Wow, i nearly cried. It took me so long to find this song and mainly because of the title. I just happened to accidently click on it after listening to Africa Bambaataa and i went completely beserk LOL. You made a person of the electric boogie era very happy. Thanks for posting.
Ahhh!!...Breakdancing, windmills, name buckles, suede Pumas with phat laces, the origin of the 40 oz. & more weed in one weekend than you could shake a stick at. Memories of yesteryear.
This song ,along with Newcleus's Computer age(Push the button) and Man Parish's Hip Hop (Be Bop-Don't stop) and also Kraftwerks 'Tour De France' are In My Opinion the greatest tracks ever produced for any respectable body popper out there to do battle.
Man i still got skinned up knuckles and elbows trying to master moves to this beat. My man had a box with a turntable that flipped out, i remember we would just walk around and blast this all day. Joint looked like a Skilsaw as it rotated.
Bought this 12" single on a trip to Washington, DC when I was a junior in high school! WOW! LOVED it when I heard it in the music store when I heard it for the first time and bought it IMMEDIATELY. Only have heard it on the radio a couple of times, but it's mostly used as a house music mixer nowadays...WOW!
Ive been looking for this song for years. I just remember "It's Time" This Jam is so hot I got a fever listenig to it!!! Super Tight - Top Ten of all time computer jams!!!!
Let me ask you all something...why is it that TODAY 2011 no one comes up with REAL sounds like this? I have an answer....Everything is controlled by the Zionist now in days. Wether is direct or indirect through a Business, Education, Media, etc...no ones wants to be original anymore, everyone just wants to fit in with the Zionist standads! .....wake up people!
This song in 83 - 84, was all over Philly! Brings me back to my B-boy graffiti days. Much respect to DJ Spinbad, DJ Cash Money, DJ Kid Destory, DJ Lightning Ritch, DJ Comsic Kev, Plateau and the After Midnight. Good times...
This takes me real back - me and my mate just listened through this way back in 85-86 when we first found Electro, and played it again, and again. This must have been the first electro instrumental music that just made us stop and listen, and it was awesome then, and still is now.
@kirkstate Sorry to burst your bubble mate, but as an avid Dubstep fan I can tell you that this is not Dubstep's "great grandfather". In fact, UK and 2-step Garage is it's influence and it also draws it's influences from the likes of Jungle, Drum and Bass and of course Dub. Artists that would make this example would be El B, Steve Gurley and Horsepower Productions.
@videovader Ahh but Electro (early 80s) is what lead into D&B (late 80s), thus putting this as one of the foremost runners of any synthesized music. This lead into two-step over in the UK. Dub was an additional influence that came down it's own path, probably from Reggae or similar Caribbean music. When the two met Dubstep was born. I will say you do know your music but you just didn't take it back far enough to see that this was the first origins of one of it's lines.
See you at the 'Street Sounds UK Fresh Reunion' at Scala, London, 16th July where Electro Legends Captain Rock, Newcleus, The Boys & Grandmixer DST & more will be performing live! Plus Bboying & Graffiti.
Thanks for posting this on here. I was just transfered to I.S. 74 from I.S. 52 when this came out during mid winter 1984. A lotta pop lockers went off to this shit non stop and and so forth. Lol.
