@MsAmbrosia29 Oh I forgot to add that Disney only owns the main Muppets characters (Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, etc). They don't own the Jim Henson Company, which I believe is run by Jim's son, Brian.
@MsAmbrosia29 When this show aired back in the 70's, Disney didn't own the Muppets (that deal went down at least 20 years later), so the Muppets had some fun spoofing their "rivals" at Disney.
There's a lot of copyright infringements of the Disney characters in this episode of The Muppet Show. There's a moose named Mickey Moose who also have his own club just like Mickey Mouse does. He also have a duck wearing a sailor suit sidekick named Ronald Duck who talk nothing like Mickey Mouse's sidekick, Donald Duck. I think Kermit was worrying about getting lawsuits from Mickey Mouse and The Walt Disney Company.
1. the evil rooster looks like a proto type 4 chamberlain from the dark crystal and 2. talk about irony 30 yrs ago they r takin shots at disney now disney owns them
Petula singing "I'm Too Shy" accompanied by Rowf the Dog... magnificent! She sings it so beautifully and looks gorgeous too. What she does with the ending note blows me away.
Jim Henson always admired The Walt Disney Empire. Too bad there was no talk spot in this episode with Petula and Kermit. Kermit always loved flirting with all the pretty female guest stars that appeared on The Muppet Show!
Petula singing "I'm Too Shy" (last portion of this clip) is some of Petula's best singing - a wonderful vocal, sensitive performance, song beautifully interpreted. Thanks for posting this - I haven't seen it since it first aired - decades ago.

"Oh, very good, guys! I didn't understand it, but I loved it!"
Adequate way to comment on that chicken western if not falling over in laughter.
Why are there never rebroadcasts of this?! Why do today's TV believe they got something like talent? WHY?!

My family used to keep chickens when I was a kid, so I can tell you from personal experience that roosters really do act like that!

I guess other Muppet-Disney parodies would be a dog named Clumsy, Goofy, & another dog named Saturn.

Them, and a girl duck named Pansy or something.

The silly song is on the same set as "The Lonely Goatherd" sketch with Julie Andrews - a lot of the characters are in the same costumes too.
