  • thats well good =] check this out its a vid of me jumping a 13.2 pony 4 ft 6.. type in ' saskiaa and cad jump 4 ft 6 ' or look on my account

  • is he a morgan?

i doubt it but just making sure

  • No, he's a Canadian Sport Horse (comprised of 3/4 Thoroughbred, 1/4 Holsteiner, I believe).

  • omg, the jump looks bigger than 4ft, its massive, ur horse is amazingg =D

  • how tall is that horse?

  • Rapport is 16.3 hh -- so not huge, but certainly on the larger end of the scale. Despite his size, he is one of the most gentle horses in the barn (with people) -- and absolutely loves to jump. I've sense had him over 4'-8" and I think with some conditioning, we could do 5'.

  • omg its so easy

  • pahaha, that is bs, I'm sorry. It's about build, weight, length of riders legs, torso, overall height of horse, etc...not only height. I can only laugh at this!!!

  • That is one cool dad!

  • That horse is brilliant, makes the jumps look tiny!

    well done great riding !

    x

  • Hmmmm... that would mean I would have to have a horse that is 6'0" (72 inches = 18 hands). Not many of them around unless it is a Clydesdale or Belgium -- which isn't very good for jumping! :-)

  • Why do you think he's a bit tall on him?

  • the jumps look Tiny lol !

  • It looks like he could jump 4'6" at a trot!! Nice steady horse

  • beautiful horse!!! <3 what breed is he?

  • sit back geez you can get injured and the top riders always sit back and strait not crouched forward no offence its just u can get injured if the horse wer to stop buck shy anything but u guys jump suberbly

  • how big is that horse?

  • He's 16-3 hands. We did 4'6" last summer (see response to this video) and my plan is to try 4'8" this summer. Need to get him back in jumping shape, though. If I really worked at it, I think he could do 5'0" -- but I don't know that I have the time to devote at this point.

  • wow! thats so cool I wish my horse could do that!!!!

  • Wow great horse, he is very steady.

I have to use crop and spurs so my horse won't dump me on jumps- he's had some whacky owners before me. (:

  • great horse, yet again. tehe. one thing that i noticed on your other video that i forgot to comment on is that you need to sit and drive more with your pelvis. one thing you'll notice with grandprix riders is that their but does not leave the saddle until their horse is jumping, even if their horse isn't a refuser. if you sit like this, you actually help your horse by putting his weight off of his forhand, and onto his hind which gives him better propulsion to jump better and higher.

  • He jumps nicely! Could easily make it to 4'6. =]

  • Gorgeous horse, nice job!

  • wow dat doesnt look 4ft4 if u wud av held the camera up more then it wudda!:)

  • ya it does :P

  • that chestnut is very handsome/pretty

  • Thanks. 'Handsome' would be appropriate. :-) He's my pal. A bit lame lately -- pulled a tendon in a paddock whilst playing with his buddies. But he's on the mend. No jumping for a couple of months, though, which sucks since I like to jump in the arena during the winter months. Oh, well -- better to keep him healthy for the long term. Thanks for the comment!

  • Nice jumping.

  • Very nice calm jumper! I really like how the horse was always praised right away, it is really nice to see!

  • i want Rapport.

ohmigoodness. i miss riding o so much.

that horse would most definately make me start again! forget what the dr's say!!!

  • any chance you'd like to clone him and lend him to me? im in need of a junior jumper...haha

  • Hmmmm... he's a gelding so the 'old fashioned' way of cloning won't work. But my oldest daughter wants to go to university to study genetics so, hey, you never know! :-)

  • he rly LOVES to jump

  • Woo-hoo! We did it at 4'-6" this weekend. Go to the following YouTube URL to see it:

    youtube{DOT}com/watch?v=VNoS1Km7gMY

    Rapport is a star!!!

  • he is so handsome!! good job =)

  • All of the mares in the barn like to nuzzle up to him and squeal. As a gelding, though, he has no clue what all the fuss is about! :-)

  • hahaha my horse is the same!! i love geldings =)

  • i love how nice and relaxed he is cantering away from such a big jump haha. My horse loves to run run run, its definetly a change seeing such a calm and steady horse =]great job!! [ highest i've gone is 3' 6'' with him, ahaha almost a foot smaller xD ]

  • At 16-3 hands, he has the height to do higher that 4'6 -- but that would require much more training than we have time for. So, we'll work his/our strength and confidence up to 4'6 and then we'll see. Believe me, I didn't start off doing 4' fences. I've been riding now for about 35 years, and had my share of ponies/horses that would try to toss me into fences. I definitely learned to do things one step at a time! 3'6 is an excellent height, too!

  • wow he just floated over the jump like nothing! good job!

  • What an amazing horse! The way you always say good boy, shows that you have alot of confidence and trust your horse tons. You can tell he really trust and loves you too seeing him jumping that!

  • He definitely loves to jump! As soon as we start going towards a fence, his energy and momentum pick right up. We've since done 4'5". I'm expecting we'll do 4'6" before the end of the summer and I'll try to get it on video when we do. Stay tuned!

  • great jumping. and it's great to see someone who really loves his horse. so many riders now like to ride but don't adore their horses. it looks like you really love Rapport.

  • I LOVE how the rider said "good boy good boy" we need more riders to doing that!!

  • beautiful horse!

  • Thanks. He's my pal!

  • he is gorgeous. i am probably not one to give advise but i think that is would ride smoother if he doesnt cock his head to the outside and dont let him drift to the right... absolutley gorgeous horse though.

  • Good point. Sometimes easier said than done, though. I generally work to get his head a bit to the inside -- looking at the jump early -- but hes seems perpetually interested in the 'scary stuff' at the outside ends of the arena. Thanks for the comment, though. I'll keep working away at it!

  • wow nice job

  • whoooo hoo!

  • well done!

  • Congrats! I like your attitude on jumping as well. Too many people push themselves and their horse too hard. I'm glad you are taking the time to let you and your horse get comfortable and confident. Great job!

  • It looks good! Too bad the arena was so dark!

  • Agreed. This is our first time trying videoing at night. It was certainly bright enough for riding, but the camera didn't react well to the change in lighting at various parts of the arena. Anyhow, next time we'll try to do it during the day in which case lighting won't be a problem. When we hit 4'5", we'll do another post!
