@kobe9985 You apparently misinterpreted my posting. All I was saying is that Bruce Springsteen's"State Trooper" was apparently inspired by the works of Suicide. That's all. I meant no insult to anyone.
Beautifully handled. Vega's solo first three solo albums go great with Springsteen from that era. Of course there was a lot of acknowledged interplay between them. Also love The Boss's unreal cameo on the studio version of Reed's STREET HASSLE.
At least, Bruce should stay playing organ until the end of the Suicide's most beautiful song. His any action is not needed for people who love Suicide.
I seen The Boss in Seattle on his solo Devils & Dust tour. He brought an emotional response from the crowd and made me a fan of "Dream Baby Dream." I don't mind saying he brought tears to my eyes when he sang this song. So few lyrics and a pump organ....who knew?
beautiful song... oh yeah... dream baby dream....... come on you gotta keep on dreaming.. come on you gotta keep on dreaming.. come on darling dry your eyes.. come on dream baby dream.. yeah i just wanna see you smile :) yeah i just wanna see you smile :)
I saw Bruce preforme this song in Rotterdam Ahoy '05 d&d tour. He was great it was a powerfull and intimate experience. When I listen too this clip I am back in 2005 Ahoy .
Where was this shot? Curious, as I saw him do this at the Nassau Coliseum on the D&D tour.
I recall hoping he'd pull out "Thunder Road," "Born to Run" or another hit -- he'd only done "Incident on 57th Street:" from the E Street Band -- and then he played this.
He is the BOSS..... this proves it for me, wasnt always a huge fan of his, my mom is, but to see him covering a suicide song, and knowing he goes to shows with his kids (Against Me!) hes as big a fan of music as he is a superstar in the music industry... personal fav bruce record: Nebraska.....

i seriously dont know what it is about this song but its fucking MAGICAL. i listened to it for like an hour straight and didnt get bored. like its the kind of song that should be really boring, but its the best song ever made by ANYONE EVER EVER
I meant thumbs up! I saw him perform this on the D&D tour, and as powerful as it is here, live it WAS magical. We were all under a spell. Emotion and sound filled the theater in a way that I've never heard at one of his concerts--and I've seen quite a few--when thousands are singing our hearts out. The haunting organ and his voice alone seemed to be singing to each one of us alone. What a powerfully intimate experience. I actually called my office to record it and listened to it over and over.
Mesmerizing. Saw this in Seattle '05, but at least one person didn't "get it." I overheard a guy say on the way out of the arena, "great show--except for that last song."

I saw him on his solo tour i 2005 and I was completely blown away when he ended the show with this gem of a song....I have always loved the original but to hear Bruce sing this song right in my face (I was in 3rd row) was just out of this world...it was so passionate...he could have ended with "hungry heart", "glory days" or whatever to leave us all happy but no....he did this...breathtaking
He really challenged audiences on that tour. I saw the second Royal Albert Hall show in 2005. I think the first or second song was "Reason To Believe" done through a 1920s mic. It took two verses to recognise the it. Very David Lynch. Then he finisheed with THIS!
I agree with you that Bruce brings something in this minimal and restrained interpretation. I think that some people are so insecure about their love for an artist that they cannot imagine let alone allow another person to interpret any of the artists' work.

@trashysinatra .I get the "why copy" idea, but 4 me it applies more to recordings In a live performance I can think of many reasons to not feel the need to re-vision a song, but rather play it how you feel it even if it's very close to the original.
It may have felt like the best way to end the show, not even necessarily as a tribute to suicide, but maybe. Or just because the song as it is is the song he loves, thought was fitting & wanted to offer to the audience. Many probably never heard it B4
