Hmm., maybe you should do some research as to why Valiant packed up and left Australia. Ford and Holden decided to play crooked and shafted Valiant at every turn including illegal bribes and more that go all the way to the top. E49 would destroy you Fords anyday
The 265ci engine proved to be an embarrassment to both Ford and GM with a 6 cylinder engine producing more than one horse power per cubic inch. The overrated phase 3 GTHO did not even come close to producing one BHP per ci. This engine took a full weight Charger from zero to 100 in just 14.1 seconds with the GTHO coming in at 16.7. Then the pathetic effort from GMH with the big 327 Chev powered Monaro, 21.5 seconds, the Charger could have almost stopped and started again and still beat the monaro
Guys this car is super cool and very rare but they did build it in the states. This car is almost exactly like the 1978 King Cobra that had a limited run of about 4330. And yes I know there are many differences, but your not going to get one of those 400 Falcon Cobras here. Check it out.
I used to own car number 183 from 1988 to around 1990. I am from Melbourne now living in the USA. I would love to hear from anyone who may have information about this car!

I have an XC coupe that wouuld kick ass on any Cobra maybe just couse it dosnt have all the bull shit on it and it dose have a 351, toploader and a fuck you balls out driver that dosnt bitch up behind the wheel like all the other old bitches that own them do.
I have 2 Ford Coupes coming up for sale soon. One is a 1974 XB and the other a 1978 XC. Both 351ci Cleveland Auto's. Google for > Bloody Paraplegic John Dwyer < and follow the links. Cheers, John. Perth, Western Australia.
@kingsta212 fuck off the xc cobra will shit on e49 charger the charger is good for strait line speed try and tern and she hendels like a bucket of shit the xc cobra's would go good in a strait line and handels like a dream around the corners dumb ass
A teacher at my high school in 1974?, she had the "Cobra" version. Sexy yes! Curious yes!
Can't really remember, since I was king hit in 1970? something at an all you can eat/drink BBQ, cost $1-00. Went there in a Charger, and was layed out on the lay back front seat, after my brothers Kung Fu'd the guy, who was 10 pick handles across the shoulders. Big guy!
I was 12, drank too much, got a blood nose and then slept for a while in the Charger. etc,
@RedtailFox1 - I didn't see any Cobras finish 1-2 at Bathurst, either. The 1977 cars were Falcon hardtops, and both Cobras failed to finish in '78. And I was a Moffat/Ford fan in the seventies.
@LYNCHIE1011 technically yes, although they had their own Australian design facilities and by the end of Valiant in Australia they were nothing like their US counterparts
And let me guess, your favourite "MUSCLE" car from the 1980's is a Mitsubishi Sigma GSR?! Valiant evolves into MItsubishi, Mitsubishi Australia goes bust.....
@kingsta212 the poor old valiant never won a bathurst, did`nt even get a second if i recall correctly, doomed to fail , that crappy torsion bar suspension on the front of the first valiant from the day they were released to the day they went bust., they were an ok car though.
Kills me to watch this video, I bought a cobra in 1989 #145 for $10,000 and sold it 12 months later for $4,000 and a valiant charger. Now the damn things are worth $80,000...

Nice looking car.
Same body as the Mercury Montego/Cyclone.
Anyone saying that we didn't have cars like this in the States just haven't been paying attention.
I had a 1970 Mercury Cyclone when I was 16. It had a 429 CI , 4Speed Hurst and the famous crosshair grill.
The Montego was more of a family car that came in 2 door and 4 doors but some of them were well equipped muscle cars too.
The Ford Torino's were also very common in the USA and very similar to this car.
