  • mario kart love song

  • this is how the system works

  • Yeah ao show me the chords

  • God forbid that I ever write a I-IV-vi-V song. I've managed to avoid it all these years, as far as I know.

  • BIRDPLANE :))))))))

  • puta madre q mierda XDDD

  • you can add all of the bink 182 songs

  • Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner. Sometimes I feel like my only friend is the city I live in, the city of Angels...

  • "Sink to the Bottom" by Fountains of Wayne? Make it 40. Make it a nice round number.

  • Where's "Today" by the Smashing Pumpkins? "Bold as Love" by Hendrix?

  • cool song bro

  • You missed out all the rest of all the songs that have ever been written.

  • "Paparazzi" by Lady Gaga could also fit in on this

  • at lighthouse family - high its so wonderful your voice *___*

  • I thought for sure I would get sick of this... but couldn't stop watching and laughing.

  • hey hey hey and where is Bob Marleys No Woman No Cry?

  • right, so my theory is, that even bands who can wright original material and are genuinely good do a 4-chord-song just to get some money in ^^

  • Im a mother fuckin biiirrrdd plane, new favorite song

  • Thank goodness for rhythm or people would never create anything remotely new

  • LOL A MOTHA FUCKIN BIRDPLANE

  • no geetar version fo this

    ?

  • Well done, guys. Pure entertainment at it's best. Had me hooked til the end. Not many vids do that these days.

  • Eto pla ung hinahanap ko nice

  • Akon - nobody wants to see us together (also

  • @PlayboyBeats you do know that this is the axis of awesome, no the guy that uploaded the vid, right?

  • also, you sung this huge variety of songs very well, nice vid

  • @Heahmount E B C#m A

  • @TheBoredSupremacy I'm making my four chord song!!!

  • Thanks... Now I know how to play 36 songs.. :D

  • take on me *lmao*

  • They forgot Save Up All Your Tears by Cher.

  • THEY CHEATED!!! at 3:16 they change to a i-VI-III-VII progression instead of the I-V-vi-IV!!!! Nice try guys! but its true... way to many I-V-vi-IV songs

  • @djbummy16 umm, there still the same chords are they not?...

  • @djbummy16 Good catch

  • For example, Dragostea Din Tei (or "numa numa") also has this chord progression.

  • Really good! BUT!

You forgot: The Passenger - Iggy Pop and The Stooges!

  • AND IM BENNY~~~~!!

  • And that's why we need to revive progressive music, otherwise we'll end up listening to the same song over and over, and the lyrics aren't getting better too...

  • well done.LOL

  • i think most noobs find the C G Am F chord progression very early on in their life..

  • @meliux

    They actually use A, E, Bm, C#m

  • @meliux not sure if serious...

since the chords used in the video are E B c#m A...

  • @giebelinski its still a I-V-vi-IV chord progression

  • @halpinghand123 sure, but then just use the numerals; don't use the wrong key names.

  • @giebelinski not really a big deal, since we are just talking about the progression. The progression that he said is not wrong. plus I doubt all of those songs were originally played in E. Ihis song just transposed them all into E so the guy could play it on guitar easily.

  • Lol birdplane :)

  • @DJbobman i'm a supporter of underground music.. the reason they're able to do that is because unlike mainstream, they use different tempos. every song on this video goes at the exact same speed. whenever you hear that old guy complaining that music isn't as good as it used to be, this is why. every song sounded different back then, unlike now.

  • "It's inevitable that we're going to run out of original songs eventually" If you look at a lot of underground music... (IDM, death metal, Black metal) you'll see that artists are able to make something compeletely different than the mainsteam.

  • i like this, it sounds like a song on itself :D

  • E, B, C#m, A!

  • Do i hear Merton (improv chat) singin here too?

  • what are the chords then guys??

  • Great job! 36 songs and propably thousands more. Many popular songs are really simple when you break them down like that.

  • I - V - VIm - IV of doom

  • wow, just wow

  • my counselors performed this exact video at camp. so cool, nice job guys

  • The songs are all 1-4-6-5. But there is a slight difference. Most of them are in different keys, you did have to transpose them to the same key to make this. But yes, they are the same interval progression.

  • can someone help me :P what are the chords?

  • holy crap . thats cool

  • sooooooooo..... the chords arreeee....? o.o

  • @MsTiffanyLexus E, B, cis, A

  • @MsTiffanyLexus doenst matter what the chords are, its the progression thats always the same

  • Plenty of notes in 4 guitar chords + most of it is those guys singing, which is far more complex than 4 simple chords.

  • In fairness the black eyed peas don't know what a chord is anymore

  • @K3ogh1989 do you know where i can see the 4 chords?

  • @K3ogh1989 you say that like they ever did

  • a mother fuckin bird plaaane

  • That harmony at "With or Without You" always gives me chills! Great job guys!

  • i dont why but the song take on me has always scared the shit outta me........and it always will -.-........sigh.

  • I love the end!!!!!!

  • that's cool

  • Amazing!!! Play it for my friends all the time!! nice job

  • The Axis of Awesome is very good

  • This video is great.

  • Great music.

  • 2:50 "i come from a land down under" LOLL it killed me.

  • Thank you for sharing. unknownmurmel

  • The Axis of Awesome is good.

  • These songs are great.

  • this is amazing!!

  • Like "i'm yours" by jason mraz, "already gone" by kelly clarkson, "f***ing perfect" by p!nk, "better in time" by leona lewis, and many, many others...

  • A few more to add...

  • this very same chord progression was used by nickelback in 'far away' and by rebecca black in 'friday'.

    ...yes, friday!

  • The four chords here are I, V, vi, and IV.

These chords are used in a lot of songs.

  • I'm sure people have already posted this, but 3:01 is hilarious.

  • sick

  • That's kind of demotivating.

  • GODS, GUYS, they're not being arrogant about singing songs with the same four chords. i think that it's pretty neat they compiled these songs together, whether they were the first to come up with it or not.

  • Nice. My Music textbook for my college class suggested this video.

  • i dont know shit about music but if ur tlkin about guitar.... try these four G, D, Em, C :) u other musicians work out the pitch etc etc etc

  • what r the 4 chords?? :0)

  • What are those 4 chords?

  • they skipped kids by mgmt in this one :(

  • @ 2:27 lmfao. hmm try autotune.

  • 4:01

  • cool!

  • Four chords that made a million

  • 1:00 he looks a lot like enrique eglessias

  • Dear Axis of Awsome,

You guys have amazing voices, your extremely funny, and I love everything you guys do!

Totaly do a cover of one of these songs!

    Sencerly mmmmmeeeeee =D

  • 1st half of take me home, country roads chorus fits the 4 chords too

  • @thewhoishim also at 3:30

  • @theguywhoishim 2:08 Harmony..not auto tuned. 2:20, Harmony, not auto tuned.

  • @Brandonii54 No, unless I'm confused harmonies are when two voices sing over each other. This is one voice... that's autotuned

  • @badu1990

yeah, and what is more, cezik has imo much better voice.

    pozdrawiam

  • richard marx - right here waiting , Aha - take on me,Eagle eye Cherry - Save tonight , Natalie Imbruglia - torn, toto - africa - best matches..

  • Best five minutes of my day :)

  • 12 chromatic notes to keep it simple, we can hear 10 octaves, every instrument has a unique sound and say can be manipulated electronically to every note, add intervals in notes up to about 0.000001 to 30 seconds, tremolo, vibrato in varied amounts, every language and combination of language used in lyrics, longest pop song being 70 mins and symphony 13 hours, add in every conceivable sound by hitting things or animal noises, accents, singing styles etc... That is infinite by any human standard.

  • all songs suckss hagg, except the beatles!

  • this is one of the most popular harmony circle there are at least three times more song on these chords. it is not surpising at all...

  • So which 4 chords are these actually?

  • Comment removed

  • @dinche21294 doesn't matter. what matters is the interval

  • lol botched harmony at 2:20

  • HAHAH "birdplane~ I'm a motha ****ing birdplane" So dope lol

  • Very clever. Thanks!

  • @acemonster7 i'm from the west, and i'm surrounded by this kind of music. people don't even know that there's more to music than C C# D D# E F F# G G# A A# B C. you can understand why that's frustrating.

  • @seksigurl94

    what? why?

  • Very well done.

  • This video doesn't show that there are a limited combination of notes. It shows that there's a limited amount of creativity in mainstream music. (By limited amount, I mean lack)

  • @blackwidowcd1

    precisely!

  • VERY GOOD!!

  • I hate this chord progression, and I hate all the shitty songs that these lazy plagiarisers produced with it.

  • @packoftwenty In most cases, chord progressions are not protected under copyright laws. 95% of all popular music (rock, pop, reggae, rap, etc) is based on a few chord progressions. However, the melody is different for all these songs and that's the most important part of a song. What people sing!

  • amazing!

  • the best!!! bravo boys....great idea.......10+

  • great mix of songs but i have to say that you need to make exercises with your voices ...sometimes you are out of tune.. and in other parts, i can heard a lot of effort with their voices.. try to practice making exercises that will help you to dont damage your voice.

  • Yes... Cezik Was First, but Axis of Awesome made good work too ;)... i love this compilation of songs... (i jestem z Polski !) Great job.

  • Yay for ending with Missy Higgens!

  • And that's why I prefer the classical and jazz musicians (last less, but hey...). They just know how to compose with more than a tonic, dominant, subdominant and minor tonic chord.

You still think, that (this simple) pop-music doesn't dull anybody's mind?

  • Brilliant. Please add "So Lonely" to the list.

  • what are the notes?

  • @affleo7 Any combination of C-F-G-AM

  • Cezik był pierwszy i nie umielście mu doruwnać. POLSKA is the best

  • Joe Satriani's head is spinning right now.

  • Did anyone else start singing along at "I can't live with or without you"?

  • @XxSuperstitionsxX yes indeed! i love that song and i love u2 :)

  • MUSIC IS INFINATE....WHILE THERE IS CREATIVITY THERE WILL ALWAYS BE NEW SONGS WITH SAME CHORD PROGRESSIONS, SO WE WILL NEVER EVER RUN OUT OF ORIGINAL SONGS

  • shadow of the day

  • 3:14 Come one! you can do it!... YES! OK! not bad at all... it's like a dolphin orgas... jyst joking, i love it 10/5

  • E, B, C#m, A

  • dammit - blink 182 is C, G, A, F, dumbasses

  • @mrciaran96

It's the same progression but in a different key: I V vi IV.

  • @mrciaran96 ah fair does

  • try jazz see what is a chord use in a song

  • I would like to dedicate this one to my favorite forum-friend nika139.

  • It's such a pleasant sounding chord progression regardless haha

  • fair enough this harmony is used a lot, i've used it, but it's the melodies that make the songs.

  • Haha Dane Cook had a similar bit on his tour he just had

  • @dzstevens That's because Dane Cook hasn't had an original idea in his entire comedic career

  • Haha Dane Cook had a similar bit on his tour he just had

  • this can be any song as long as you change the key.

  • so much for originality

  • youtube com/watch?v=nfNpL2p0xm8

  • well he threw in One Repulic's Apologize.... I know 100% fact that song is in Cminor... so all of you saying E are wrong.... he is either playing in C minor or or E flat major

  • @ouzo2k5 You may not know this, but it's possible to change the key of the song. I SWEAR, they are playing this in E major.

  • yeah it's true the VI is minor so it's I, V, vi, IV

  • plz throw in a riff or a solo somewhere.! damn, thanks =)

  • @bloody1987PL youtube com/watch?v=JdxkVQy7QLM

this one is older, so... he was first :)

  • @bloody1987PL I watched this vid but its not four chords.. Its it E-B-C#m-A; then E-B-A... it is using four chords but the arrangement is not four chords... Compared to this video, it is only using E-B-C#m-A

  • youtube.com/watch?v=nfNpL2p0xm8 he was first! :/

  • lazy shit music.

  • oops sorry the best order is I, V, VI, IV =)

  • @BrianHWarner Should the VI be vi (lower case) to imply minor?

  • chords are E, B, C#m, A but you can do it with evry chord you just must use I, VI, IV, V but of every tonality ^^

  • Hahahahaha XD Awesome!

  • Yeah, this happens all the time. Started back with the old Blues men of the early 20th century.

  • the chords are E, B, C#m, A in that order

  • Comment removed
