You could see some of his failings in this interview. He stuffed too much of the storylines in and it just didn't leave room for characters to have personalities with all the explaining of what's going on and has happened and will happen. And that in my opinion is the biggest thing the film failed at. At no point did I connect with the characters or care about them despite just LOVING them in the animated series.

Sad, I wonder if his daughter is disillusioned now. The cartoon did not hit him even after watching a couple of the shows. Then they had to rent the entire season and watch it as a family to get the whole thing. Hmm. Now that the movie is ruined, maybe we have to talk about a whole remake, 5 years of making gone to the vendor crying over lost cabbages "MY CABBAGES" , this movie reflects lost cabbages.

I really don't care for M Night Shyamalan movies but I thought I would try this one for the visual effects. Thought the acting and script was poor. Afterward I watched some of the cartoon series. He did screw it up.

@zango1233 its funny how people say that their fans of the show but they know nothing about the movie. the names were pronounced the asian way in the movie and it was also suppose to be said the asian way in the cartoon but they said it the american way. so it was the cartoon who got the names wrong in the first place. i did my research instead of bitching about every single thing and nitpicking the crap out of the movie.

i liked the movie and im a big fan of the cartoon and if anyone says it failed to do justice to the original show. they are either lying or saw a completly different movie than i did. yes of course there are changes to the movie but when it come to the main events and major plot points their all there in some form or another. i would go as far to say that 75% of the movie is supported by events that occured in the show. i love avatar but i didnt judge the movie like some crazy fanboy

You could see some of his failings in this interview. He stuffed too much of the storylines in and it just didn't leave room for characters to have personalities with all the explaining of what's going on and has happened and will happen. And that in my opinion is the biggest thing the film failed at. At no point did I connect with the characters or care about them despite just LOVING them in the animated series.

Just saw the movie and it was heartbreakingly painful to watch i couldn't stop laughing and dozing off and why was Momo's identity being hidden at the air temple plus Sokka wasn't funny at all after the first 10mins, Katara put me to sleep Aang was sad 24-7 and did too much waving his arms around just for a single airbend Why did appa look like a scary overgrown meat-headed flying demonic sloth gave my kids nightmares The whole movie was a blooper i wonder if they had bloopers lol Great review

If you can't handle that then please give it to a new director to remake book 1 and then continue the books. the movie was the worst film i've seen in a year or two. I usually like most stuff out there and that says a lot when I dislike a film. Acting was awful, the storytelling by M Night was horrible. I don't see how this got by in production as being worth releasing.

Mr. Shyamalan, your personal "vision" of the show and immeasurable lack of talent produced a piece of celluloid excrement that will only be remembered for how NOT to make a movie. Have your children disowned you yet? Hopefully Mike and Brian have learned their lesson ... that a live-action film is NOT the "fullest visual potential" of their show. Glad they didn't use the title "Avatar" 'cause it ain't. No sequels for this and hopefully this is the last we'll see of Shyamalan. Bring on Season 4!

Well, The after effects came from the Lucas company. The story came from another good director. Nothing came from him. He was just trying to get up with someone else famous production. How so pathetic. How he graduate? He only made two good movies is all. He took this great series and ruined, because he does not have any creativity.
Wonder how he is going to pay back to the Paramount pictures. The thing that really killed the movie was the acting.

I really think we might be judging Shyamalan too harshly. I was a fan of the series too, but cmon, give the man a chance. Surely there are good things about this movie too.... Taking this man and his work down is not only pointless and at this point unjustified, it is also really immature.

I think he took this movie saw how many fans there were behind it, thought about how many of them would go to see the movie and saw a nice big pay check at the end of it not caring wether the movie was amazing or complete shit. which it was. but then again this is a 3 series movie, in that case after the first one nobody will want to see the other 2. So it could be what I said or he could just be one of the worst directors.
