First off.... "their", it has an "I" that is how you know you are typing third person plural possessive, not trying to talk about a place; and, if you are using the word "their", you should follow it with "lives" to make your sentence cohesive. Second, using a pick is for pulling different tones out of the bass, some times you just want the twang that can only be delivered with a pick. I personally think this song should not be played with a pick. Fingers give a great meaty tone that is perfect!

The reason he has strong bass lines is because he plays with a pick! All great bassists have played with picks in there life, even Victor Wooten. Flea from the Chili Peppers has used a pick, The bassists out of AC/DC and Foo Fighters use picks. And there only a few.
