Funny thing, I was at Wild Rivers waiting in line for a water slide. Then I overheard the ppl next to me. One of the men said he was part of the company that programmed this wall of water projection on the Pirates Ride.

the original design for davy jones was gonna be a skull with a bone beard and just a little flesh

Whyd they bother adding that and Jack Sparrow? The ride was fine as is without them.

And why did they remove some of the other elements, such as the pirates chasing women? Are they trying to be politically correct? Historically REAL pirates did those sort of things.

@SamuraiYattaro They added the Jack and Dave to stay relevant to guests today kids who see the movies before riding the ride would be upset if their favourite characters were absent and yes the ride was fine without them but thankfully the addition of them did not change the experience all that much so its fine with them too. As for the removal of the Pirates chasing the women eventually they had enough complaints to just change it it eventually gets to the point where it just isn't worth it...

Wow. I didn't realize that it wasn't actualy water until I read the comments down here. I'm really getting the urge to visit Disneyland again. Our last visit was when I was in about 2nd or 3rd grade, and it wasn't very fun. I thikn a trip now would be more enjoyable.

i wish they added a davy jones audio animatronic! that would be awesome! but...he doesn't fit anywhere...unless they add the flying dutchman next to Barbosa's ship and then it would fit!

nah, an animatronic would be cool but the fog effect works best for Davy Jones. gives you that "Spirit of the seas" feel and that he's sending you through time to see the pirates.

Here here. One of Disney's landmark villains since Davy Jones is the first time they used the same type of technology and process that was used for Gollum in Lord Of The Rings.

That water effect is awsome... It looks like real water but you don't get wet!!

You think you're going to get wet.. Everytime I go on the ride, there are a few people in the boat in front of us that put their hands up in response to the waterfall..whether to feel the water or keep themselves from getting wet. You don't feel anything going thru it. It's amazing!!

the effect is create with basic fog and a water fall and davey jones being projected from behind the fog. the effect is so simple but so freakin awesome!!!

Think so too eh? Actually, I was browsing the internet and a'lot of people are pulling for Davy Jones to be in the next KH game. Davy Jones is now my #1 pick to be a Disney villain in KH along with Merlock, the Horned King, Syndrome, Judge Claude Frollo, Zira, and John Silver.
