The U.S. version is based on jokes and goofy people, while the UK one relies on awkward situations with the occasional joke. I admit that the US one is more relaxing with laugh out loud moments, but the UK show has much more original jokes that can only occur in the given situation. The advantage the US show has is more seasons to develop the characters.
