  • At least the could have used a mare, lol!

  • At 3:03 Newt loses his hat while riding in the distant.

  • GREAT AS THIS MOVIE IS THE PART THAT CHOKED ME UP THE MOST IS WHEN HE TELLS LORI THAT GUS LEFT HER HIS HALF OF THE HERD.....IT MEANS SHE SUDDENLY HAS A LIVING AND LIFE.

  • i have very little 2 moan about l/dove which is y ive watched it 4 times except 4 woodroe not tellin newt

  • @jarvkserd i know, and the sad thing about that scene is that newt already knows. he just wants to see if call will own up to his past. it was sad how that ended.

  • @markmeetsworld Ya know, Gus already said he would never admit it, even to himself. Think about what happened here, though. He gave him his horse, called him out as range boss, and of course, gave him his father's watch. If he couldn't say it, I think he did everything else he could to show it.

  • @literaltrance Yes that's true.

  • @literaltrance Yes, that's true.

  • It's late at night, and I might have to get new glasses, but I wanna watch this all again! IT's like 1:58 am on my computer, and 3:03 on my clock!!!

  • and now hollywood thinks that they need ailiens in a western i think they have lost their minds

  • @crazyirishdad that's b/c hollywood is only out to make a quick buck, not do a quality movie.

  • Does 'The Hell Bitch' have a penis?

  • @CobbleStoneist yes, he's a gelding. you would think the film wrangler would've been more careful about that detail.

  • noticed that afew episodes back when he calls it a filly then in the same episode you can see its a gelding

  • Interesting that in the books, Newt was killed by that horse Call gave him because he just wasn't experienced enough of a rider. Plus later on they lost the ranch because as Gus said, Call wasn't a rancher.

  • @JacobMcandles You're right. Call returned from burying Gus and found that Newt was killed by the horse......and Lorena became a teacher after she married Pea Eye. And she took in Call, when he was old and damaged - by his own silence and inability to relate to people and his sadness. God, what characters...

p.s. Diane Lane took my heart when she was 13 years old in A Little Romance, and then she broke it when Lorrie stood vigil all night at Gus's coffin....Larry McMurtry is AWESOME

  • @iamintheburg the sad thing is that when i have seen diane lane's biography on tv--they never mention the LONESOME DOVE. her best piece of work ever--to you diane--you need to claim this movie because we all love it. maybe it was just a miniseries and not a hollywood blockbuster-- i am not sure but does anyone out there know if she won some kind of award for this movie?

  • @1pupblacky I'm not sure about awards, except that the Emmys that year ignored L.D. Duvall's award went to, I think, James Woods......Injustice ! Maybe some of the Western - oriented organizations recognized these people and this effort; again, I'm not sure. Still........it's maybe the best piece of film, characters and actors and music and story and direction that ever I will live through. Feels like it.

  • Hell Eunuch, to be precise.

  • The Hell Bitch ain't a mare.

  • @marysueeasteregg I know. Someone else pointed out the same thing. I don't think the crew expected people to look that close.

  • @markmeetsworld also, you must remember that this movie came out before the internet and before movie nerds who like to find and point out mistakes like this (such as myself) could talk about it on a global forum. hahaha

  • Its a Hell Bastard
