Ah, I've solved it: it is because 'original piano pieces' all incorporate an unchanged bass-line in the left hand while the right plays any combination of notes in the same key, which, curiously, is most always the key of C Major.

this is a beautiful, reflective piece. it could easily be featured in a film... although you don't ask for it, i'm going to give my two cents on it (because i have an opinion on everything) - the beginning is beautiful, the ending could do with a bit more rubato rather than a sudden stop, but the middle is uncertain. i kind've lost interest, but that's just me. overall, great job. you've inspired me to play some more!!! :D

This is so beautiful, you could fall in love with someone to the sound of this melody, or break up with them... I can see this in about a million different movies. Guy walks down a dark, cold, rainy street with hands in his pockets, or the slow merry-go-round shot of two lovers spinning without a care in the world. excellent work. keep it up.
