well clark and superman aren`t really alike but she could`ve known that always when superman appears clark is nowhere to be found :D and still he is the only one who can contact him kinda strange??
well superman is always showing off and he has no glasses and a little bit of gel in his hair and a weird costume it`s the complete opposite of clark.
clark is always getting pushed around and everyone think of him as just a reporter and of course the glasses help. this scene is why i love this show.
You know what the beauty of a fictional TV show is? It's FICTION! That's the whole point of the thing. BTW, this is and always will be one of my favorite episodes!
I am I don't wear glasses and I don't wear suits (I don't like wearing them and haven't worn one since I was 16 and I'm 33). If I walked around in glasses, slumped down, acting really clumbsy you know what? PEOPLE WILL STILL KNOW WHO THE HELL I AM!!! How dumb are people who live in Metropolis, and how REALLY dumb are people who like in Smallville (they grew up with the guy for heaven sake!!) How can they not know!!!
@hjames78 No... seriously???? Put it this way. We are fortunate to be watching a work of fiction so every time we see Clark we see through the disguise cause guess what? We're fed that as the basis of the plot.
My next point is this. The people in Metropolis think Superman is an alien with no double life AKA ALWAYS in costume etc. That way Clark doesn't have to worry about people trying to look through his disguise the way we the audience are able to.
@Nintendofan4000 yea I guess you make a good point but still... I mean seriously for the people who grew up with him in Smallville. They at least should realize it.
I would have to say that though Clark never made it seem like he was Superman, she's seen both of them close up, or should have by now assuming this show follows all other Lois and Clark Superman shows/comics. One look should have been painfully, stupidly obvious, so I'll have to agree with Tempus on this one. Plus the voice. Lois, really, that was terribly dumb.
The reason Lois never figured out that Clark was Superman is because Clark never did anything to make Lois suspect he was Superman. There are guys who resemble Kobe Bryant, but if you put a basketball in their hands, the resemblance fades quickly.
Even if you can't recognize his face, CLARK AND SUPERMAN HAVE THE EXACT SAME VOICE, COME ON. Clark doesn't make himself sound gruff like Christian Bale's Batman.
"There is on question that keeps coming up: HOW. DUMB. WAS SHE?!"
LOL x100. Gotta admit the guy has a point. When he's "showing her what he means" with the glasses it's even funnier. "Look, I'm Clark Kent!" *takes off glasses* "No, I'm Superman!" *puts on glasses* "Mild-mannered reporter" *takes off glasses* "Superheeerrro!"
tempus has remained one of my favorite villians , for one he knows everything about superman and 2 lane davies plays the role perfectly thanks for the vid
Also, I really miss the style of television writing where characters from the future threw scientific sounding words into everyday conversation at random. "Galacticly stupid"?
Well, now i don't know what to believe, is god real? is Barack Obama really the president? does Santa live in the north pole? is the syrloin stake burger made with hte finest meat?
In the comics they explain how his glasses' lenses are made with glass from the wrecked shuttle he came to earth in and the glass somehow brainwashes the viewer into thinking he is someone else.
This reminds me of a Silver Age "Imaginary Story" comic book cover where Superman flat says he won't marry Lois, asking why would he marry someone so stupid to not be able to see through the disguise.
IIRC DC comics actually stated in their relaunch of Superman during the '80s that the general public was unaware that Superman had a secret identity (and thus no one tried to discover said secret identity). Unfortunately it still doesn't quite work for Clark's colleagues like Lois who come into contact with both Clark Kent and Superman on a regular basis.
havent seen this in a while... ouch. and good gad, that guy is annoying. granted, Clark's cover wasn't spectacular (i always referred to it as the "magic glasses"), but heck man... it was a closely guarded secret for a reason. he worked very hard to keep it from everybody, especially her, for a good long time. calling the poor girl "galactically stupid" is... a bit much
One of the best scenes in one of the besto episodes ever. I loved this series. And I also qould have done that being the villain, the same exact thing.
and then when Clark shows up, she slaps him in the face

But Lois and Clark is really a whole different kind of show than Smallville 90210.

Superman stands without a mask which would lead most people to assume he doesn't have a secret identity, Lois isn't THAT dumb :P
