So... Islam is true because right now... in this point in history... there are many more radical Islamists that are so certain about their creed, that they kill themselves in the name of their god.
Crazy people die for their beliefs every day, sane ones dont. I think thats a much more telling point. If you where to point a gun at me and ask me to proclaim the moon was made of cheese I would do it rather then die for what I belive in. If I was a looney who heard voices maybe I would go ahead and die cause the invisible man in the head said I would live again.
Well, if you'd watched the video AND listened to what was being said, your analogy is opposite of what was going on. Jesus' hand-picked followers were the ones being threatened with death and actually being killed but instead of denying that Christ is God, they affirmed it even onto their murders. They weren't doubters ready to cast off truth just because some pressured them. Jesus wasn't "invisible". He had been with them for over 3 years.
Okay that makes it even worse, if just some guy told you its okay hold this nutty belief and after you die you will go to magic land and NOT a voice in your head you would be either a simpleton or a looney to die for it. If my own father said let this dude kill you if you dont say the moon is made out of cheese and i would say NO WAY it total is made out of cheese, NOW LET ME LIVE. Anything else shows your either slow or have a deep mental sickness.
"just some guy"? They saw Him rise from the dead and ascend into Heaven. If someone like that told me that I too would rise again, I'd be willing to die also. You might not be, but I would call that looney.
on what basis would you think it is "fictional"? I could ask, isn't the story of cavemen evolving from apes mostly (if not totally) fictional? -- How do we resolve it?
I think the bible is, to a large degree, fictional on the same basis the validity of ANY historical document is determined. is there corroborating evidence? Is that evidence biased? etc.
The theory of evolution is supported by so much evidence that it's validity is extremely probable.
I think that's how we resolve it. Just like we resolve most other things in reality :)
122nerdbombs, you said "When the disciples were preaching, they probably didn't know they would be punished for it." Then right after that, you claim Matthew is a "liar" (a la JohnLArmstrong).
So then what is your hypothesis ('the disciples probably didn't know') based upon then, since you claim Matthew is unreliable?
Actually Jesus told the disciples AHEAD of time what would happen to them -- Mt 24:10 Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake. As for the Muslims, Sura 9.5 says "Then, when the sacred months have passed, slay the idolaters wherever ye find them, and take them (captive), and besiege them, and prepare for them each ambush...
There is no comparison. The first Muslims were marauders not "preachers".
Thank you for this vid, guys. Praise God for better men than I, who wouldn't deny Christ, even to the point of death. What a great witness; it strengthens me.
There were probably some who knew Jesus, and were first hand witnesses
to the resurrection. When later they were put to the test, either die or say it was
a lie/they did deny Him, to escape death. You will not see any writings about them,
or who their names were. They were deleted from the history books.

Seemingly poor reasoning here on your part.
