was just a toddler when he 'bothered' a brown recluse by putting his foot in his shoe when it bit his big toe. His toe is malformed, and almost had it surgically removed. I don't care to 'respect' spiders. They are just insects, and I don't fear them. Not liking them doesn't mean I fear them.

  • @fossilpro Spiders are not insects.

  • do you have a death wish

  • my uncle had a black widow chillin on his neck, until he realized he did and then knocked it to the ground, thank god he did not get bitten though

  • fuck that shit. that gave me the chills i hate spiders!!!

  • Watch out, we got a badass over here!

  • @mikesentra lol my thoughts exactly

  • Brown spider 1:23 hahahah i want to hug the giant not u!

  • Everyone these insects are very amazing and we shouldn't kill them and we should provide the space they need!

  • 1:23 the brown spider has panic attack- we gonna die

black widow- quit beeing a pussy and get the fck off meh

  • its true everything is bigger in texas including stupidity.

  • Brown recluse spiders aren't immediately dangerous: their venom has an enzyme that breaks down flesh over several days before becoming a major issue. The Black Widow...well that really is a problem...

  • 3:05 "Dont try this at home"

    NO NEED TO WORRY :D

  • beurk

  • Yikes.
