how about both Boyd and Bixler Zavala are awesome, and has anyone made the assumption (except trippylantern) that he wasn't even referring to the band.
Fuck. I Started listening to TMV and now i realize that's one of the best and creative bands of our time. they created a new concept of feeling music. i cannot explain exactly what i feel. its surreal. love TMV. Brasil loves TMV.
the mars volta is one of the best live bands out there, especially how well they can perform their complex and long-ass songs while still managing to sound fantastic. get bent, haters.
yeah but their complexity compromises their live performances 'cause they're so goddamn hard to recreate in concert. And you could easily compare Cedric's vocals to Geddy Lee's vocals, both are prog rock singers who have incredible ranges but don't have great quality voices when they hit the high notes. But even then, Cedric can't hit all the high notes that he does on the recordings
Have you even seen The Mars Volta in concert before? or just listened to them on Youtube? Big difference. Get away from your computer screen and go see a show. douche.
1. Listen to the odyssey. i know it was written for halo, but it's fucking amazing.
2. Cedrics vocals are good, but Boyd could outsing the shit of him any day
3. Obviously he is putting a lot into performances and that's why he can't hit notes worth shit half the time. Incubus can put on a good show too. I know, I've seen them do it. I have yet to see the volta, but from what i've seen and heard, they're not as good live.
brandon boyd wishes at night he could have a falsetto half as good as cedric's, do we need to even speak about stage presense? I've seen Volta 3 times and Incubus once, both very impressive live to say the least, but Boyd. Cannot be in the same sentence as Cedric Bixler-Zavala
He was just joking when he yelled "Incubus!" because that little lead-in that Omar was picking sounds like something Incubus would come up with. I don't think he was hating on them.
Brandon Boyd is too hot to be made fun of by Cedric. Don't get med wrong I love TMV - one of the best live shows i've ever been to was a TMV show in London a month ago. But why does he have to hate on everyone that is not so different than everyone else... Boyd is a great vocalist too! Gotta love Cedric for his talent though!
alright i'm just as much a volta fan as i am incubus. actually incubus was the turning point into better music for me. but in all honesty, brandon boyd is a much more solid vocalist than cedric. anything he does on an incubus album he can do live. anything cedric does on a volta album, well, you've seen the videos.
You bring up a very valid point. While both bands are very unique and have much creative control (which is usually, always a good thing), they're not really comparable bands. Different types of musical style.
This is probably one of my favorite performances of Metatron. Cedric is vocally spot on--my only complaint is that he's a little off key during "folding wormholes," but whatever. He can do whatever he wants with it, since he wrote the melodies.
Anyway, it was great. Thank you guys for existing.
TMV turns out unbelievable records with monotonous regularity, and each one requires multiple listens to appreciate the true genius of the music. They are consistently misunderstood and unfairly bashed by narrow-minded critics; we are fortunate that Cedric, Omar, and the entire TMV crew choose their fans over their fame.
knowing Cedric, it was referring to it definition (a male demon that sucks the life out of women) rather than the band. Why? Because he can....or a possible reference to Goliath!!!
He was doing a mock Brandon Boyd pose as he said that; the lot of celebrity worshiping little female sycophants are everywhere. "God's gift to women" -goddamned idolaters, TMV OWNS YOUR ETERNAL SOUL ............(cedric will subjugate yr tits)

wow everyone is completely over-analyzing the "incubus" comment. i think he just says stuff like that because he's not great at stage talk.

hangoverparadise:
1.incubus doesnt even come close to the complexity of the mars volta.
2.cedrics vocals are amazing and cannot be compared.
3.the amount of energy he puts into live performances i wouldnt blame him not being able to hit some notes.

Brandon doesn't use the crap out of vocal effects though. gotta admit it.

He yells "incubus" because that band rips off a lot of their shit. If you dont believe me spend some time and compare both bands' videos

What are you talking about? Incubus has been around years longer and their music is nothing alike, nor are their videos.

Cedric is way cooler than Brandon Boyd and in general would kick his ass metaphorically in a cool contest any day. Thus, Cedric, rip away.

It was more likely a joke on the band - he's also yelled "Hello, we're Mudvayne" on stage before. He tends to mock other bands.
