If your iDevice is not supported by Jailbreakme, there is software (DFU Helper or Last DFU) that will put your iPhone into DFU mode so that you can Jailbreak using Redsn0w with a broken home button. Or you can use the method at the link iphoneappmaster posted in the description. I used the same method about 4 years ago and it works great, but I haven't tested it lately, should work though.

@DNA64Productions This is a great tip, thanks for sharing! Another thing you can do is wait for IOS 5 (or find a way to get your UUID registered with a developer). There's a new setting that gives you an overlay with several options such as locking, home button, and volume controls. This does not require a jailbreak either.

If you're having issues doing any of this because your home button is broken already, and your iPhone has a passcode or you can put a passcode on the device. Then all you need to do is hit Emergency Call, then the back arrow, then enter your passcode, and you'll be on the home screen. Do this anytime you need to press the home button.
