It really irks me that some people are whining about this game not being set in Rapture. There's only so much you can do with the same enviroment. Bioshock is about more than just an underwater city. At least give it a chance, and if it sucks (which I highly doubt) then you can tell all the rest of us that we were wrong.

Dammit. This looks great and all, but the reason that Bioshock sold me was the creepy atmosphere. Rapture was dark, dank, a bit claustrophobic... Columbia looks bright and cheery. Hopefully the storyline will make up for it. I expect to have more ideas and philosophies thrown at me like the last two games.

The intense atmosphere and tension of the first game wasn't reliant on how moist the environment was, it was the sense of seclusion and claustrophobia and that can be achieved in any setting, being much more dependent on the writers' skill than any backdrop. That's why I believe this game will bring back the greatness of the original Bioshock that the sequel sorely missed out on.

The first Bioshock gave me that feel of seclusion from the rest of the world, like I was trapped in a fishbowl with a city of lunatics. Although I really liked the underwater theme of the first two and the kinda "dark" feeling I got from the environment. This one doesn't look as appealing. However, I still can't wait to see how this one will turn out!

That's what really makes the game pop though. Rapture was a story of sorrow, terror, and addiction and used shadows to maximize the feeling of the City's downfall and haunting atmosphere. The people were animalistic and delusional.

Columbia's theme seems to be this sorta of jubilant city. The place is all alive and things are constantly happening.  The upbeat decor and glowing scenery really make the hatred and madness of Columbia's people all the more unnerving.

But the original game is completely beyond the realm of belief...yet each year it creeps up higher to possibly bumping Half-Life out of my favorite FPS of all time. Bioshock Infinite only looks to continue that greatness, to bad they did not do the somewhat disappointing sequel.

@UBERGEEKZILLA you do know that Bioshock 2 was A)made by a different developer and b) has no relation to Bioshock or Bioshock infinite in terms of the irrational franchise in any way, and also c) the game doesn't have to look like Bioshock 1, because it takes place in a completely different universe. The Bioshock franchise isn't about rapture, its about being in an interesting atmospheric setting with a wide range of tools to perform tasks with.

The storyline and interesting gameplay is what made Bioshock. If you think it was all about Rapture and Big Daddies then it's your own fault for limiting a game series to repetitive sequels. How about Bioshock 3 in Rapure AGAIN? This time you play as a Big Sister, gee look at me being creative. I'll take the new city with the new characters, weapons, powers, etc. Rapture can stay at the bottom of the ocean, it ain't going anywhere.

The morality based gameplay/story with the atmosphere/characters and how they connected is what made me love it. Exploring "new areas in Rapture" doesn't mean shit if we've already learned so much about the city's purpose and it's history. Columbia let's us experience that feeling all over again, only with a new city/history to explore.

Ken Levine, the Creative Director for Irrational Games is a trendsetter not a follower. A good leader and director takes certain risks in order for the story and creative vision to reach it's desired intent and be successful. Also, Irrational games are not under that pressure to reach deadline unlike 95% of the mediocre game development that surrounds us. This level of care and commitment is rare and it's within this rarity that classics are born. This is reason enough to get excited for BI.
