The 'revolver' looks like a Very pistol to me. Could be a Webley. I think they where issued to the aircrew to enable them to set fire to their aircraft should they come down behind enemy lines.
Like many before him he failed to see that a new kind of weapon would rapidly develop in the future.
Had the war gone on into 1919 the Entente planned several strategic bombing campaigns. The Handley Page V1500 and Vickers Vimy had the range to reach Berlin. As you no doubt know they used a Vickers Vimy to cross the Atlantic in 1919.
@Friendo1231 Thanks a lot for this. The "Fee" is a beauty combined with strangeness, which may be why I'm attracted to her. It was love at first sight.
I like the way that the gunner is innocently handed a pistol. At that time crew had no parachutes and a great fear for them was to be shot down un a burning aircraft (a flamer). The pistol was there to take a faster less painful painful way out. BRAVE MEN!!

Excellent thank you. The books Winged Victory and Sagittarius Rising give very good accounts of being a WW1 pilot.

I've been researching the FE for a long time in order to build a 1/5 scale RC model. This film is like finding gold, thanks for posting.
