  • "Hey! We're the ones casting Cure 4! Not the Ninjas!"

    Lol.

  • one thing i actually like about the DS remake is they rebalanced the classes so that you can pretty much use quite a few of them and do decent damage and complete the game instead of having to use two ninjas.

  • She's a METEOrologist >_>

  • so like stupid naruto could beat this cloud...

  • lol i went into the crystal tower in the ds version as a joke at lvl 47 to see how far i could get and ended up beatin the game at lvl 55! a black belt, sage, summoner, and dragoon is all u need and make sure to take out the lightning tentacle...feel like such a beast!!

  • GO BUHAMUTQ

  • Yay for FFIX reference in the title.

  • Bahamut is the only way to pwn a final boss

  • Well, the only other Cloud I know is a cross-dresser, so I think Clouds are generally pretty androgynous.

  • @dRevan64 I lol'd.

  • I just went through this ordeal today. I happened to be traveling and beat the last of the dark crystal bosses while waiting for boarding for my flight and the final boss while over the clouds on my N900! That was awesome feeling considering how difficult it was.

My team was just Lv48 and I did not collect any shurikens along the way, so I went in without ninjas. I fought with a knight and two sages who mostly did Cure4 and Life2, the fourth character, a MKnight was dead after the second round.

  • on dissidia they got a woman voicing her so she got to be a woman because when terra was kidnapped by her he told cosmo that he could not fight "her" so the cloud of darkness is a female.

  • I love how it ends. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!! XD

  • The Cloud Of Darkness is constantly debated if it is female or has no gender.

  • "shes dies thats the point...yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy"lol

  • Every time you go to the Item menu, any stat buffs go away, so casting Haste with Shurikens is useless. Also, you should have used Protect, since it is essentially a combination of Shell and Protect in this game, and is quite overpowered.

  • *cough* 3rd grade science class*cough*

  • What the hentai boss with TentackleSnakes? xD

  • IX quote

  • Awesome FF9 reference. And a full 2 years before you did Final Fantasy 9! :D

  • i love the yaaaaaaaaay and the end lolol

  • sephiroth died to knights of the round table XD

  • I love that in the DS version the cloud has physical attacks, and on top flare she has another powerful spell. Also, two of her snakes also fight, they cast haste and...reflect? i think. anyways, in the DS version it's a much more interesting fight. I used a Knight, Warlock, White Wiz upgrade (dont remember the name) and a Ninka. Awesome battle

  • @davevf123 The upgrade for the white mage is called a devout in that version, Also, my party (almost up to dark tentacle hentai girl thing) is a knight, a ninja, a ranger, and a sage. It actually is pretty good, especially the ranger, for some reason.

  • lol a transvestite as a boss

  • I just love the final boss theme. It must one of the best (if not the best) musicis in any nes game.

  • Looks like Spamming FlareWave over and over and over again didn't help the Dark Cloud this time xD Fantastic Job HC

  • wat harp uses requiem

  • In the DS version, I had Arc (who I named after me) as a Bard. I know what your thinking... but the first several rounds. Requiem does 9999 damage to all parts of the Cloud!!! I also had Refia ( i hate making girls weak little mages) a Dragoon, Ingus as a Ninja, and Luneth as a devout to heal, But the party i tend to use is Luneth as a Summoner, Arc as a Devout, Refia as a Dragoon, and Ingus as a Ninja.

  • you re funny!

  • I do believe haste improves numbers of hits - but I can't be too sure. It's been a while since I've played a FF in the 1-3 range.

  • I find this boss a lot easier on the DS,I was on level 62 on the DS with a Ninja, devout, knight and a useless sage.

I don't know why people think the DS version is so much harder,it is the first half of the game is harder (actually the boss) but I think the nes version is harder after that.

  • Well, in the DS version, bosses can hit from 2 to 4 times and those attacks are normally combined with magic so yeah...it's hard untill you get decent hp and defence.

  • i agree ds version is much easier

  • Regarding the Cloud of Darkness, it's technically a genderless being of the void, but it decided to take the form of a giant green woman.

  • in the ds version you have 3 targets to aim at. and you know the flarewave in that version is called the particle beam, the reason i say that you have 3 targets in the ds version is because the tenticles to get rid of them to atack the main body.

  • Ah, just beat her yesterday on the DS version (wow was she a lot more difficult there, also it seems ally HP values are a bit stilted in that, but the Cure spells are Much more effective)

    My team was...

    Luneth - White Mage - Lvl. 59

    Arc - Sage - Lvl. 59

Refia - Ranger - Lvl. 59 (I swear Rangers are the new Ninja in that version... Barrage is Amazing!)

    and...

Viscen (because I Hate the name Ingus) - Black Belt - Lvl. 59

A very fun game, and they expect a lot out of the player.

  • Again great job Man :D

    My party after winning:

    Sage-lvl 51

    sage-lvl 50

    ninja-lvl 50

    ninja-lvl 50

the final gauntlet and cloud of darkness with no shurikens. i can honestly say without them, this is one of the hardest final areas i have played. Fighting cloud of darkness with no shurikens requires lots of good-timing-cure4's.

  • Completely agree about the Ranger. 9999 dmg per hit on normal enemies and does 4 of those attacks. It's just.. awsome. Was lvl 57 at dark world. Final Party:

    Ranger, Bard, Ninja and Devout

Which kinda made the last dungeon very easy apart from the bosses as I always struck first with my three attackers (the high agility jobs) and no enemies could even attack me once. And could also haave all guys at backrow. on bosses. Kept Ninja at front row for random encounters. (DS version)

  • I beat her with Dark Knight, Dragoon, Sage and Ninja all level 55

  • Its a very hard battle when you fight whit :

    Luneth - Ninja, lvl 52

Arc - Sage, lvl 52 (WHITOUT CURE)

    Refia - Devout, lvl 51

    Ingus - Warlock, lvl 51

I used all my elixirs to defeat her.

    I know, my english sucks.

  • Just beat this game on the DS. Excellent game. I got to the end at lvl 54, couldnt defeat her.. so I had to grind up to lvl 62.

I didnt feel like taking the easy way out and switching my classes so I kept same classes as ive been playing with which were:

Luneth - Knight job lvl 82

Arc - Ninja job lvl 32

Refia - Devout job lvl 32

Ingus - Dragoon job lvl 80

    FF1,2,3,6,7,8 down 4,5,9,10,10-2,12 to go :)

  • In Dissidia Final Fantasy it depicts her as a female, also nice Final Fantasy IX reference.

  • Man this is so boring even for a FF final boss. I wonder why they made the two tentacle things in the DS version instead of giving the cloud more turns but anyway the difficulty is mutch more fitting than in this...

My favorit Final boss music is in FFX but i don't think Otherworld counts xD

  • I'd say the Cloud of Darkness disintegrates or dissolves.

  • LoL(most girls from FF will geting chased by pervs everyday if they r real so I guess u called COD first{not calling u a perv & COD actualy has no Gender, but "she" takes the form of a Woman})

  • drak cloud is so hard on the ds version

    i hate it it's like she dose 3 attack's

at once it's hard can. have you beat

her on the ds version and what level was

    you on ?

  • Yeah, the ds version seems to be much much harder, not only does everyone have more hp, but they do more damage as well.

The game still kicks ass though.

  • Finally beat her WITHOUT using Ninja/Saga combo (used Red Mage (should have had her as a Devout instead) / Geomancer / Dark Knight (quickly became almost useless attack-wise) / Summoner (Bahumet spam) )

  • I LOVE THAT THEME!!!

  • cloud of darkness is genderless, I suppose it could be a female since its a manifestation of the darkness into that form

  • I love the "yaaaay" just as the video ends.

  • The boss is precipitating!!!!!! xD

  • @linkizpure

i dont wanna think about the MANY ways that can be....

DANGGIT I HATE IT WHEN YOU FORGET SIMPLE WORDS THAT U THINK YOU WOULDNT FORGET BUT DO FORGET

  • Personally, I think the Final Boss Music is one of the better Final Boss music I've ever heard...I don't know why I like this Final Boss Music so much, I just like the beat to this music. Sounds much better in DS version...It's not my favorite Final Boss music, but one of my favorites, like in the top 5...I've played many RPG games so I've heard lots of Final Boss Music.

  • Oh yes! I like it too! It's my favorite before "Decisive Battle" from Final Fantasy X and "Maybe I'm a lion" from Final Fantasy VIII!

  • It'd be so easier to lvl grind on the real system if you could just cut it out T^T

  • I managed to beat dark cloud using 1 ninja and 2 sages (and 1 corpse)...

The heal getting divided to 3 chars is alot stronger and haste on the ninja increased damage nicely.

  • on the final fantasy wiki it says that CoD is not female, nor male, it just took the physical form of a female for no apparent reason.

  • This has to have the weakest variant of Cure 4 ever.

  • I will 3rd to that. An upload of FF IX would be, in your own terminology, awesome, dude!

  • Nice FFIX reference. I hope, someday, you LP it.

  • I'll second that. Final Fantasy IX rocks. I don't know if it's better or worse than some other good ones like IV or VI, but it rocks.

  • I made it with the other classes on the ds version close. Fortunaly were my mystic knights and dragoon classes maxed so they made OVER 9000!!!!!! damage.

  • clouds precipitate.

  • rofl I love how u talk stupid things xDDDD (I dont mean it in a bad way)

  • A cloud would 'dissipate'. :D

    XD

  • LUCKY!! in the ds game it has an attack that does 9999 damage!! but i think that's only the first part..

  • It's only when you first encounter her or if you encounter her the last time and you haven't found all the dark warriors.

  • oh okay thx!!

  • lol I was bad at the game, and when I got to this boss (on the NES), my Ninja and D. Knight had died, so it was two sages casting cure4 and Bahamut over and over again until she died (and using elixirs)

I defiantly need to get better lol

  • dissipates? im not sure

  • In the DS version, they numbed her down a LOT. first off, she/he/it can use particle beam (flare wave substitute) but only occasionally. normally she/he/it just slaps two party members for about a third to a half of their HP. The Tentacles(which u have to kill one to attack the green thing itself) cast status ailment spells normally, but after getting all those ribbons, its completely useless, so yeah easy boss.(none of them cast lightning or protect when i played it, Tehkraziboi)

  • doesn't really surprise me. Most remakes done these days are unfortunately made easier. This is quite sad b/ the ppl that never played the original classic games will never know just how really good and difficult the original games were. In addition many remade games are plagued with faster walking speeds. BOF, FF, PS remakes are just a few of the games where walk speeds are insanely fast.

  • Too bad that

    Your party has lower HP

Attacks on your party do more damage

Bosses have TONS of HP compared to the original

Ninjas and Sages have been nerfed. Bad.

And the end dungeon is particularily more dangerous.

They're equal in terms of difficulty.

  • You don't have to kill either tentacle... and the tentacles also cast lightning and beneficial spells on each other and the main body. I'd say overall, from what I've seen, that the DS version is at least as hard, if not harder than the NES version.

  • Epic battle and epic win! What a great job! Oh, and I think somebody already said this, but clouds dissipate. Anyway, congratulations on defeating one of the toughest final bosses in the Final Fantasy franchise.

  • I don't think HC really elaborated on how hard this boss is WITHOUT having 20+ shurikens and an insane amount of level grinding. Dark Cloud, despite having only one attack, is one of two hardest bosses along with Neo Exodus. You HAVE to do everything HC says in order to beat this thing -- there is no other way.

  • Yeap. Dark Cloud is a total bitch. :| HC makes it look... SO easy.. since he's cut out the leveling 8)

  • That has to be the most boring final boos yet :| I mean, you have a boss that uses only 1 freaking attack. It's a good thing they fixed it in the DS version.

  • Nice video

  • Despite it only having one attack, I actually find this the be the hardest final boss in the series, mainly because its damage is so unpredictable :P

Unless levels are insanely high I find it nigh on impossible to keep up with the healing.

  • Man I love the final boss theme for this.

    Nice title! ;)

  • She turned into a puddle? Megaflare heated her into steam? She condensed onto the Shurikens and was scattered? Any way it happened, Miss Cloud went down... and such great graphics for a single NES sprite, too - more than four colors! It's likely done tile by tile for her, as it seemed Xande used multiple color palettes as well (his cape gave it away) - quite a graphical achievement for 8 bits, only surpassed by Phantasy Star I.

  • dang i swear you put these things out like laaate :P 9 pm where i am crazy... anyway good work hc

  • This battle wasn't much better on DS..a few more moves, sure, but it also soon reaches a point where it is mathematically impossible to lose. Still a good game, though, and this was another good LP!

  • Well, technically, she's not really a cloud, as she can manifest into a physical form. Countless theories say she is a lone entity created from the struggle between light and darkness, which kid of makes sense.

  • I think Dark Cloud had 120k HP in the DS version. It also has more than one attack--in addition to FlareWave, Meteor is incredibly dangerous. I am using the same setup you have at level 58 and still can't win. =/

  • She can't use Flare Wave or Meteor in the DS version... She only uses physical attacks and Particle Beam, and her tentacles can cast Haste, Protect, and Lightning.

  • And the tentacles also use Bad Breath.

  • Yes~ I was waiting all day for this episode. ^o^ OMG, thank you so much~

Something to look forward too everyday. Thanks for the awesme video, HC.

  • Clever title XD

  • Heeey the title is from the 'I Want to be your Canary' play opening in FFIX! :D

And lol @ the cloud being a girl and melting. xD

This has been my favoritest LPs ever.

  • the final battle is SPAMTASTIC! :)

  • wtf i wanted to see the end@@@@@@@@@ wtf i wanted to see what happens at the end y did u end it@@@@@@@@@@

  • Good work.

  • Lol.. finally! ive been refreshing youtube for over three hours waiting!

  • Wouldn't she just rain?

  • Sweet can't wait to see th onino kid gear in action, it sounds cool but will it live up to it

  • I think the word you were looking for was dissapate HC

  • out of all the final fantasy i like 3 being top 2 4 being top3 9 being top 1 10 being top 4 and for mytop five "drum rol" number 5 thats all folks lol

  • Dark Cloud changed a lot in the DS. She has many different attacks and two of her tentacles cast a variety of spells. She also has Bad Breath that inflicts all status ailments to all party members. Without Ribbons (which prevents status ailments now) equipped, this boss is ridiculously tough, and if you lose, you have to climb the entire tower all over again! This is one of the toughest final bosses in any Final Fantasy game (at least in the DS version.).

  • I lost to that boss twice and gave up. I ended up selling the game and watching the ending online.

  • Word

  • In the DS version it has many attacks. Man that was fast! this boss is stupid why didn't it cast meteor? Flarewave? Is that ment to be Megaflare or the Flare from final fantasy 1 that hits all targets?

  • SHE DIES(echo) that's the point! LOL! Nice gameplay.

  • Heat a cloud up enough, vapor (or any gas) can turn into the plasma state.

  • oh yeah the same move over and over again that really clobbers you but Bailly's got it down so that doesn't matter

  • ending plawks

  • Sweet baha owned the clud!

  • Pwned! You really made this game look easy dude, and I heard it was incredibly difficult. Maybe the DS version was harder, I dunno *shrugs*. Anyway, good job and I look forward to your future LPs.

  • Awesome! Die, you evil...green...cloud...thing!!

Anyway, they just announced the dark cloud and onion knight job class for disidia final fantasy: a fighting game for the franchise.

    Excited?

  • YES. i cant wait until that comes out

  • until what comes out....?????????

  • disidia final fantasy. sorry i should have mentioned that lol

  • AWESOME!!

  • I love the pun in the title.

Vii and VII are on my list of favorite Fantasies, Ix being first, Vii, Vii, and last X.

  • In the DS remake, The Cloud of Darkness refers to itself as "We".

As in "We are the Cloud of Darkness..." and "We will return everything to The Void..."

  • Just like Lurichiyo from Bleach.

  • Also, clouds lose water and disappear :P

  • YAY! GO HCBAILLY WOO! Nice FFIX reference in the title too.

  • Nice!

  • YES

    Epic win!
