Bush's job is to protect the American people, and guide us to success. Stop riding the "Hate Bush" wagon, just because it's "cool" and actually think about what he did. Was protecting millions, honestly so heinous?
How did waterboarding save lives, a don't give me the "Liberty Towers" BS, if anything torture will only hurt us. It will only breed MORE hate against the U.S., only lead to more lost lives. The literature from interrogators that has been put out seems to contradict the views that waterboarding derives good information, waterboarding 183 times in one month is torture, and it is despicable. Protecting millions my ass....
I doubt we will ever know the truth about any questions asked or answered based on water boarding for sure, i think its trying to say to people"oh its not torture so ok this and sell out more of your rights" obviously it is torture or else it wouldn't work.
it will breed more hate against the US because the US is turning there backs on there own laws and morals and selling out too the fears being sold to them allowing the terrorists to win and turn America into something its not, THEM!
@SkateAlexHawk man either youre young or stupid! What this does is now allow our enemies to waterboard and torture US soldiers then use Bushs own words and "legailty" to justify it" second torture has proven to gather false and misleading information where traditional interogation actually gets us true and helpful intel!
@salvadory - I will agree with you on that one. They should probably stick to traditional methods of interrogation. Then again, what do I know? I'm not in intelligence or the military so I can't give you a good answer on what they should or shouldn't be doing. If I were Obama or Bush, I'd simply let the military decide how to handle it since it's their job.

Well what are you waiting for? Get your liberal asses over to the Hague in the Netherlands and file the official charges. You can indict a ham sandwich so if Bush is the slam dunk you Libs make him out to be then what the fuck are you waiting for?
He didn't lie in Iraq. They went off the intelligence they had and both sides agreed they should go inot Iraq. It's not a lie if you believe it to be true.
@canuckaho first of all even after the CIA told them it wasnt true both Cheney and Bush continued to go on the talk shows and the speech circuit for months claiming the same intel was "solid and a "slam dunk case" They knew it wasnt true yet continued to lie- thats a lie any way you slice it!
Everything I did was legal, because I did it. No evidence of thwarted attacks.
Thats the point of rights. Everyone has them. Conservatives should be really glad for them cause if they didn't have them all those people calling barak obama fascist and nazi would get thrown in jail. So stop fighting the people who want to make sure you are protected from your "tyrannical" government
WALLACE: I want to follow up on that. Whether it is interrogation of terror prisoners [blah blah], are you ever puzzled by all of the concern in this country about protecting of rights of people who want to kill us? BUSH: That is an interesting way to put it. I wouldn't necessarily define some of the critics of my policy that way. I would say that they want to be very careful that we don't overstep our bounds from protecting the civil liberties of Americans.
I really don't care if they're able to twist words and find their way through loopholes in order to call it "legal." Even if it was legal, that doesn't make it right. To anyone who sits here and actually tries to justify torture... just wait until the day comes that YOU are suspected of something and YOU are the one being tortured.
I don't understand why this is such a big deal. Bush did what he had to do. Those muslim terrorists could have been planning something else, he had our safety in mind.
@AmericaUnderGod tell you why because now when our boys are captured they can do the same thing then use Bush's own words to justify it- my sons in the service- im glad you consider it ok for him to be waterboarded - ! Generals have come out in uproar this incredibly reckles statement- ps it was proven that regular interogation gathered far more info than those waterboarded!
To tell the truth I swear to God I hope other leaders of the world are listening to this assclown, especially americas enemies. After listening to this bastard I will never feel sorry for ANY american soldier that is captured by the enemy anywhere. I want american soldiers to recieve the same kind of torture that this evil skulls and bones member is permitting. Even that, what kind of country elects a man that publically admits he is in a secret club by the name of 'skulls and bones'?
In Iraq, a unstable country which ridden with terrorism by it's own citizens on a daily basis says torture is illegal. But the United States doesn't? What is wrong here.
I wished congress impeaches the president for war crimes and violation of the Geneva Convention.
what makes me mad isn't necessarily the torture(although yes i believe for 99 percent of the cases, it's immoral) but the fact that they do things like waterboard, or spy on citizens, before it's legal, and to prevent getting into trouble, they make it legal afterwards. What a circus! Also, we have, by waterboarding, completely violated agreed geneva conventions. We can't say one thing and do another, we are america, the rest of the world WILL hold us to our word
I am not a Bush fan by any means; however, if we can get critical information by torturing terrorist, who want to kill as many Americans as possible. This is a war. They are attacking our way of life. Therefore, to apply a very old saying: "There are no rules in love and war."
Torture is immoral. It has been immoral since George Washington declared a moratorium against British troops (this is the first administration to try to change that policy). Waterboarding is torture (it was used as evidence to convict Japanese war criminals). War does not allow you to batter American morals or the constitution anymore than a relationship allows you to hit a woman (after all 'there are no rules in love and war' right, jackass?)
Moreover, you're only counting the torture of foreign nationals. An "enemy combatant" is not defined as foreign, thus every american can be delared so by the Bush appointed CSRTribunal.
So, if you're called a member of some al-Qaida associated forces (who knows how associated), to hell with you.
The morality of the thing is for each one to judge. But the practical use of torture has been denied many times! A tortured suspect (and we're not talking about drowning for a minute, instead these people are maltreated for months) will say anything he thinks the "interrogator" wants to hear, no matter what the truth is. There is little information to be gotten from torture.
If someone tells you otherwise, ask them, which attack they really did stop with such information. Place and time.
Wallace was so over the top with his ridiculous questions, which sought to smear those concerned with American civil liberties, that even Bush wasn't comfortable agreeing with his point.
no, i think that the question was designed to make it look like bush was concerned about the situation of civil liberties. This was so scripted, listen to bush stumble over the script too. What scum.
@firegod001 we should probly hug them. then die from exposure to anthrax. Who cares if 3000 more americans die. at least we didnt dunk 1 TERRORIST in some water.
@tercelkisor Your problem, and the problem of many morons like you, is that you're automatically labeling the accused as guilty. That's not a very American attitude, if you ask me. What it means is that we can point our finger at anyone we want, label them as a terrorist, and bam! We can do whatever the fuck we want to to them. That is totally unacceptable, whether the accused is an American citizen or not, and any rational, open-minded, fair-minded and liberty-minded individual would see that.
@firegod001 your right. maybe if we had more housewives we could make all the terrorists happy. is it not worth dunking a couple people that are "certainly" affiliated with a terrorist organization for the security of over 300 million people. the accused are not labeled guilty immediately but there should be some kind of thinking about hot to carry out the treatment accused terrorists. not just worry about the rights of ONE terrorist compared to hundreds of millions of american citizens,.

He is so smug and so false. He loves to protect our civil liberties? What a liar.

Wallace was so over the top with his ridiculous questions, which sought to smear those concerned with American civil liberties, that even Bush wasn't comfortable agreeing with his point.

Chris Wallace is a butt boy for the far-right.
"Are you ever puzzled by all the concern in this country about protecting the rights of people who want to kill us?"
Even Bush realized how closed-minded and stupid that sounded. Wallace is a rotting piece of dick cheese.

no, i think that the question was designed to make it look like bush was concerned about the situation of civil liberties.

That is totally unacceptable, whether the accused is an American citizen or not, and any rational, open-minded, fair-minded and liberty-minded individual would see that.
firegod001 1 year ago
@firegod001 your right. maybe if we had more housewives we could make all the terrorists happy. is it not worth dunking a couple people that are "certainly" affiliated with a terrorist organization for the security of over 300 million people. the accused are not labeled guilty immediately but there should be some kind of thinking about hot to carry out the treatment accused terrorists. not just worry about the rights of ONE terrorist compared to hundreds of millions of american citizens,.
