  • The problem is every 9 seconds men are being abused by women - I sadly should know.....................

  • So sad this is happening all over the world ,every minute ,every day..

Brilliant Video my friend.......You have caught the true pain of domestic violence..:(..

    (thanks for posting...)

  • @mumof3girls09 Thank you. It is unfortunately one of those things that we are all connected to, we all know someone or are victims ourselves.

  • @LeSaMilano yes ,been there ,and know too many others who have also..

take care ,very impressed with ur video!I`m still trying to work out downloading!

What it is to get old(er) he!he!....Have a nice sunday my friend x

  • Sad. Violence, will human ever conquer it? As long as we use death, pain and fear to solve humanity problems violence will continue and the less strong will suffer. Be it a country, a specie, a sex, a race.

  • @MonyMG1959 unfortunately it's in our nature but maybe we will evolve :)

  • So sad ... brilliantly shown

  • Lesley..you have captured the spirit of the pain of abuse. Though I am a man, I see how women are mistreated and tormented, often at the hands of those sworn to love them and stand with them through life's hard spots. Keep up your fine work!

  • Thanks for your thoughtful comment Dave. :)

  • Wow, that's powerful Les.

  • thanks Tammy - tough subject that too many people know personally :(

  • Yes Lesa, we all should watch over that windows.

    Ciao!

    m

  • Very touching and moving! I cant help but want to know if she was ok. Best of luck on the entry too!

  • HI cookie - I swear I answered this comment ages ago - good news - just found out the film has made it into the final judging round :)- so many thanks for your support!

  • Very well done...good for you...

  • thank you- and thanks also for subscribing :)

  • Hard look, great video as always, and... ...you get better and better with every video!

  • it's a terrible illness of society.

good to see you Max- hope you are well. Thanks for the compliment :)

  • I use to be one of those nine seconds. I am so thankful that part of my life is gone. This was hard to watch but maybe it will help someone.

  • I've been on there too. Seems the statistics are correct- plenty of survivors in this comment section. xx

  • I don´t know what to say. I´m impressed and deeply touched.

  • Thanks Ralf - difficult subject :(

  • I can still remember being the child who made a call very similar, more than once...until my step father came home drunk and burned down the house...

  • children should never have to go through that xox

  • why thank you kindly Sir Billy!

  • Very powerful, Lesley! I have lots to say and yet nothing that I can seem to put into words...

I'll keep positive energies flowing for you to win the competition! This is a wonderful and powerful entry and deserves the win! :-) xoxoxo

  • Thanks Caylyn - I haven't been around much as I have my head buried in school projects right now - Xmas break is looming and I can't wait - maybe a chat over the holidays is in order! ?

    xxx

  • I'll look forward to the chat! :-) xoxoxo

  • Don't you think YT is such a great medium to get such a wonderful message across? I have never and WOULD never hit a woman, but I have been on the recieving end from my previous marriage. Thank god I escaped that and met Kim!

I hope you win hun, this was brilliant.

  • Domestic abuse against men is one of those sad untold stories because many men are too ashamed to admit they'd been beaten up by their wives/girlfriends. I commend you for sharing that - and for finding someone like Kim!

    thanks Tam :)

  • This makes me sad because what can I do?

You can make youtube videos but it won't stop it. All I can say is I will never be abusive. Verbally or physically. But that doesn't seem to be enough.

  • You never know how a small ripple of information can turn into a wave on the other side of the world. :)

  • Nice animations, but the audio gets really annoying, grating even...

And is everyone forgetting all the violence perpetrated on men and boys? I bet that's happening every 7 seconds.

Good luck with the film competition though. :)

  • I'm sure the dispatcher who took the emergency call from the little girl was feeling stronger than 'annoyed' when she took that call.

Violence against all people is wrong.

but violence perpetrated on women and girls is something I can directly speak about because I have experienced it first hand.

    thanks

  • Powerful video - it must change.

  • thanks Mother - I agree.

  • Really impressive job. On all levels.

  • Thanks Victor - it's a subject I can talk about with first hand experience but I suppose I am one of the lucky ones :)

  • you're a good woman- Thank you

  • I is what I is! Thank you :)

  • Been there.

  • yup, me too. We're not alone according to the comments here. xx

  • Wow! Fantastic and moving ... I hope you win. SmileyD

  • Thank you - there are some seriously good films in the competition - but I didn't really make this one to compete but hoped maybe to help someone. :)

  • I don't think there are words to express how powerful a short film you've made here.

  • Thanks Carl - hope you are well- nice to see you poke your head in!

  • Superlatives are of no use here! When you make a video you REALLY make a video!:)

  • haha - you should see how many jpg files I have in the project folder- I think I have animator's OCD!

    Thanks Anthony :)

  • This was done so incredibly well...my heart is racing watching this. It makes me shudder. Thank you for bringing this out into the open like this.

  • Thank you - how kind you are. It's a subject I am a bit too familiar with but I hope this might help someone somewhere, even in a small way :)

  • ...!

  • indeed :)

  • Wow! Amazing! Powerful! Thank you!

  • thank you very much, I appreciate that!

  • At the end of the video, I suddenly realized I'd been holding my breath for quite awhile.

Beautifully and powerfully done. Thank you.

  • That's little girl's voice does take my breath away , too. Thank you for watching :)

  • well done

  • thank you :)

  • Bold, Powerful video! My very first video on YT -- I talked about being abused and living in a shelter for women and children. Excellent video!

  • I'm a victim, too, Martha. We're not alone - lots of comments here reflect that and I've received lots of PMs- the statistics are alarming - but we also have another thing in common in that we are all survivors :)

  • Nicholas D Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn wrote a book called "Half the Sky" in which they assert that more women / girls are killed every year by discrimination than the total of all the men killed in all the wars in the history of the world. Mothers in India immunize their sons but not their daughters. Wives are burned alive so husbands may marry for another dowry. Daughters are sold TODAY as sex slaves. Lesley this was a very powerful video. Awareness is step one along the path to equality.

  • it is estimated there are 60 million 'missing' girls in Asia (that would otherwise be alive) due to sex selection and infanticide (gendercide).

Females have a long way to go before they are considered equal.

  • Fantastic video!! Such a powerful message!! I am one of three!!

  • me too - we have lots of company here in this comment section.

thank you for being here. :)

  • Oh this is a very powerful piece with such an important message.

    This deserves an award.

  • Thanks Maureen. I am one of the one-in- three women so this project hit close to home.

  • Powerful!

  • thanks, the little girl's voice speaks volumes.

  • Wonderful video and message!

  • Thanks Jim. This subject is one I am all too familiar with - . so it's more than a cause or a message, it's part of who I am. :)

  • Excellent video with a most important message. I hope this video wins so that the public will see it and become more aware... Kudos, Lesley, on a video well made...

  • Thanks Andy - unfortunately I am one of the victims but I am also a survivor - I hope this film makes some small difference.

  • thanks so much for that, hope you win

  • thank you for watching. I appreciate it very much.

  • Very well done and best of luck with the contest Lesley!!!

  • Thanks Robert - I wanted to work on some animation skills and I thought this might be the right project for that. :)

  • I am a survivor and so is my daughter, thank you so much Lesley.

  • Me too. Much love to you. XX

  • God bless you Lesley. I'd taken a bit of a break from YT....and seeing such a masterpiece like this reminds me what I loved about this place in the first place.

Amazing video....heart wrenching message. God bless you.

  • oops- comment disappeared!

Thank you Gary - your video meant a lot to me - not just about this subject but about how each one of us can affect a change by just one small act, whether it be a video or extending a hand to someone. It's good to see you back - whenever someone disappears for a while it feels like an old friend has moved out of the neighborhood.

    xx

  • Heart wrenching! I hope you win for all the right reasons, the women and their children.

  • Thanks Cindy - I just hope this helps someone by opening some discussion.

  • I am crying now. I have never been so moved. *tear hits the keyboard

  • I read your comment on Gary's video and it really touched me. Bless you. We are all victims as long as this ugly violence continues. XOX

  • I am a survivor. Thank you for this.

  • Me too. Bless you Gina xx

  • ♥Love♥

  • ...is all you need :)

  • Powerful.

  • a subject that touches everyone in someway - thanks

  • Excellent. I hope you win!

  • Thanks Kim. I just hope to cause a tiny ripple!

  • Powerful and heart-breaking.

  • thanks - indeed a tough subject but it touches all of society.

  • Moving and impressive!

Lets hope for a decrease in violence on all walks and genders.

  • Agreed - we need to evolve.

  • Heart-wrenching and powerful!

  • thanks Danny. Not difficult to conjure up those feelings listening to that 911 call.

  • Very powerful and moving Leslie!! Well done my friend!! Blessings,Ang

  • Thanks Ang. Such a big subject, and the little girl's voice says it all.

  • Well done.

  • thank you :)

  • Very moving and powerful. I don't even know what to say. It was just so well done.

  • Well you said it all and more in your response. Thank you for that. You will have helped someone out there-you know your vlog will have a ripple effect and that is really something important and worthwhile. xx

  • Sometimes words can't express the feelings you bring out in us, this is one of those times~~

    xoxo

  • well that deserves a hug. XOX

    thanks Marylou. xx

  • Well done and you have no idea how moving this was to me. I am actually sitting here with my heart pounding as I listened to that 911 call. I had to listen to one during my training (for a 911 dispatcher) of a pregnant woman being stabbed repeatedly and eventually decapitated in front of her kids. It is not something you want to hear especially the children...this just brought back so many emotions! To real, so sad, moving....I hope you are recognized for your efforts!

  • Wow Lisa - I commend you for being part of the process that helps people. My heart goes out to the dispatchers that have to stay calm while at the same time want to reach into that phone and pull the people out of the danger.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. xx

  • a sad reality..very well done..best of luck in the screening..

  • thank you - it's a sad reality - I'm glad that there is an opportunity here for people to discuss this. :)

  • Lesley - excellent vid - all the way 'round. I'd say you have a winner.

In other words, this is an extremely important message and you presented it beautifully.

  • Thanks Ali - and thanks for your PM. xx

  • Well done Leslie, a fabulous cause. Best of luck to you!

  • Thanks Pip. I just hope it brings a little light to a dark corner. :)

  • wow, that gave me goosebumps....fantastic video though...

  • I still get goosebumps when I listen to that poor little girl - and I have heard it a thousand times.

    Thanks :)

  • Very good and kind of disturbing. Start packing for Venice!

  • Thanks Vic. Disturbing is good! Well - at least for this film!

  • Lesley, you've done an incredible video here. I believe you have a winning product for this campaign and would love to hear that you are an entry in the Venice Int'l Film festival. I wish the U.S. would participate in this campaign. I'm featuring this on my homepage. The message touches on a moment in my history.

  • Thank you Ann - I've been there, too. I feel I have been one of the lucky ones and got out and survived. I hope this helps someone , somewhere.

  • I've been one in those three. Once there-always there.

If people could hear the pain, iI don't see how they could ignore it.

The courts don't hear pain. It's a private battle.

I heard a local story about a child going missing from a supermarket, found in the tolites, her head half shaved-dressed in boys clothes. More slavery, kidnap, human trafficking in the name of a better life goes on than we'd ever have nightmares about. We need to look out for each other-on so many levels.

    Great film. x

  • Yep. Me too. It stays with you forever and becomes part of who you are. So many people in this comment section both here and on Facebook as well as private PMs - so many people feel shame and I'd like to let them know there is no shame, to take it all away from them.

    Thanks Tia.

  • Great short for a great cause. Thx Lesley!

  • thank you - a subject I am too familiar with xx

  • Compelling video, Lesley -- the audio made me want to jump in there and do something. I hope it works like that in the competition -- good luck!

  • I like the way you said 'jump in there and do something' - me too. I bet the dispatcher felt the same tenfold.

    Thank you Liz! xx

  • Well done, Lesley, and your very professional sounding voice is perfect for the voice over.

  • Thanks Marc - funnily enough I borrowed some fancy pants professional recording equipment from the college and did the voice work - and it sounded like crap - so I re-taped it on my trusty old Panasonic camera and sounded much better!

We don't need no stinking professional mics! ;)

  • I cannot tell you how this affected me. That little girl... I don't know how that dispatcher held it together. This is very well done.. and really hits home the severity of abuse. Gosh, Ive shivers running over my body.. the sign of a good film Lesley..

  • I think that this call must haunt that poor dispatcher - and I'm sure she's not the only one.

Thank you Tess - you are such a lovely soul. x

  • Buona fortuna con la competizione :)

Video molto professionale e molto ben fatto !

    Complimenti :)

  • Grazie Laz - non l'ho fatto proprio per un premio comunque sarrebbe bello andare a Roma o Venezia :)

  • ***** Good Luck, Lass...

  • Thanks Stu - and thank you also for your timely response - another fragment of this huge issue.

  • If you whispered your message in the dark it would be light....

  • A most important topic! Good for you for doing this and for doing it so very well! Hope your film gets chosen. It truly carries the message well.

  • Thanks Suze. It is something that impacts far too many lives. The screams of a terrified child definitely strikes a chord.

  • wow Lisa, you are so talented. I hope they pick your film!

  • Thank you. I just hope it helps someone somewhere, you know - like a tiny ripple effect. :)

  • As a survivor myself I thank you for this. If this video keeps one woman, or one child from experiencing abuse then you've already won....then we all have.

  • It's amazing how many private messages I have received from women and men I have known here on YT for a few years - all either victims of violence or had watched their own mothers being beaten when they were children. I too have been a victim and know the impact it has on your life.

Thank you and bless you for your comment XO

  • Well done hope you win.

  • thank you, I appreciate that :)

  • Oh, .. my goodness Lesley. I am crying here. I do hope this gets the recognition it deserves. Very, very well done.

    hugs, Chris

  • Thank you Chris. I have shed the same tears listening to that emergency call.

  • This makes me regret the small handful of five star ratings I gave to any of those ford fiesta videos - seriously.

Finally, a video competition that's actually WORTH something.

Excellent work and I hope you win!

  • Thanks Curt - I, too don't discriminate with my 5 stars - there are some one stars I've put out there for obvious reasons but 2-3 stars aren't in my language!

(This is one contest in which I hope to win 2nd prize - a two week internship at the Cine Citta Luce film school in Rome. :)

  • Ah, well in that case, good luck with second place!

    :-)

    GO NUMBER TWO!!

...oops, maybe I should rephrase that...

  • I didn't know whether or not I was supposed to follow your instructions! So I erred on the side of yes. LOL

  • I have no words, Les.

    xxx

  • XXX back atcha

  • Well done Lesley. It made me cry,.. hard to watch but essential.

  • Thanks Ben- tough subject that reaches far to many people in far too many places. Maybe shedding some light in the dark areas will help. :)

  • Extremely powerful. I actually had a hard time geting through this. Very well done Lesley. The editing was awesome.

  • Thanks ST - I am trying to work on my animation skills - it's very laborious (er- tedious) work and I sure do appreciate people who do it for a living!

although I have heard that recording 1000 times while editing- it still makes my heart beat and gives me goosebumps. No one should have to go through that let alone a kid. ugh.

  • Knock me over with a feather! Powerful...

  • My feather boas are in storage!

thank you - good to see you :)

  • Very uncomfortable, but essential viewing.

    Brilliant video Lesley :)

  • I know what you mean Andy, believe me - the emergency call is edited here and is even more difficult to listen to in its entirety :(

    thank you

  • I was afraid you might say that about the call. I was wondering what had happened in the end & was hoping for a, relatively, happy ending.

  • thank you

  • you're welcome X

  • Hope this goes all the way to the screening at the VIFF, Lesley. Brilliant work, as always. Gutwrenching, tender, thought provoking, emotional - it is something EVERYONE should see.

  • I did not include the whole 911 call - it is just so gut-wrenching in itself.. apparently it's a case they use to train people for emergency dispatch.

Thank you- not really in it for the prize but if it happened.....parlo Italiano correttamente!

  • Thanks Ben!

  • Comment removed

  • powerful stuff. this is one of the best things you've done....and I actually got all of it. I have to second twishes sentiments....wow! Nice job. Good luck and I hope you get your screening. Wouldn't that be the cats meow?

  • Thanks Jason. Actually the second and third place prizes appeal to me more - an internship at the cine citta luce film school in Rome :) meow!

  • Wow!

    Most excellent video

    Hope you win

    x hugs x

  • thank you :)
