i got the entire formula now i just need to transpose my music. I seriously know what the formula is to win this thing... I got a long road ahead and it starts this autumn when i take some music lessons. The UK is missing a beat in recent years and isnt looking hard enough at what it is that wins... the element of surprise
Look at the dresses in the 1990, the gospel entry in 1992, the cheap entry in 1993 but you did amazing thing 1994 and 1995. You can feel the fashion trend each year like 1972, 1985, 1986 and so on.
dont get why people find these embarrassing - we actually won with these, and came 2nd a lot - look at the crap thats gotten through recently where we are placed in the bottom 10 most of the times
Cliff Richard's Congratulations came out a year after Sergeants Pepper. It's amazing how far behind we were in Eurovision when you compare it to our normal output in popular music back then.
love city groove - i loved that one lol, bought the cassette n'everything. - gosh, our entries really deteriorated after then.. suppose the US/UK hand-in-hand war didn't help, but still.. neither did our song entries when you look back over the recent years.
Every one hates us after we joined an illegal war sucking up to the americans. We are never going to win again so we should pull out if it. We pay for it in the BBC tv license so it affects us all
What i was trying to say is i dont like the same country winning it over and over again like ireland did in the 90s. And i do agree that the uk dont produce strong entries anymore.
I'm quite amused by which songs I remember and which ones I don't (from about the mid nineties I remember all of them, then only here and there after that). I'm 28 now and I used to watch Eurovision a lot...so I wonder why I don't remember more. Hrm.
Ya i'm sure Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr have nothing better to do than to make a mockery of themselves at eurovision. I mean, the greatest band of old time and them doing eurovision? i don't think so!!!
Thanks uploading all that. Very appropriate the 2000 British Euro song 'Dont Play that Song Again' because that song a lot of those others, wont ever be played again without a gun to your head.
England came second 14 times... so close!! But ireland won 7 times... still the most out of any country... but we're startin ta lose our irish charm in the past few year... its gettin way toooo hard to win now!!
You never see somebody welsh.. scotish.. or n.irish.. entering it.. its always english people.. so i don't see where the big problem is!.. Nobody calls it the united kingdom.. i even have relations there.. and they call it england aswell.. theres no need for a reply.. i know you disagree so its pointless!!
@dylandoran2006 No, thats not true, they are not all English people , Why in the 53 years we have entered , do you think there has never been a welsh ,or scottish person ,,,
@dylandoran2006 and the 1962 entery is from northeren ireland , so i would realy do my reaserch , before you make judgements about a country , you are not even from , and blatetly no nothing about
The 1971 entry was Northern Irish as well. Added to that the 1966, 69, 87, 88 entries were Scottish and the 1970, 90, 02,04 entries were Welsh. 1972 was English/Scottish/Australian/German, 1976 was part Welsh, 1996 was Australian and 1997 was mainly American!
Hi from Iceland I hope someone here can help me. I have been looking for a few years of Eurovision on cd the years i am serching for are 1956 untill 1985. If someone wants to help me please feel free to contact me. Thank you
I won't comment much on the first twenty years. That music is so much before my time, that I can't appreciate it properly, I'm afraid. But I like 1959, 1961, 1967, 1970, 1972 and 1973. The music starts sounding more modern in the late 70s. I like 1976, 1977 and 1979.
In the 80s, UK pretty much deserved their placings, except that I don't think, that they should have been 2nd in 1988. There were several entries, especially "Croire" by Lara Fabian, the Luxembourg entry, which were better.
let me be the one was pretty cool..sounded reggae lol all the other old ones sucked we should get bad manners on or the wurzels..just take the piss out of it basicly but put on a good show cos it's not about the music lol lordi won it cos of the performance not the song..it was kickass though and the best one out of this pile of trash has to be love city groove..omg that was epic
The late 90's onwards it really goes down hill, but it was interesting to see that we haven't always done so badly...2nd place so many times. Great to see Jade get us back on track (hopefully we can keep it up in the following years)
I used 2 love "Say it again" by Precious when I was little (1999); I thought that "Love shine a light" (1997) was the best! Jade Ewen did so well for us to come back in2 the top 5 this yr! I cant believe how many times we came second in all of the eurovision contests.
England could win, if the competition was actually about singing, if they didnt tell the veiwers which country was singing it would be alot more fair.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow

yeh, i kept thinking we were spain and felt sorry but then they finally started to get points, a very good song! thought it would be around 10th but oh well
got the same query. I remember one year TATU represented russia. Isnt eurovision suppose to represent the music in your country? Then why cant UK just let Leona Lewis / coldplay / take that etc etc etc do it
there's nothing stopping Leona Lewis / coldplay / take that but they prob think it wouldn't be good for their careers plus of those 3 only Coldplay is the only one who write their songs, for the others you'd still have to find a song writer. It's not contest between countries but between national broadcasters in the country so it's up the BBC who they send each year.
Man! Must say it was a bit weird to see all thoose songs. All quality from 57-94, and then this rubbish that killed it all in 95. "Love shine a light" in 97 was really good tough.
When will Great Britain bring a CD on the market with all the Songs from the Eurovision Songcontest show in this clip?????

The reason why the UK have done badly in recent years (2003 onwards) in Eurovision isn't because of the Eastern block in my honest opinion.
It has been because the UK's entries in recent years have honestly stunk.
Good singing, a good voice with plenty of talent is what the UK needs to do well.

the uk doesnt need to show it has good music especially to a joke political voting contest like eurovision lol

there's nothing stopping Leona Lewis / coldplay / take that but they prob think it wouldn't be good for their careers plus of those 3 only Coldplay is the only one who write their songs, for the others you'd still have to find a song writer. It's not contest between countries but between national broadcasters in the country so it's up the BBC who they send each year.

leona lewis just doesnt want to aswell because if they come last then thats their career ruined

Watching this, I'm hardly surprised we haven't won recently. Looks like this year won't be any different either. Go forth and bore, Jade!

Man! Must say it was a bit weird to see all thoose songs. All quality from 57-94, and then this rubbish that killed it all in 95. "Love shine a light" in 97 was really good tough.
