ooh that's amazing quality, what was that like in person? like, was it quite dark? because i'm hoping to get this camera if it is good at taking bright pictures and videos in not-very-good lighting?

@papergangsta0111 the video was done during the sunset so there is no so much light around, for nighty pics it has a pretty good flash so there is no problem, I've done a lot of videos at night and the quality is quite as good. I'll be adding a night video so we'll have the change of review it.

yes, it does when you zoom in or out with it in movie mode. i have no idea why they would do something so f-n stupid.

follow up:

the samsung st1000 does not have the zoom mute feature. i tried one out and it is a really nice little camera. same touch screen menus and slightly better optical zoom (5times). significantly higher price too.

muting the mic when zooming in or out was the worst decision samsung has ever made.thats a reason Im not getting this camera. good vid though

there are a couple differences with st550, they are:

a) LCD screen .5 inch wider

b) HDMI output

firmware, functions, quality/resolutions are the same.

agree, however they had two options, doing the zoom with additional noise due the "zoom" or silence it, so to be a slim cam isn't too bad since its primary to take pics, but agree muting really sucks.

yeah youre right about that, but my point is that some other cameras can zoom without muting, so I think is not necessary. too bad because is a really nice camera except for that

nothing in comparation whit the wb550 or wb550 or even the tz7 from panasonic i prefer more power zoom and a wide 24 mm lens and than an screen in front of the camera so see my portait pics but alwasy there is people obsses whit themselves so i think they would need this one

yeah, it has a "smart mode" very cool, but if you know about photography it can be very tricky to set since the settings, it has a lot "pro" features (Im still reading the 100+pages manual every few days)

nope, u can upload the file directly from the cam, no conversion needed, its mp4 format.

yes, it has auto focus and manual, even you can manually put the focus on whatever you want using one touch on the screen.
