@Kg277 I don't believe I added any effects to this video, other than splicing it. Specifically, I don't believe I did any color adjustments or added any glow. I'm pretty sure this was stock, and done with available software such as REX and the Vancouver+ addon from FSAddon.
@marakokos1 this was maxed, however this was an addon made back in 2008 if I remember correctly. I have since changed my RAM to Corsair Dominator after one of my old RAM sticks failed.

@00mustangdude DX10 is a rendering version, to use it you must have a directx 10 (which is the full name for DX10) compatible video card, if you don't, you cannot use DX10.
@hotlauwtje the processor type is the most important thing when using FSX, since you did not name the type of processor you can't really be sure, 2.66ghz is just your clock speed, which is important, but for all we know from what you said, it could be a ten year old pentium 4.
just wish they'd make an FS that didn't eat memory like late stage alzheimers, because I do enjoy them a lot but as soon as I mess with anything at all whether it be scenery addons or aircraft then the OOM ctd of death is just around the corner on my 32bit OS, guess i'll have to upgrade to 64bit as my next purchase.

@GigglingGirI depends on how you set it up. FSX even today is still a rather demanding simulator, but there are ways you can get it set up that will have you throttling through beautiful canyons with a solid 30FPS.
Part of the reason it is coded for CPU is because 1) the dev team at the time was working on the principle of doubling MHz, which was busted right about the time the game came out and 2) there is legacy code which nobody had access to.
@GigglingGirI You have to give the engine credit though. Just cause is not rendering ATC, a full fledged random fleet of flying aircraft, 120+ miles of visibility based on landclass and elevation supplied by the space shuttle, etc. There is another MS Flight on the way as well.
As someone who works closely with developers in the FS industry, I think it is fair to say however that improvements could definitely be made to FS.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Laptop and a 150GB external Hard Drive, where can I download DX10? The brothersoft website scares me because it looks like a virus playground, asking to scan my computer... (hehehe, no) THANKS and Happy Turkey Day!

@00mustangdude DX10 is a rendering version, to use it you must have a directx 10 (which is the full name for DX10) compatible video card, if you don't, you cannot use DX10.

@hotlauwtje the processor type is the most important thing when using FSX, since you did not name the type of processor you can't really be sure, 2.66ghz is just your clock speed, which is important, but for all we know from what you said, it could be a ten year old pentium 4.

just wish they'd make an FS that didn't eat memory like late stage alzheimers, because I do enjoy them a lot but as soon as I mess with anything at all whether it be scenery addons or aircraft then the OOM ctd of death is just around the corner on my 32bit OS, guess i'll have to upgrade to 64bit as my next purchase.

I just bought the latest i7 with 12 gig ram and an ati 5970 with 4 gig gpu ram will it run this game smooth? my older computer stutters because this stupid game is coded for cpu instead of gpu.

@GigglingGirI depends on how you set it up. FSX even today is still a rather demanding simulator, but there are ways you can get it set up that will have you throttling through beautiful canyons with a solid 30FPS.
Part of the reason it is coded for CPU is because 1) the dev team at the time was working on the principle of doubling MHz, which was busted right about the time the game came out and 2) there is legacy code which nobody had access to.

Just cause 2 has better graphics and i would get 300FPS on mine at very high settings.

@GigglingGirI You have to give the engine credit though. Just cause is not rendering ATC, a full fledged random fleet of flying aircraft, 120+ miles of visibility based on landclass and elevation supplied by the space shuttle, etc. There is another MS Flight on the way as well.
As someone who works closely with developers in the FS industry, I think it is fair to say however that improvements could definitely be made to FS.

@valkyrie321 Microsoft flight sims is the worse game i have ever played don't expect me to buy another CPU stuttering game ever again.
I am done with this game it took them 12 years and they still didn't learn a lesson. Games are played with GPU not CPU.

What's amazing is that FSX was made in 2006, and not until about now is FSX able to run with Ultra High graphics without being laggy.
