@sackwhacker And you can play it perfectly can you? the fact of the matter is that if you've ever seen the sheet music it is stacatto and it is that faster, it's not up to "interpretation" he played what rachmaninoff wrote, and i'm sorry 'sackwhacker' but you sir, are not better than rach
Wow, sounds like a really old school- he arpeggiates i.e. plays the right hand later than the left, all the time! Why rushing through the chords section?
he has got a strange timing in the passage starting at 1:07. I'm not even sure if it is intended. Almost sounds like he is trying to play faster than he can. But if it is intended, well then my view of this passage is totally different.
That has to be the quickest cadenza I have ever heard. Fast is not good but most extremely difficult. Lacks meaning, depth and passion behind the powerful chords.
In otha words The way rachmaninoff intended lol I agree andre watts version is wellmannered in the way rachmaninoff suggested by comparison andre plays it with rachmaninoffs cinematics ashkanzy is very powerful and fast not so clear and very dramatic like he played 2 many chopin pieces in his life... and The shine album cadenza needs 2 be played real loud to truely hear its meaning vlc player mainly on laptop with headphones
I thought the same about Cadenza by Helfgott from The Shine, but still there are much more expressive versions of Cadenza from rach 3. My favourite one is one of Ashkenazi.

Honestly, this is one of the worst Rach 3 candenza interpretations I've ever heard
firstly, he's playing so quick that you can't 'feel' the music and secondly hes playing almost every note like a staccato
no offense though, it'll be much better if he slows down

@sackwhacker You are just jealous of this man's sparkling energy :)

I still love Kissin's performance... He may not always do too well with interpretation, but his Rach 3 is unbelievable.

yea, a tad too fast, I prefer it to have a grander sound, very spacy and open, but strong
