I have no problems with our fellow citizens who stand up against the government and voice concerns on our behalf. And for that I, too salute them because there are certain things with the government that I am unhappy about and I'm pretty sure we all have our gripes about the PAP.

But I, for one minute, can never trust Dr. Chee and his posse. He can't even answer the question about 'how is he going to help the rising cost of living' properly....

In fact he evaded the question & seemed rather surprised at being asked the question, which pretty much summed up his motives for this protest.

My point is if a person thinks something is wrong/feels strongly about certain things, then provide a solution (like Mr Chiam and Mr Low) instead of creating further problems.

And that's how you earn trust & respect.

On a side note, the way he behaves sometimes had me wondering if he is a mole sent by the govt to 'destroy' the image of the opposition.

Benefit? How would what Chee is doing right now benefit Singaporeans? He is making things worse for the opposition in Singapore. He deters potential talents from joining the opposition with his anitcs. Tell me what did he do to boost the opposition name? Did he make it more attractive? It's an embarassment to be associated with someone like him. He was desperate enough to bring along children. How will the children feel after being exposed to such incidents at such a young age?

Right now it may not look like what he is doing is of benefit to many. But look at the net for example, people have been responding, regardless of it being good or bad, too all these vids like you and me. I think that alone is an achievement to say the least. Hasn't the debate about Dr. Chee at least challenged many of us to test our beliefs? I am very certain that SDP stands by what he is doing. I've yet to hear a critic within the SDP object to Chee vocally.

Well if they do dessolve, which I believe they won't, at least they've pushed the boundaries a little. The level of tolerance towards people like Chee will change because of the things he has done. And in my opinion, the level of tolerance for people with different political opinions is low at the moment. There is a certain way in which Singapore operates, and I respect that, but it's time to give other ideas a chance. Chee is not a "near psychopath". He is just a man of circumstances.

This matter requires serious dialogue. Chee is not pushing forward the boundaries. He stretching it. That's what he's doing. Political opinions have nothing to do with the level of tolerance. It is how you manuevre under that level that matters. Singapore, under the PAP, is a social democracy with a capitalist Other Asian countries have proven that liberal democracy doesn't work for them. Asia and Europe developed differently and seperately. The Europeans came and brought down everything.

More like I support a systematic form of governance with as little obstacles as possible. Dr Chee is definitely wrong by taking on a confrontational policy towards the government. Our police is being very kind by not stunning him with a tazer. That's what happens in states such as USA, countries that you people model as a free country with huge respect for human rights. In order to right the wrong in Singapore, our opposition will have to change tact or strategy. CSJ doesn't make things easier.
