The best song ever. I have listened to this song on my zune over, and over again from the live show in Portland Oregon. This version and the CD Universe version are the best. Ive listened to every single version there is out there and the live cd from DOUG FIR LOUNGE PORTLAND, OR 10/13/06 is the one you want to buy.
joseph arthur seems like the type of guy i could hang out with. he seems down to earth, and though he knows the suffering blues of the world (visiting uganda) he still emits some dreamy euphoria of higher things that are brighter and less heavy than things that keep us from sleep.
Love this ...this version of it especially ...love the slightly more muscular but still relaxed groove... compared to the studio version...love the end...the longing in the Slide Away/I want you section....yeah. I wish I could download the thing without becoming a computer scientist to do it...
I did monitors for these guys in Denver the night before this was filmed... Best show I have ever mixed. These guys are really amazing and really nice.
I would watch them just to see Jen. I love a guitar geek! She never seems to be seen with the same plank twice. This video was too much like the Wedding Singer. I think Joe even caterwals like a drunken stooge this performance much like the movie.
Born in Versailles, France, Buck started her modeling career in 1992 and has worked for Yves Saint-Laurent, Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Alexander McQueen
After quitting the modeling industry in 1998, Buck became a mother and began playing rock music in bands. She played bass and sang in Champions of Sound with Chris Traynor of Orange 9mm and Helmet, and with Sergio Vega of Quicksand. Buck currently plays bass guitar for Joseph Arthur's rock band, The Lonely Astronauts.
I loved this performance. Not only that, but it was the 1st time I'd ever laid eyes on Joseph Arthur 'live'. Wow, it reminded me of the 1st time I'd seen Prince, it was riveting, new & wonderful. Yeah, it was 'quirky' and I'm sure it seemed like an odd choice to some, to sing the song all the way through, in falsetto, but that's what made it so cool. Speaking of Prince, not too many singers can pull of the falsetto thing for an entire song like he can. But Joseph did it! & I dug it!
good points. But for anyone watching Letterman that night that never heard of him, it was terrible. Sad! I love the new album and Slide Away is great on there. When I saw them live it was much better than this Letterman mess. :)
I agree,it is a good song on the album but there are better tunes that they could have done to show just how good they are live. This performance is so clean and polished that they look like just any band when in fact they are really special. Arthur is an amazing writer, singer, performer. But again, on this national TV show he's all clean shaven and every hair is in place. It's a little comical after having seen them live recently...
A touch of Neil Young in this one, anyone agreeing??

This is a really good performance and a much better rendition than what is on the album. In my top 10 performances.

This is a great song, this is a tough song for Arthur to sing though. There are much better songs on Nuclear Daydream.

I'm sort of glad I didn't know there was a full band this time out. Also glad I didn't see this video in advance.
