Is the audio not working right on this video for anyone else, or is it just my computer? It'll work for a bit and then fade off to silence and then come back intermittently.
@HelpingHandHangers What prevents the piece of cartilage from getting crinkly during tanning? When you tan a fox hide, for example, with the cartilege left in, the ears come out crinkled. Trying to understand reasons for doing each step so I can do it right!
These videos are great! I have been in business for 2 years now and am still learning! there were several things that I will try, looks so much easier and quicker than the way I have been doing things! Thanks for taking the time to share!
You're welcome! Also, all videos are on our main site. There is also a forum now - which we do respond to daily. Sorry for all of those who haven't gotten responses on YouTube... it's a lot of work!
@HelpingHandHangers I'm 17 and i've been doing this for about two years now and i've always had trouble with the ears. this really helped alot. thanks for posting
so this is pre salting? I'm new to this. Have skinned and tanned two bobcats, your vids are so informational.I just bought me a beam, fleshing knife, skinner, and scraper. where can I get a horn like the one you use? and the blade holder? Realy could use some advice. Can I apply the same techniques you are doing to coyote pelts? the ears? I just left that cartilage in! Did'nt know better.
I got my first buck and will be doing this myself. Where is a good place to get the ear turner tool? Love the video thanks.

I'm puzzled about one aspect. Why did you not cut the cartilage away totally? Why leave it attached to the edges of the ear?

@FilmerOfBobcats i've put foil around the ears in the actual shape of the ear and leave it on there till it dries. they don't crinkle that way

How come you don't remove all the cartilage from the ear? I thought we were supposed to get rid of all of it. I'm confused!
