You can do some neat stuff using the jump button while hanging and when Samus is against some objects. One way I did this was to (jump) from that platform that Samus passes through when falling, she swung around and on top of the higher (pass through) platform. She won't pass through as long as you're still grappled to the zoomer.
It's tricky, but experiment using the jump button. It might make that part easier, if not - you've (probably) learned something new. I know I did. :-o
