I learned to drive in a '74 Fleetwood (472). It was silver with a blue roof and blue leather. 8 city/11 hwy. Not too fast. My friend had a '75 Sedan DeVille. Off the line it was MUCH faster.
i have the same color fleetwood brougham with added grey delegance seats very nice car you have, i had a new one like your exactly in 77 but it got totalled in 78 , car saved my life, idiot sister was driving it age 16 what a shame...
i would love so much just to be able to drive one of these cars i live in Rock Hill SC you got one that you wouldn't mind letting me drive for about an hour look me up yeah i know wishful thinking.
Thats back when Cadillacs were beautiful. The only cadillacs that interest me nowadays is the Escalades. Any of the cars after 1990 are blah to me but thats just my opinion. I own a 76 Convertible, a 1990 Fleetwood and 2 Escalades. but as for the new caddy cars? Gm can stick em up their ass, they are overpiced and not worth it.
One does not buy a 19-foot, 5,200-lb Cadillac for fuel mileage!
But, for the record, it averages 12 mpg. Bought off ebay with only 1,200 miles; now it has about 3,500. As can be seen, it is not driven much, so fuel mileage is not a factor.
@Fleet472 12 miles per a gallon is good for a caddy, my dads 59 will do about the same miles to the gallon but with the taps open it will soon fall to about 8MPG ok back then when petrol was only like 30p per a gallon now it £1.21 per a litre. the car isn't on the road now it had a seized engine since 1992 and sits in the garage waiting
@Fleet472 Interesting to know what the fuel mileage is. My first car was a 1975 Fleetwood Brougham. You are right about the weight. Many people get confused about that. Curb weight and gross weight etc. I bought mine in 1988. Gas happened to be cheap that year. Around 80 cents a gallon. Best way to enjoy these cars is to ease around or take them on the interstate. Drive them hard through the corners and things get ugly. Unbelievably smooth ride though.
I've got the same exact car! I love mine, a 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham! Check this out: 19 feet long, 6.5 feet wide, 5,213 pounds (2.6 TONS!), 500 cubic inches of Cadillac Luxery under the hood, and for those who were curious, 0-60 in.................................13 seconds. LOL It is the LONGEST post war vehicle ever made, excluding commercial vehicles, limos, fire trucks, etc. CADILLAC FOR LIFE!! I love my boat!
cadillacs for the most part are actually really powerful but the engine is carrying 6000 lbs so only a few of them are actually fast....like a 1970 deville
The Cadillacs from 74 to 76 were burdened by smog devices. The 71 and 72s were MUCH faster and more powerful. The ride comfort of the 75 and 76 models were beyond compare though. ZERO vibration from the door arm rests. It was at home on the highway like no other car ever built.
@savagexhaley14 In 1974, Cadillac's were choked with emission's equipment. Anything before 1974 from Cadillac is FAST! Still, the 1974 has a tremendous amount of torque.

There are not quite that heavy! Well, the limos are about 5600-6000 lbs, but the '75-'76 de Villes are more like 5000-5200 lbs.
