I must say I LOVE this video of your quaker! I laugh every time I see it! I've been thinking very hard recently on getting a quaker parrot myself. I work at a local pet store/have a general knowledge and have a few close friends who own a few birds themselves and was wondering if you thought quakers were good beginner birds? Would you say they're "one-person" birds, since I'm hoping to own a bird that doesn't mind being handled by others as well as me. Either way, Oliver is wonderful!
My husband and I also have a Quaker that has fallen in love with Oliver! Her name is Bella and as soon as we play the video she mimics exactly what Oliver says, right down to the gurgles and giggles. If you stop the video mid way through she freaks out and tries to bite the keyboard! I was wondering if you could add any more videos of him talking so that I may let her watch them?! She has learned his name and demands to see him. It would mean so much to us.
@Susansflock oh my gosh this bird is an exact replica of my quaker, Billy.... who even used to laugh when he would "fake bite". Just like that! What a flashback!
@NirvanaFanForever94 Why don't you consider getting another Quaker.?? I know a bird you really love and was part of your family can never be replaced, but there are precious Quakers out there that need a loving home.!!
@wingnutwally Yes, we were away on a trip and I left him at home with my 21 year old and we always lock up the dog when we are out, he didn't. :( It was a terrible accident.
Aren't these the best birds ever, I have one and he loves to get in his cage and I say "Imma get u" and stick my head in the cage above his head. he loves to chase my hand and he laughs so hard at this, soooo cute.
i have two quaker but they all way runn away wen i want to hold them what can i do for them to love me please help n i get them for my birthday n i fall in love with them n how long they take to start talkin????????????....
@orentiatia1234 Have them im separate cages. these parrots will for stronger relationships with each other then the humans if they live together and this will cause them to dislike human contact. If they are young birds they may also just be shy. Our Quaker Fetches a ball when you throw it, and when he family has dinner she flys over and sits at her plate and eats with he family. they are amazing birds =]
our bird is 6 months i think and she fetches balls, says peekapoo and gimmie kiss.
I have a quaker. To break him of bitting, get a small towel and grab him everytime he reaches out to bite. He will then know you and trust you. Quaters are very smart birds and you need to earn thier trust. Once you do, they are very loyal birds. Mine (Scooter) will sleep on my chest under my chin, while I watch TV. If they start grooming you...like grabbing your hair...that is a sign of love. They groom thier mates.
how long have you had this quaker..I've only had mine since Dec.10 of this year..how long did it take for you to have him to step up and to start talking/laughing?
Awww!!!

Awesome! Our Quaker parrot is named Oliver too! And yes, sharkies14, Quakers can be really quite loud, but they're wonderful pets.
