I heard most of the "construction workers" were not construction workers at all, at least not for that site, just hired goons brought in to intimidate and provoke while the police littered KFC on the side of the road.

Reply to tofuke. I grew up in Langford & approve of 90% of what the mayor has achieved.

Parks & recreational facilities & a new library & another library soon. Top notch volunteer firefighter facilities. As Langford was always knocked & ridiculed for being poor & redneckish the housing boom has given many young families a chance to own a house. The cheaper land values with legalized secondary suites has enabled people to get in the housing market. Do you want your kids growing up in a condo?

You can protest all you want, but these people were tresspassing in a work zone & were given adequate time to move on. There is a difference. You could protest in front of city hall till you you're old & as long as you aren't blocking the sidewalk. Do you understand the difference. I would suggest if people didn't want to live here then there would be no demand for housing.

You are misinformed. Most weren't IN the work zone. Most were on the side of the highway, near the Shell station on the lawn: public space: + like you just said, that's allowed. The only people who blocked the road were the RCMP when they were forcing every single person coming and going in the area (including uninvolved residents) to show their ID.

And the workers who said on TV that they were being prevented from working? The vast majority of the 100-200 goons who were called in actually were assigned to OTHER projects and were late to work on the 29th because they gathered on the side of the highway (NOT the work area) and physically harassed the demonstrators, calling them homos and sluts. Les Bjola sanctioned this and they were all paid double time to be there.
