  • Use black cloth.

  • it works i had da best dinner mann fankzzz ;)

  • i think you need to use a black plate instead of a white one.

  • i would like to try it as my school book instructed solar cooker is costing in alot to make as it need glass and bla bla bla but this is good it will surely tryy this!

  • wow in oklahoma its like 105 degrees farenheit so mine should work well

  • or for a non toxic interior like you said, i recommend just some black construction paper. :) you're welcome!! :D

  • "Painted black on the inside - not recommended, coz black paint may be toxic - I don't really care" LOL :)

  • If the black paint is a water based and thoroughly dried then toxic offgassing shouldn't be an issue, just don't eat the peelings.(if the fall in of course, not assuming they'd just start looking tasty for some reason) - or you could pay more and get the black BBQ paint.

  • Your nachos need more cheese :) COOL idea on the style and the materials. I am inspired to try that style, seems it would tranpost easier than my CooKit...

    thanks!

  • @geniusinexile lol give the guy a break, he can put any amount of cheese he wants. After all its his cheese Nacho Cheese.

  • WOW. this was really good xD i had to do an science project where we mad solar cookers and this helped alot. thanks bro

  • i have one question about solar oven if light comes through plactic wrap then y cant it escape back

  • @baeronautics the black paint absorbs the lights and creates heat

  • @baeronautics the 'light' (which is energy) can escape back, and does. it's just that it can't escape as fast as new energy is absorbed, due to the insulation.

  • When you add more isolation and a tempered glass cover, in combination with some additional mirrors, the temperature will increase enormously.

I've recently made a solar oven 30*30*30 cm, made use of numorous layers of cardboard as isolation and the cover is a (too thin...will be changed soon) tempered glass top.

On the sides I added some mirrors and the result is a powerful solar oven.

As mentioned before my first model was also a shoe-box.

    Regards from Mexico

  • @321ozzy

Just read your own comment regarding the glass cover : - )

  • wut is the thing beside the plate ? wut it matter if the foil thing was at a different tilt? like.. its like 70 degrees?

  • Looks like a good idea and perhaps put a clear coat of some sort on the black to keep it in place. (They also have heat paint, but is it toxic?)

  • Pretty cool...hot really! I've made a shoebox solar oven and haven't been able to test it. It's rainy season here in Thailand, but I'm sure it will work really well on a clear day.

  • If you put the plate in a plastic oven-bag, the toxic gases from the paint will not "flavour" your dish. What's more the temperature inside the oven bag can be higher than the temp you reach right now.

I have a similar design, so I'll try it out too.

  • " May be toxic, I don't really care" I dig your style!

  • wow 320 degrees? thats crazy lol

  • my bro's made one it got to 320 degrees in 1 hour

  • it took about 10 minutes. it was noon and 90 degrees out. if you use plexiglas or a double pane window the box will get much hotter. i used plastic wrap

  • Could you send me a detailed explanation on how to make it?

  • it is a shoe box with the outside surfaces lined with rolled up newspaper that is tape on. The inside was painted black. the opening is covered with platic wrap and the lide has some aluminum foil taped to it for extra sunlight(which was not really worth it)

  • Wouldn't it be better to line the inside with a white paint or aluminum foil so less heat is absorbed by the box?

  • Your thinking of an array of mirrors. If all of the sunlight was concentrated on the food then you could cook it. but this is an oven. the hotter the inside of the box the better. Have you ever sat inside a black interior car? It gets really hot very quickly.

  • @rch701 i need to make one of these to melt a lil piece of chocolate, sounds simple enough, but should i be trying to make an oven or cooker? hopefully you answer back quickly...

  • i mean 215 degreese

  • i have a project for school how long does it take to heat up to 2150 degrees?
