Now for you idiots arguing about console wars. Each one has certain advantages for consumers and developers. For us, console releases tend to be more stable and are easier to patch since it's a set type of system, while PC releases are easier to mod and customize. Like it or not, Skyrim was built for Console releases. This is obvious in the menu structure alone.

Im sure when "Elder Scrolls: Arena" came out, they never imagined technology like the Xbox or PS3 being invented. And the PC was the only available thing strong enough to run it at the time. So pretty much the only thing that the game would operate on at the time was a PC. The "best" console around that time might have been the PS1 but I don't think it could run arena or daggerfall. these chests are were the shop keepers items are stored. This is so that what the shop keeper can sell isn't limited to what they can carry. Every chest you find actually represents a shopkeeper such as the one in Dawnstar storing for the Khajit merchant. If you want to test this for yourselves just take the gold out of one of the chests and see which shop keeper nearby has no gold available.

The chest you looted was the Store's inventory. I believe each store has this glitch. I know from doing it myself that the Smith in Witerun next to the house you buy and the Skyforge has a chest you can loot. But when looting the Skyforge be careful because you can get stuck in the ground.
