What ever happened to just working at a place that has health coverage as a benefit? This generation is making up new entitlements as they go!! Next we'll be paying for their college tuition's and buying them cars! I've had so many jobs that didn't offer health care, because the owners were barely making it... Forcing companies to buy health care only puts more people out of work! These idiot's have been brought up by idiot's! Make it on your own!!!! Buy your own food, clothes, and housing!!!!
Oh for Christ's sake, these people are fucking retarded. I want to be around to see their pea-sized brains explode when Medicaid and Medicare and SS runs out of money and these politicians that "covered" them tell them, "Yeah, we kind of screwed the pooch on this one. You ain't gettin' nothin'".
Of all the things one learns at college, why do progressives never get around to teaching personal responsibility?
They teach this collective BS, without teaching individual links in the chain to be as strong as they possibly can be. Charity should be voluntary, not compulsory and used as a pretext to deprive individuals of prosperity and liberty. We are only as strong as our weakest links, our prosperity and liberty are directly related to the strength of our character. Handouts weaken us.
Figures that this is paid for by Center for American "Progress".
This "kids" are some of the least educated I have had the personal displeasure to witness. Such brainwashing belongs in a Soviet nation, not ours. It's sad to witness.
Parents, don't let your children grow up to be progressives.
i'm smart enough to know the bill can't be repealed idiot. obama has the veto pen. if you understand how legislation works in this country you'd know that. anyone who runs on a platform to repeal it is lying. the right can try to cut funding to parts of the bill, but that's they're only option. but hey, maybe you'll get your palin in 2012 and dreams will come true
Your argument seems to be changing - do you dispute the 3.4% profit margin in the health insurance industry? Where's the evil profit margin? By your own source, the industry profit margin ranks #28 on a list of 52 in which the last few are actually losing money. Not exactly damning evidence - certainly not strong support of your argument. Don't change the subject to pharmaceuticals - we're talking about somebody else paying for your health care and how you feel you're entitled.
@Ivorygate i don't feel entitled, i'll actually be providing your healthcare and i've studied public health so i know all about policy and healthcare.you know there's scientific evidence about this stuff. i was just letting you know that it's not just the insurance companies. why do they give money so much to politicians, you think there's nothing in it for them? your health care is being compromised because of it. of course, it doesn't matter because here we are entitled to pay more for less.
First off, let me say, UGH! Those are some nasty looking people. Second, I know lots of kids who just graduated and, guess what? They aren't covered because Obamacare doesn't require coverage until the next policy period begins. For many graduates, that won't be till next year. My son graduated in May. He can't get covered under my plan until January, but I know some who have to wait for July. Shouldn't these people get a job by then?
Now, Ivorygate, you know that raising the age limit for staying on a parent's plan from 24 to 26 was an expedient way to cover many young people with a simple legislative fix. We'd all prefer a more manly, less wimpy way to cover young adults and with a little less repug obstruction that might have been doable. In the meantime, we'll continue to fight so those 18-year olds you conveniently trot out to make your insipid point will have a livable life to come home to.
What a surprise, a liberal finds THE TRUTH to be "insipid". Don't flatter yourself in thinking you represent soldiers coming home, they don't need or want you or your village - ever check their voting patterns? It's laughable that you're arrogant enough not to see that they are the ones making your life livable, not the other way around. BTW, how's that liberal minimum wage increase working out for America's youth, eh? No wonder you need mommy and daddy's insurance at 26.
@Ivorygate - Sorry, uppercase letters don’t make things true. Voting patterns of enlisted men and women parallel those of their socioeconomic cohorts. Re the minimum wage: Great, and how does all that trickle down from a decade of billionaire tax cuts feel? Actually, what you're feeling is the Fox News Con jobbers peeing on your head. And their TRUTH made you think it was raining.
So you're saying it's not TRUE that 18 years olds dodge bullets for your rights? And sorry, but using expressions such as "socioeconomic cohorts" doesn't erase your "insipid" points blatantly hypocrisy - which one is it, republican voters are billionaire fat cats or lowbrow Nascar/Walmart fans? Make up your "mind". And sorry, but Fox News didn't raise the minimum wage, the people you voted for did. Hmm...highest youth unemployment since 1948 - keep up the good work!
@Ivorygate - It’s TRUE that you were not appointed cheerleader or spokesperson for some or any 18 year-olds. So using them in this manner both debases them AND makes your point insipid. If you truly wished to support them you would act to ensure they receive a fair deal upon their return home. I know things get all muddled and confused during de-programming. Another time I’ll connect the dots for you between repugs, billionaires, Con jobbers and their duped minions. Sorry for the big words.
The point has already been made - they represent themselves quite well with their voting patterns, whether pigeonholed by you based on their apparently universal socioeconomic status or not.
A fair deal for them would be not being forced to pay the way for 25 year old deadbeats like yourself when they get home - taking care of their own families is enough.
Howdy, discountninjuh. A few years back the U.S. had enough money in one year to wage two unfunded wars and build 26,000 private mansions each larger than the White House. But these young people have the gall to think that they are somehow "entitled" to life, liberty, the pursuit of hapiness and a few basic services - like health care, which is provided in Canada and 20 other industrialized countries at a lower cost and with better outcomes. It's not about money, but priorities.
26????? At what point should you be expected to start taking care of your damn selves? Are we supposed to feel sorry for you mooches? Maybe if you were 6 or even 16, but 26? Why not make it 36 or 46 while you're at it? There are 18 year olds out on the front lines dodging bullets so you wimps can sit at home and whine about how rough you've got it. Screw you!!!
You people are REMARKABLY ignorant. You aren't paying for our health care, OUR PARENTS ARE. This does not affect you. It is amazing to me how bigoted people can be...these are kids. Standing up for what they believe in. And all you'll do it shit on them. While, by the way, CITING AMAZINGLY UNTRUE "FACTS." You people are middle aged men and you have nothing better to do than insult 20 year old kids. You're some of the most cold hearted, misinformed, ignorant people I could've imaged. What a shame
Please put some clothes back on. Besides, it's not really about healthcare, it's about people wanting a free entitlement so that they don't have to get a job. If healthcare were so important to college students nobody in this video would have an iPhone, buy Lady Gaga tickets, or designer clothes. I'm a college student myself and if I'm on my parents health insurance until 26 then I'm doing something incredibly wrong with my life.
Way to go all you Glen Beck dittoheads! You wouldn't know common sense if it hit you in your beer-extended bellies. Thankfully, we have health care reform, we'll make it better and you knuckle-draggers conned by the likes of Sarah, Christine and Rush can't change that. Oh, and we already have better jobs than you, but thanks anyway for the career advice.
Undoing decades of Marxist brain-washing can only be done with powerful object lessons
ie: before tipping a server see if they believe in socialism, if they do then explain to them how you are raising money for a single parent that lost their job and the children are about to be homeless.
Without asking anything, thank them for the love they are sharing and that you will be donating the tip you were going to leave them to the less fortunate people.
@tralphaz1 -I'm sure you are happy to get your Medicare, Medicaid, and impending Social Secuity checks though (and maybe even a government or union pension) and the rest of us have to foot YOUR bill, oh self-righteous hypocritical one.But that's different because that's a handout YOU get.
Ah, Darwinism... Liberals love it. When they finally figure out they're NOT the fittest, it'll be too late. Unreal what Americans think they're entitled to these days. I'm 100% pro-life, but had a friend who said abortion should be legal until the age of 18. After watching this putrid video, I'd have to say "legal to 26". If my kids came home with that attitude, they'd no longer be on my policy OR in my home.
Young and healthy individuals, with their whole lives in front of them, and they demand that other people pay for their health insurance? That's very shameful. They should take responsibility for their own lives, and cover themelves. Nothing is more destructive to a country, in the long run, than creating a culture of dependency. Besides, they have no right to the life and labor of other individuals.
I would like to know how many of you losers have an ipod, ipad, iphone, cell phone, newest computer or any other thing that could have been sacrificed (you might want to look that word up in the dictionary since you don't know the meaning) to purchase health care.
There are young people in this country serving in Afghanistan and you all are complaining about losing your coverage after you graduate college and being dumped from your parents coverage.
Insanity is inherited, you get it from your children. I am sure mommy and daddy are so proud of their little numnuts after all the time and investment they have put into your education and you come out buck naked and brain dead. they have covered your sorry arse all the way through college now they get to cover you until you are 26. Wow! they must be so proud. Or they might tell you they are tired of wiping your ass. GROW UP GET A JOB COVER YOUR OWN ASS!
You're entitled to jack shit you lazy, worthless, liberal douchebags. Instead of sipping lattes and writing poetry on your mac's at starbucks, get a job, or better yet, get 2 jobs. I'm 26, have a full time career, and a part time job. I went to school for science, not liberal arts, poetry, or communication, I got a real degree. You pussy, weak, limp-wristed liberals who spend your life smoking pot in your parents basement, and complain cause your too lazy to earn the finer things in life.
PAY FOR IT YOURSELVES!! If it was that important to you you would give up some of the things you really don't need, like lets say internet access. You wouldn't do something that drastic to pay your own way because how else would you go visit your blogs and facebook each day to complain about conservatives. So instead you want the government to pay for it? Where does it get the money to do that?... from people like me!! I don't even have insurance but I should pay for yours??? GROW UP HIPPIES!
Gezuz, the stupidity of the youth makes me glad to be done with my college years. Can you feel the smug superior attitude oozing from their naked orifices? How many of these dopes do you think will get a job at a non-profit or other organization that gets its money from grants i.e. other people's earnings? My guess it'll be 3/4ths of them.
OMG, I am SO sorry that I am not giving you MORE of my money! It is terrible of me to want to keep what I worked so hard for. I am just so rotten to keep MY MONEY to provide for my own family and children when you don't want to work and pay for your OWN health care.
Wow, are these people proud of proclaiming their Greed and how they feel entitled to demand other people's time and money (which is what covering them requires if they aren't doing it themselves)?
How long are we going to allow people to be considered children in our society? 26? Really? I had regular health insurance all throughout my 20s; guess what. I paid for it myself. And for the vast majority of the time, it was a waste of money for me, because people are at their healthiest early on in life. Regardless, _I_ paid for it. What these kids are advocating is putting a barrel of a gun in your face and demanding that _you_ pay for their coverage.
If members of Campus Progress Action hadn't spent college majoring in Hispanic Studies and English , they would not have to worry about their health insurance. Bums.
I WANT YOUR MONEY TO PAY FOR MY HEALTHCARE! Please, the last thing on the mind of young people is health care for themselves. You spend your parents money on everything else and continue that by demanding that people like me pay for YOUR health care. Tell you what, I think I'll demand that YOU pay for MY health care! And since I'm older, it'll cost you a lot more of your tax dollars to take care of me. If you ever get a job, that is.
Let me explain how you get adults with this mentality. Let's take that fat hairy guy with the beard who doesn't have his AARP card on him because he's busy being a giant douche and has no pockets for his wallet at the moment.
Get in the way-back machine and at one point in his childhood he saw a kid playing with a toy that he wanted to play with. So he whined and screamed and when mommy showed up she told the other to share. Suddenly he knew that what is yours is his if he cried loud enough.
@Rookie972 Having people who are 26 on their parent's policy is good for insurance companies. They don't get sick as frequently, but their premiums still get paid. Not by you, either! By their folks and their folks' employers. Putting healthy people into the pool is something that has to happen if we want to cover EVERYONE who gets sick. This mandate forces people like ME to buy insurance so that people like my sister don't get discriminated against.
Awesome, you can work at McDonalds until you're 26. Maybe they can reform the law so you can have mommy pay for your healthcare for the rest of your life, so you never have to get a real job. With Obamacare, and welfare, and food stamps we won't even need jobs. Yeeeeeaaaaaaaaaa!!!!
I am amazed that grown folks think mooching off their parents through age 26 is "reform." Even if you feel it is compassionate or just a good safety net, to actually take pride in living off others through the latter part of your 20s is mind-boggling. I left home at age 18 in the late '80s with $62 in my pocket, excited as all get-out, singing to the radio and looking to make my place in the world. Look what has happened to us in just a few decades.
Wow, look at the losers, so proud mommy and daddy are paying them not only for their useless liberal arts degree but also their health insurance. Get a fucking life!
hmmm, its funny i dont see universal health care in the constitution i wonder why that is....what makes your health care a God given right? And why do the rest of the Americans have to pay to cover you? I dont know you, your health is not my responsibility... IT IS YOURS!! Stop trying to take my hard earn money to support your lifestyle! I have a right to say no to scrubs like you!
This seriously makes me sick to my stomach. I swear I will NEVER let my kids grow up with this entitlement, everyone owes me a living, narcissistic attitude. For educated kids, you sure have a whole lot to learn still.
@skowronek - Cheers mate. My dad told me when I was 15 that he will not pay a single cent for my college education. I am now 23 and working on my PhD in civil engineering. I worked with a construction company.throughout my undergrad and now work as a student instructor and a research assistant to pay my tuition and my bills. Pisses me off to no end when I see so many entitled little pricks like the ones in this advert.
@skowronek well, they should feel entitled to their healthcare, because we're the only developed nation that doesn't give everyone the care they need. what kind of place is this? single-payer is the fiscally and socially way to go. these kids are expressing themselves and standing up for what they believe, i see nothing wrong with that. at least they're creating something besides commenting on the videos of others, speaking of which...
Standing up for what they believe: "gimme gimme gimme!"
So when is someone NOT considered "a kid" in your book - 30?
If they are "entitled" to healthcare, why not other more vital needs like food and shelter as well? Where does it end? Other than the fact that the Jones are doing it, what specifically "entitles" them to services provided by the work of others? It's not "free" health care - it's just someone else paying for it other than yourself - you DO realize that don't you?
@Ivorygate you're already paying for it, it's going to insurance companies for profit. you'd be paying less if our country was on a single-payer system.you'd be doing yourself the favor and have a healthier more productive nation for it. learning that facts as to what this healthcare system has become would make you sick. do you actually know why healthcare is so expensive and how other countries are much better at it than us. but your right, police, education; let's just privatize all of it.
A dependent society is not a healthy one. How exactly are people more productive if they aren't even expected to take care of their own basic needs? And sorry, but I don't demonize insurance companies for making a profit - would you rather they didn't? What do you think happens when a disaster occurs - do you want an insurance company that made no profit there to handle the costs? And based on what do you suppose that the government can manage money better than the public?
@Ivorygate you think insurance companies are saving away money for a rainy day? profit is profit and they are making too much and giving too little to customers. and yes i know government can. look up information about single-payer. it works great in other countries, ours isn't incompetent, just divided. the government takes the sickest people, the old and poor (lower ses correlates with more disease and illness), no wonder its so hard. insurance companies really have it too easy.
You can't be serious. If insurance companies aren't saving for a "rainy day" - what is the purpose of insurance? Sorry, but every business on the planet works for a profit - and health insurance companies rank at around #90 by industry profit margin at 3.4%. Who are you to say that that is "too much"? I'd much rather pay them a profit so they can cover actual needs should they arise, then pay for your health care because you'd rather pay for internet and cell phone service.
@Ivorygate while pharmaceuticals is 3rd in ranking in profit. THIRD! right behind crude oil. while health insurance is actually around 28th. so if you still think that no one is profiting IMMENSELY you should think again. looking at fortune 500 website. what i'm trying to say is that insurance charges too much for what they provide and it affects who can and can't get healthcare. that should not be the case.
I guess by your logic, insurance companies should not make a profit. They should pay out exactly what they take in, making it impossible to cover the cost of any catastrophic emergencies should a crisis arise that is out of the ordinary. The youth of America shouldn't be expected to give up their iPhones and internet service just so that the evil insurance companies can offer stability and relief in a time of crisis. After all, the government will take care of everything, eh?
@Ivorygate people dying from preventable causes is a catastrophic emergency no one seems to notice. of course no matter what i do in healthcare there's a negative response. wait maybe that's because anyone in healthcare would know more than you as to how, wait for it, as to how healthcare works. but hey, forget people who know things and let's just get people in here who want to make money. soon enough it'll affect the productivity of our country. you need healthy people to work and contribute
Oops, that info (from your source) was from 2007. If you switch to 2009 data, the health insurance industry clocks in at a profit margin of a whopping 2.4%. That made it #35 on a list of 52 in which #44-52 are losing money. If you switch the data to "fastest growth in 1 year profits", the health insurance industry clocks in at -36%.
If you liberals get your "fundamental transformation", pretty soon no American industries will be making a profit. Nice job, comrade.
@Ivorygate irrational fear mongering. ah if we have an effective healthcare system we will no longer be profitable! where do you get these ideas from?
industries will be making more money because they can focus on their business and not health insurance plans. and those who provide care can focus on their care rather than navigating the maze of health insurance companies. 40 cents to every dollar paid to them is spent NOT on healthcare but on administrative costs (marketing, profit etc).
Where do you think this magic money comes from to pay for this "free" health care? Please explain how it will cost less to cover more people with better care. You're going to have to conjure up a few witch doctors to make that equation work, Einstein. It seems you have abandoned your original argument that about the health insurance industry making IMMENSE profit - did your own source of data betray you? And please cite a reference for that last bit of "data" you provided.
@Ivorygate@Ivorygate my original argument is that single-payer is the way to go. the rest is evidence. things are complicated and it's not the fault of any one entity. insurance companies don't have your best interest in mind and neither does pharma. that is all.
@Ivorygate did you look at the comparison of developed countries who have a single-payer system vs US like i mentioned in one of my first comment? probably not. you didn't provide any good reason why single payer is a bad idea.
my question is why do so many people go bankrupt even if they have health insurance? there's something a little crazy about that. you can surely find plenty of research on that. you need the luck my friend, cause you'll need the care.
@Ivorygate dude we pay MORE for healthcare per person than any developed nation and we DON'T have better healthcare to show for it...you tell me what's smarter. you already pay for these people anyways but instead in emergency rooms when they haven't received the right care they need to prevent the expensive emergency care. i work in healthcare and i'm just telling you the facts. if you think someone should profit for selling you your "health insurance" then that's a different story
Let me guess - Cuba has better health care than the US, right? Not a lot of boat people setting sail from Florida to Havana last time I checked.
I wonder why Canadian premier Danny Williams came to the USA for medical care when "they are much better at it than us"? They are better at taxing their citizens than we are, for now. Face it - that is what you're advocating - simply forcing others to pay for your care via taxes. It has nothing to do with fairness - quite the contrary.
I'm sure these very impressionable child like students are likely being influenced by some professors. I made a complaint about an English teacher who wasted much of my time because he taught very little of the subject matter I was paying for to discuss leftist politics, propagandizing the class. The complaint went nowhere. Merely disagreeing may get you a low grade. It is amazing how simple-minded these students are allowing themselves to be talked into something so ridiculous.
what's going to happen when their parents policy disappears because there are no more companies offering policies because they shut down? After 2014 companies by law cannot even add new policies. You in college? Good luck getting a job and when you do wait 'till you are working as a slave to pay for all these programs. And there will be no choice you will work. The sheep will go to the slaughter willingly:)
Do you kids know that you CAN stay on your parents policy but it costs around $430. per month! Now did Obama tell you that? NO! He said you can stay on but what he didn't say is you are not staying on it for FREE it will cost over $400. per month. Now you tell me if you want to HAVE to pay $400. per month for health insurance because you WILL have to be covered under Obamas plan or you WILL pay a penalty You have NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER -Big Brother has spoke.
This video is an excellent example of true greed - the belief that it is up to someone else to take care of your needs (and desires).
Face it greedy losers, nobody owes you anything just because you exist - not health care, not food, not a place to live, nor any of the other good things in life.
@drollord I agree 200%!!! What ever happened to earning things in life? All the lazy asses feel they are owed something so they prosper at our cost. Meanwhile we do not get to enjoy what we have worked for in life because the govt has decided someone else needs it more than us!!!!
@cnrails Medical care shouldn't have to be earned. It has nothing to do with "merit", assuming merit actually exists. Medical care is just simply something a civilized society makes sure everyone has, simply because its the right thing to do.
And I really doubt you work any harder than anybody else. If you did you wouldn't have time to post here.
What makes it "the right thing to do"? Having experienced the iniquity of socialist medicine, whereby I pay twice despite being on significantly less than average pay (I pay taxes for healthcare I cannot access, either because it is simply insufficient or because I cannot afford to wait and take 9 weeks off work, so I pay for private care) I would say that it is the wrong thing to do.
Of course it's earned, someone has to earn it, otherwise it would not happen.
"When you are unemployed, chances are you don't have health insurance"
Right, chances are you don't have health insurance because you would rather spend your money on a new XBOX game or a new IPOD rather than get coverage on your own. You do not need a job to get coverage. Get off of your sorry fucking asses a take care of your needs rather than your wants you sissy's.
Congress isn't covering you, you ignorant fucks! YOUR NEIGHBORS ARE! You know the people next door dealing with their own problems!? Grow a fucking spine and learn to live life independent of other people's FORCED charity - you weak, pathetic, CUNTS! fucking useless leaches.
@hairymulletjr Your talk about "living life independently" would be a little more impressive if you were against all the massive bonuses CEO's get just for ordering mass layoffs and skeletonizing their companies for the short-term rate of return for a few rich, fat investors.
And we can assume YOU won't accept Medicare or Social Security when you're eligible for them?
If one is eligible for social security or medicare then one has been made, by threat of violence or imprisonment, to pay already for the benefit. Accepting that benefit does not make one dependent, just sensible. If one could opt out of paying, and chose to pay and receive, then one is choosing dependence.
@KennBurch You seem to have considerable difficulty witht he idea of independence. Do you on the other hand know what a non sequitur is? I suggest you look it up. The definition might include your first paragraph.
Did you really mean to suggest that hairymulletir should not discuss independence without criticising independent people for acting as they see fit, independently, and running their companies well?
@KennBurch Where'd CEO argument come from? Secondly, by the time I reach a qualifying age for SS and Medicare I highly doubt that they will even be in existence any more (usdebtclock . org) it's a matter of reality that the promises made cannot be paid for. even if you tax all the CEO's at 100%. Lastly I believe anyone who is depending on those programs still being there are setting themselves up for a tragic disappointment in life. Live and save as if they won't be - and you won't need them
The creators and participants in this s#!t video are the biggest tools I've ever seen. I can't believe that with a straight face they praised the idea that they could continue to mooch off of their parents until they're 26. That's EIGHT WHOLE YEARS after becoming an adult. If anyone can break contact with mommy and daddy it should be a college student... even a raging left wing liberal college student with inclinations toward mental retardation like these people. LOSERS!
Wow 18 percent unemployment, I wonder who made that possible, that's change I can believe in. So I guess we ought to re-elect the people who brought use 10.1 unemployment (and my generation 18 percent!!) percent unemployment because now they're promising to take care of us. Didn't they also promise to keep unemployment under 8 percent? How stupid do they think we are?
If I was a dictator of a country I would want the whole population to be just like the silly people in this video; naive, easy to influence, and with no critical thinking skills. Just intelligent enough to do my bidding while believing they are actually doing something good. In fascist or communist regimes the phrase used by the leaders for these type of people was "useful idiots". It just so happens that in a truly functioning and productive society they would be the least necessary.
Why do they believe that I or anyone else have to pay for their healthcare-because they have a mentality of entitlement. No one has ever paid anything for me nor did I expect them to do so. This type of mentality causes people to see things in a skewed, unrealistic manner. I'm not worried about it because it will eventually be repealed , or collapse due to very nature and details of this plan. It violates the Laws of Economics (which are more powerful than any government that has ever existed).
Don't worry about health care coverage. Here's a trick; if you get sick, just show up to a local ER, and say your name is Juan McJuan, and you don't speaka any englisha. Provide no ID of any kind, and they are required by a supreme court ruling to give you service, and send the bill to Juan McJuan 123 Fake Street Citytown, California 12345
@TresJolie7 Hey, you can be mexican, black, or jewish, and do the same thing. Hell, you can say you're from timbuktu if you want. Any publicly funded ER is REQUIRED to provide service to you, regardless of your ability to pay, citizenship, or country of origin. If you give your real information, you get a bill. If you lie, you get off scott free. We already have government health care. That's why ERs all over keep closing.
*giggling* Gee kiddies, you're gettin' a lot of views, but I don't think you're getting the responses you wanted. Looks like the American taxpayers are just a little indignant about your socialist whining *more giggling*
You SHOULD be kicked off of your parents health care plans, you are ADULTS!!! Take care of yourself, get a damn job, pay for your own health insurance and stop leeching off of your parents and the rest of society. Enjoy it while it lasts, but reality is on its way.
If your parents don't have you on their health insurance than you will be REQUIRED to have insurance. This means you are REQUIRED to pay for the insurance! So, when you get the $500 or more bill per month to pay for your own health insurance from the US government, with deductibles and copays are you then going to whine because you can't afford to pay for your mandatory US government insurance or are you going to insist that I, a taxpayer, pay for it?
So in a nut shell they are saying "I want to be an adult, I want to make money like an adult, I want to be recognized as an adult, I vote like an adult BUT I don't want ADULT RESPONSIBILITIES because I'd rather be a lazy dumb fucking bitch!" ...I have paid for my own health insurance for 10 years as of this year I no longer have an "income"..... How's that?
Your parents (if you have one) must elect to have you on their insurance. If they don't you are required by law to have insurance. It will be fully enforced by the US government that you do.
Under this change premiums are still paid out to the PIG Insurance companies (or rather Mafias). They don't lose on anything becuz they collect those premiums from healthy young folks & usually never have to pay a cent for any expensive health care. The Insurance Mafias do raise the premiums to hellishly high levels. NO ONE is being GIVEN anything for nothing. The pharmaceutical industry makes huge profits & the HMOs get to profit when they deny health care (talk about death panels). Wake up!!!
So they have enough money for cars, Ipads, Ipods, laptops, cable, high speed internet and cell phones but not enough to buy their own health care without taking our money. Got it?
@seanarther Both the preexisting condition and dependent coverage provisions drew support from the GOP. The House Republicans included both in their alternative health care reform proposal - H.R. 5424. See the House Republican's own summary proposal here: republicans.waysandmeans.house.gov/UploadedFiles/HR_5424_short_summary.pdf
These people want somebody else to buy them clothing. They want all their clothing when they demand it, but they want to keep their clothing different from other's clothing. But when somebody else buys your clothing, you end up with uniforms, one-size-fits-all, itchy polyester in colors like "Mao gray" or Lenin black".
But if you got to buy your own cloths, you can be as stylish as you want, and you pick the cost of a pair of pants, not somebody else.
I go to school with people like this. They get brain washed by their professors because they are too lazy to look up all the facts themselves. Not all college kids are like this, just the sheep and useful tools trying to boost their resumes for when they graduate.
As for me, I served my country (USAF Iraq), I use my MGI bill for school, but beyond that, I'd rather be left alone. If I get sick, I'd rather die free than be sustained by this slave of a system called Obama Care.
This video is BS. I just turned 25 and Blue Cross Blue Shield, under the plan covering dependents of Univ. of TX employees, kicked me off and said they didn't have to keep anyone over 25 covered despite the new law. They emailed me an entire memo citing the loopholes that allowed them to give me the boot. This campaign is just hot air.
Congress didn't "cover us"... The American taxpayer did...or at least will have his/her income confiscated to try. What really is astonishing is that each and every one of these “twenty-something” kids in this ad will have to pay some $150,000 in interest over their working lifetimes just to pay for the interest of all the spending that has already occurred – NOT including healthcare. In essence, they are supporting the very person who is destroying their chance at the American experience…

Ivorygate 1 year ago

Shouldn't these people get a job by then?
fromthinair 1 year ago 2
Now, Ivorygate, you know that raising the age limit for staying on a parent's plan from 24 to 26 was an expedient way to cover many young people with a simple legislative fix. We'd all prefer a more manly, less wimpy way to cover young adults and with a little less repug obstruction that might have been doable. In the meantime, we'll continue to fight so those 18-year olds you conveniently trot out to make your insipid point will have a livable life to come home to.
TeaBagKiller1 1 year ago
@TeaBagKiller1
Ivorygate 1 year ago 2
@Ivorygate - Sorry, uppercase letters don’t make things true. Voting patterns of enlisted men and women parallel those of their socioeconomic cohorts. Re the minimum wage: Great, and how does all that trickle down from a decade of billionaire tax cuts feel? Actually, what you're feeling is the Fox News Con jobbers peeing on your head. And their TRUTH made you think it was raining.
TeaBagKiller1 1 year ago
@TeaBagKiller1
Ivorygate 1 year ago
@Ivorygate - It’s TRUE that you were not appointed cheerleader or spokesperson for some or any 18 year-olds. So using them in this manner both debases them AND makes your point insipid. If you truly wished to support them you would act to ensure they receive a fair deal upon their return home. I know things get all muddled and confused during de-programming. Another time I’ll connect the dots for you between repugs, billionaires, Con jobbers and their duped minions. Sorry for the big words.
TeaBagKiller1 1 year ago
@TeaBagKiller1
LOL, and yet you WERE appointed, eh?
How much more or a narcissist can you be?
The point has already been made - they represent themselves quite well with their voting patterns, whether pigeonholed by you based on their apparently universal socioeconomic status or not.
A fair deal for them would be not being forced to pay the way for 25 year old deadbeats like yourself when they get home - taking care of their own families is enough.
Not that you would know anything about that.
Ivorygate 1 year ago 2
Howdy, discountninjuh. A few years back the U.S. had enough money in one year to wage two unfunded wars and build 26,000 private mansions each larger than the White House. But these young people have the gall to think that they are somehow "entitled" to life, liberty, the pursuit of hapiness and a few basic services - like health care, which is provided in Canada and 20 other industrialized countries at a lower cost and with better outcomes. It's not about money, but priorities.
TeaBagKiller1 1 year ago
Screw you!!!

ie: before tipping a server see if they believe in socialism, if they do then explain to them how you are raising money for a single parent that lost their job and the children are about to be homeless.
Without asking anything, thank them for the love they are sharing and that you will be donating the tip you were going to leave them to the less fortunate people.

Young and healthy individuals, with their whole lives in front of them, and they demand that other people pay for their health insurance? That's very shameful. Get in the way-back machine and at one point in his childhood he saw a kid playing with a toy that he wanted to play with. So he whined and screamed and when mommy showed up she told the other to share. Suddenly he knew that what is yours is his if he cried loud enough.

@skowronek well, they should feel entitled to their healthcare, because we're the only developed nation that doesn't give everyone the care they need. what kind of place is this? single-payer is the fiscally and socially way to go. these kids are expressing themselves and standing up for what they believe, i see nothing wrong with that. at least they're creating something besides commenting on the videos of others, speaking of which...
michiegrl24 1 year ago
@michiegrl24
Ivorygate 1 year ago
@Ivorygate you're already paying for it, it's going to insurance companies for profit. you'd be paying less if our country was on a single-payer system.you'd be doing yourself the favor and have a healthier more productive nation for it. learning that facts as to what this healthcare system has become would make you sick. do you actually know why healthcare is so expensive and how other countries are much better at it than us. but your right, police, education; let's just privatize all of it.
michiegrl24 1 year ago
@michiegrl24
Ivorygate 1 year ago
@Ivorygate you think insurance companies are saving away money for a rainy day? profit is profit and they are making too much and giving too little to customers. and yes i know government can. look up information about single-payer. it works great in other countries, ours isn't incompetent, just divided. the government takes the sickest people, the old and poor (lower ses correlates with more disease and illness), no wonder its so hard. insurance companies really have it too easy.
michiegrl24 1 year ago
@michiegrl24
Ivorygate 1 year ago
@Ivorygate while pharmaceuticals is 3rd in ranking in profit. THIRD! right behind crude oil. while health insurance is actually around 28th. so if you still think that no one is profiting IMMENSELY you should think again. looking at fortune 500 website. what i'm trying to say is that insurance charges too much for what they provide and it affects who can and can't get healthcare. that should not be the case.
michiegrl24 1 year ago
@michiegrl24
Please explain how 3.4% = IMMENSELY. Calculators don't exaggerate for effect.
Ivorygate 1 year ago
@michiegrl24
Ivorygate 1 year ago
@Ivorygate people dying from preventable causes is a catastrophic emergency no one seems to notice. of course no matter what i do in healthcare there's a negative response. wait maybe that's because anyone in healthcare would know more than you as to how, wait for it, as to how healthcare works. but hey, forget people who know things and let's just get people in here who want to make money. soon enough it'll affect the productivity of our country. you need healthy people to work and contribute
michiegrl24 1 year ago
@michiegrl24
Ivorygate 1 year ago 2
@Ivorygate irrational fear mongering. ah if we have an effective healthcare system we will no longer be profitable! where do you get these ideas from?
industries will be making more money because they can focus on their business and not health insurance plans. and those who provide care can focus on their care rather than navigating the maze of health insurance companies. 40 cents to every dollar paid to them is spent NOT on healthcare but on administrative costs (marketing, profit etc).
michiegrl24 1 year ago
@michiegrl24
Ivorygate 1 year ago 2
@Ivorygate @Ivorygate my original argument is that single-payer is the way to go. the rest is evidence. things are complicated and it's not the fault of any one entity. insurance companies don't have your best interest in mind and neither does pharma. that is all.

The sheep will go to the slaughter willingly:)
lihartke1 1 year ago 2
They can't stay on for free it costs over $400. per month. Obama doesn't tell them that.
lihartke1 1 year ago
Do you kids know that you CAN stay on your parents policy but it costs around $430. per month! Now did Obama tell you that? NO! He said you can stay on but what he didn't say is you are not staying on it for FREE it will cost over $400. per month. Now you tell me if you want to HAVE to pay $400. per month for health insurance because you WILL have to be covered under Obamas plan or you WILL pay a penalty You have NO CHOICE IN THE MATTER -Big Brother has spoke.
lihartke1 1 year ago
This video is an excellent example of true greed - the belief that it is up to someone else to take care of your needs (and desires).
Face it greedy losers, nobody owes you anything just because you exist - not health care, not food, not a place to live, nor any of the other good things in life.
drollord 1 year ago 5
@drollord they can't stay on for FREE it cost over $400. a month to stay on. The Dems don't tell you that.
lihartke1 1 year ago
@drollord I agree 200%!!! What ever happened to earning things in life? All the lazy asses feel they are owed something so they prosper at our cost. Meanwhile we do not get to enjoy what we have worked for in life because the govt has decided someone else needs it more than us!!!!
cnrails 1 year ago 5
@cnrails Medical care shouldn't have to be earned. It has nothing to do with "merit", assuming merit actually exists. Medical care is just simply something a civilized society makes sure everyone has, simply because its the right thing to do.
And I really doubt you work any harder than anybody else. If you did you wouldn't have time to post here.
KennBurch 1 year ago
@KennBurch

Right, chances are you don't have health insurance because you would rather spend your money on a new XBOX game or a new IPOD rather than get coverage on your own. You do not need a job to get coverage. Get off of your sorry fucking asses a take care of your needs rather than your wants you sissy's.

hairymulletjr 1 year ago
@hairymulletjr Your talk about "living life independently" would be a little more impressive if you were against all the massive bonuses CEO's get just for ordering mass layoffs and skeletonizing their companies for the short-term rate of return for a few rich, fat investors.
And we can assume YOU won't accept Medicare or Social Security when you're eligible for them?
Yeah. Right.

@KennBurch
If one is eligible for social security or medicare then one has been made, by threat of violence or imprisonment, to pay already for the benefit. Accepting that benefit does not make one dependent, just sensible. If one could opt out of paying, and chose to pay and receive, then one is choosing dependence.
randomxnp 1 year ago
@KennBurch You seem to have considerable difficulty witht he idea of independence. Do you on the other hand know what a non sequitur is? I suggest you look it up. The definition might include your first paragraph.
Did you really mean to suggest that hairymulletir should not discuss independence without criticising independent people for acting as they see fit, independently, and running their companies well?
randomxnp 1 year ago

LOSERS!
Portastern 1 year ago

It just so happens that in a truly functioning and productive society they would be the least necessary.
oyhacrnnR 1 year ago
Such a loser generation. We all made it past 26, with or without health insurance... BECAUSE WE WORKED HARD. What a bunch of babies...
wallstreetbuffoon 1 year ago 3

TresJolie7 1 year ago
@TresJolie7 Hey, you can be mexican, black, or jewish, and do the same thing. Hell, you can say you're from timbuktu if you want. Any publicly funded ER is REQUIRED to provide service to you, regardless of your ability to pay, citizenship, or country of origin. If you give your real information, you get a bill. If you lie, you get off scott free. We already have government health care. That's why ERs all over keep closing.

Under this change premiums are still paid out to the PIG Insurance companies (or rather Mafias). They don't lose on anything becuz they collect those premiums from healthy young folks & usually never have to pay a cent for any expensive health care. The Insurance Mafias do raise the premiums to hellishly high levels. NO ONE is being GIVEN anything for nothing. The pharmaceutical industry makes huge profits & the HMOs get to profit when they deny health care (talk about death panels). Wake up!!!

@seanarther Both the preexisting condition and dependent coverage provisions drew support from the GOP. The House Republicans included both in their alternative health care reform proposal - H.R. 5424. Let's take this metaphor seriously...
