At A4e last week I tried to look for a job on their 20 yr old computers then the A4e staff handed me a huge stack of jobs to try for 80% of them were scam pyramid schemes from Total Jobs site and the others were cleaning jobs that are only 2hrs per day and I would have to spend £6 on the bus getting to the location to then make a profit of £6 per day. I know theirs people that dont want a job but there are no where near enough jobs for the people that do want work.

I spent the whole time on edge trying to travel back home. when I arrived at the train station some black lad was sizing me up asking me all kinds off personal questions. who am I, where I live, who I hang with, who I know, what girls I kick with then when he accepts a call I hear him asking the person at the other end if they know me. We spent 8 hours practically doing nothing apart from filling out our personal details so they could get paid, then onto writing a CV which I had made clear I already had one and thats why I hadn't completed the work. End result I get pulled to one side into a room where she gets real personal so I blank out and stair into space the entire time then she confronts me and asks if I'm a schizophrenia. That was the worst day ever I felt so paranoid after she had put that in my mind so incompetent..

@dolesponger I do, taxation is the means by which the poor are robbed and the rich elites benefit , inflation works in the same way. Taxation does not largely go to pay for nurses and roads , a lot of it is used to pay the 'national' debt interest etc.

I was in a scheme like this, it was called Reed in partnership. It was a very depressing experience and it shocked me into the job I'm doing now. I work part time and earn very little, but its anything to get me out of the despair.

When I was on A4E I had no help it was me and numerous ex work staff as we had been laid off! instead of helping us find a job we were given pointless exercises to do, the staff claimed they were to busy to put in a good word for us with agencies that they had contact with. It was the biggest joke of my entire life and when I found work via a friend they tried to take credit for that.

The point is that if these private companies are given free workers paid for by thye tax payer they will never have an incentive to pay a real wage and thus create a 'real' job. I have talked to people who run their own companies and have been told that many have been approached by these companies (A4E) offering them a free worker for 1-4 weeks and that they would pay the wage through the companies books for them. In other words, back to work scheme's like this pretend to get people into paid work so they can claim a big hefty bonus, the company taking them on get free work for a short while, and then the poor get who was conned loses everything.
All they do is build people up and knock them down when they should be getting some real training (NVQ's, real work experience) Fuck even working in a charity shop is better than sticking people infront of a computer all day and calling it training.
In the good old days of the 1960's the kids at school knew that if you got yourself a normal but fairly decent pay (paid in cash each week) a house or flat can be bought, no problem. Nowadays that's impossible, so that means the young generation are excluded, I believe the minimum pay needs to be nearer £16 an hour just to catch up to what was enjoyed in the 1970's. At A4e last week I tried to look for a job on their 20 yr old computers then the A4e staff handed me a huge stack of jobs to try for 80% of them were scam pyramid schemes from Total Jobs site and the others were cleaning jobs that are only 2hrs per day and I would have to spend £6 on the bus getting to the location to then make a profit of £6 per day. I know theirs people that dont want a job but there are no where near enough jobs for the people that do want work.

She asked me what job I wanted and what were my barriers. I told her that I had aspergers and she thought that I could change my mindset. Then when I told her that I had a problem with authority, she said "Why do tax payers have to pay for benefits. What would you do if there where no benefits?". I had an argument with her and she said "You're not perfect", and "you just don't want a job". I left feeling angered and distraught.

@dolesponger I do, taxation is the means by which the poor are robbed and the rich elites benefit , inflation works in the same way. Taxation does not largely go to pay for nurses and roads , a lot of it is used to pay the 'national' debt interest etc.

When I was on A4E I had no help it was me and numerous ex work staff as we had been laid off! instead of helping us find a job we were given pointless exercises to do, the staff claimed they were to busy to put in a good word for us with agencies that they had contact with. It was the biggest joke of my entire life and when I found work via a friend they tried to take credit for that.

All they care about is meeting targets, the recruiters where I went were always constantly busy with other things, if you really needed them for something you always came second. And they were really rude, plus other things went on there that I'm not going to reveal on here.
There were double standards, and you got repremanded really harshly sometimes for something that wasn't your fault or was a mistake, if you got pissed off with them they'd punish you with a warning. Bunch of shit it was.

The girl's comments at the end really struck a chord with me. I'm attending a similar organization now and I''m being treated like an idiot.
I've been looking for work for some time. I wanted to volunteer to gain some experience and new skills, but was told I could lose my money if I did! (You're only allowed to do charity work). I'm now being turned down for jobs for not having enough recent experience!
Oh well, I'm sure the newspaper towers I build at my "training courses" will help.

Benefit life is too easy and comfortable.Too many People on benefit always seem to smoke and drink and go everywhere in taxis,have the latest mobile phone and £100 trainers, they contribute nothing to society and many are having a laugh at every hard working taxpayer who is funding their useless life.If you choose to live off the state then the state has the absolute right to demand you to attend these courses and make some effort to develop yourself, if you dont like it then stop claiming.

when i was there i cud of got job if i got my sia licence but they never did listen to me they did'nt do anythink about it instead i looked at 4 walls for 13 weeks. what i need is a crash course to get my driver licsence but oh know they cant get funding for that but they can afford to pay me tax payers money im gettin well over 600 amonth in total with benefits thats a crash course there and they only ave to that once.

A4E just another way for the government to fiddle the unemployment figures and and waste even more money. The only jobs they can get you are the ones with zero guaranteed hours as no respectable employer will use A4E. They get paid £190 per week per person and up to £1500 bonus for each person they make take one of there zero rated contract jobs. This is going to cost us tax payers millions. I am sick of working my ass off just to get by so the government can squander my hard earned dosh!

Under the frreedom of information act, people should demand to see how long the jobs secured by the likes of A4E actually lasted and exactly how much they recieved in bonuses for these so called "jobs". If you don't believe me, watch some of these shows and you will see that most who secured jobs through A4E lost it shortly afterwards. A4E are making a fortune and providing nothing but a bogus service. Someone with a shred of decency should expose this and start helping people honestly.

@KNIGHTSTALE22 I read in the IFS figures on services like this and it apparantly costs £36 000 to get someone a posting that usually only lasts 3 months. The point is that if these private companies are given free workers paid for by thye tax payer they will never have an incentive to pay a real wage and thus create a 'real' job. The point is why should the Tax payer pay a private company to allow someone to work for nothing. My forefathers didnt die face down in french mud for this.

I have talked to people who run their own companies and have been told that many have been approached by these companies (A4E) offering them a free worker for 1-4 weeks and that they would pay the wage through the companies books for them. In other words, back to work scheme's like this pretend to get people into paid work so they can claim a big hefty bonus, the company taking them on get free work for a short while, and then the poor get who was conned loses everything.

In the good old days of the 1960's the kids at school knew that if you got yourself a normal but fairly decent pay (paid in cash each week) a house or flat can be bought, no problem. Nowadays that's impossible, so that means the young generation are excluded, I believe the minimum pay needs to be nearer £16 an hour just to catch up to what was enjoyed in the 1970's. Company's with billions salted away can afford it, the young need to feel there is a goal in sight

Coldstreamer - It does not matter whether your 'testimonials' compare you to the next Winston Churchill, Martin Luther King or Ghandi. The point is that you still have to get permission to show them. Otherwise this is a breach of confidentiality. I'd have thought someone in a tutoring capacity and running their own business would have known that! So many bad testimonials existy as they look obvoiusly faked, even if they are not as they all look the same.

Me too, unfortunately you can't find out because A4e are a private company and exempt from the 2000 Freedom on Information Act. Since A4e is funded by the taxpayer to run the new Deal program I think we should have a right to know what they pay themselves
