I use a Dremel grinding tool to remove "In God We Trust" from every coin that passes through my hands. I cross out that ridiculous and untrue phrase on bills, too.
@ndrthrdr1 There's a stamp you can buy that will do that while also stamping an explanation of why the phrase is unconstitutional onto any bill you want.
Uh, where would these guys be without our country being founded on biblical principals? Lets see them speak freely like this in other countries, see where they end up. Atheists are only fighting against themselves. When it comes down to it they have the same values and morals as christians because it has been in-graved during their upbringing. People aren't just moral and caring on their own accord. The world is a nasty place without the safety of morals and values that are given by christianity
@Guyll21 Another stupid theist. And the reason why they're speaking is to make sure that USA stays a press where an atheist can be open about it without fear of official punishment.
@1Lanavis1 Calling me stupid? I can feel the tolerance! When have you been punished for your believes? I know why they're speaking and if you listen they are also defending christianity's and other institutions right to free press. I'm just saying that they are not seeing the whole picture.
@Akira625 Slavery? I'm not sure what you mean exactly but....I'm pretty sure christianity does not endorse slavery. Sure it's in the bible but it's looked upon as a sin. Now if you're referring to someone being "bonded" in biblical scripture I hope you know that that is not slavery. Rather a contract in witch both parties agree to a set amount of duties in return for food, shelter, etc..
@Guyll21 I apologize for the stupid comment. It's inexcusable. However, I have been punished for my disbelief by the treatment I'm supposed to tolerate as an atheist. For the slavery as a contract, that only included Jews. Non-jews could be lifelong slaves transferred liked property to their children.
@Guyll21 Can you please poitnt to the verse where it says slavery is a sin? YOu can play semantics with the difference between a bondsman and a slave if you like however the bondsman argument only applies to Hebrew slaves owned by Hebrews. Those verses do not apply to non-Hebrew slaves. They were slaves for life and could passed to the next generation as property.
@MsPhoneMonkey I'm not going to pilfer through scripture to find examples of anti-slavery sentiments but I assure you there are. Just because they, JC & disciples, could not do anything about people owning slaves does not mean they favored or endorsed slavery in any way. Rather, they told the slaves to seek freedom at any opportunity given them.
@YY4Me133 I don't think you're seeing the picture here. You can't call a servant, a "slave", especially in ancient times. Big difference. Servitude was a way of life back then, where the servants were provided for by their masters in return for services. It would be like a rich man saying his maid is a servant, which technically they are.
@Guyll21 I think you're in denial. According to the christian bible, "servants" could be bought and sold, beaten almost to death, and passed on to the owner's heirs. They were slaves, possessions, property. A rich man today cannot buy, beat, sell or bequeath a maid.
You wrote: "...they told the slaves to seek freedom at any opportunity given them." 1 Peter 2:18 says otherwise. Can you provide a passage that backs up what you wrote?
@YY4Me133 (1 Corinthians 7:21) "Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so." (Exodus 21:16) “Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death.” Biblical "slavery" was not the same as the slavery like the blacks endured. People went willingly into slavery or SERVITUDE. Besides, Christ didn't come to change the world but change our souls.
@Guyll21 The following sure sounds like slavery to me...
Ex. 21:20 "And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished." 21:21 "Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money."
Also, Lev. 25:44-46 uses the words "slaves" and "property."
There is no evidence for a historical Jesus, and there is no evidence for the existence of "souls."
@YY4Me133 You're kidding right? I really hope you're not saying just because there was slavery in biblical times and there obviously wasn't anything anyone could do about, and they were just dealing with what they knew at the time, that the bible condones slavery in the terms that you think it does? Uh, there is historical evidence of Christ. The soul...Just because you can't sense radio waves does that mean they don't exist?
@Guyll21 It's not that slavery existed, it's that the god of the bible condoned it. The bible god told people to stone to death disobedient children, people who picked up sticks on the sabbath, etc., but instead of telling people it's not okay to own other humans, it gave them rules for doing so.
If you have evidence for a historical Jesus, please present it. Radio waves can be detected and measured. There is no evidence for "souls." If you have any, please present it.
@YY4Me133 He did not condone it. They were servants, that most of the time put themselves up for purchase of their services. The Hebrew word for servant is the same as slave but they're not mutually exclusive. Google "evidence of jesus". So just because we don't have the technology to sense souls they don't exist? That does not make sense. I wonder what George Washington would of thought if you told him about radio waves?
@Guyll21 A person named jesus christ may have existed & may have been crucified. There isn't any evidence to support the claim that he is a god or the son of a god. There isn't any evidence too support the claim that his mother (Mary) was impregnated thru immaculate conception. There isn't any evidence to support your claim that souls exist. STOP preaching !
@tranquility4all Who's to say that we won't have the tech to sense souls through a machine? Before basic transmitters and receivers were invented, telling someone that invisible waves of energy existed would've sounded just as fantastical as saying souls exist.
@Guyll21 Please correct me if I'm wrong. Since People's existence We have evidence of Energy. Examples include Water Current & Sunlight. However We don't have any evidence for the existence of souls. The claim for the existence of souls will either be accepted, challenged or rejected. However, claims for the existence of souls ( & a god or gods ) still haven't been supported with any evidence.
@tranquility4all No shit? You're missing the point; which is, that there are things that exist that we do not have the capability to sense. The same thing could've been said about radio waves before we had the ability to even know they existed. All atheists want is to paint a very bleak picture of human existence. It's really sad the way you people go out of your way to prove a moot point.
@Guyll21 All atheists want to paint a very bleak picture of Human Existence ? Did You question EVERY atheist ? You're revealing Your contempt of People who don't agree with Your beliefs. It's true they're many things which haven't been discovered. You're missing my Pt. It's foolish to ASSume something exists when there isn't any evidence to support its' existence. It's also STUPID for You to ASSume what I consider myself to be. I don't claim to have solid knowledge of all life's intricacies.
@tranquility4all For what it's worth, I have not met an atheist yet that is not as I described. Faith means absolutely nothing to you. The sad thing is that atheists eventually stop believing in anything...love, happiness, contentment, etc.
@Guyll21 You probably met very few atheists. Faith is nothing more than Your excuse to believe something without EVIDENCE. Your ASSertion that Atheists stop believing in anything is LUDICROUIS & confirms Your bigotry towards People who don't share Your views. It's RATIONAL to question or reject claims which aren't supported with evidence & to require Evidence before accepting/ believing claims. Are You so naive to believe faith is more relevant than Evidence ?
@Guyll21 For You to suggest Atheists don't believe in anything & are not capable of experiencing Love, Contentment & Happiness etc. further confirms You're an Irrational Extremist theist who rushes to judge & condemn People who don't share Your views. Get of Your moral high horse You sanctimonious Extremist !
@Guyll21 Many Atheists are good moral people who love other people, raise families & contribute to society. NEWS FLASH You don't need religion, faith or belief in a god to be moral & to experience Love, Happiness, Contentment etc. Many theists are good people. Many are immoral who think just because they worship some deity they are morally superiors to other People who worship a different god/ gods or People who don't worship a god.
@Guyll21 Many theists also believe so long as they worship their god they will be saved regardless of all horrific acts they commit. Ask Yourself this Question. Which of these People is Moral. A person who lives an exemplary life & doesn't believe a god exists OR A person who believes a god exists & continually continually commits horrific acts but goes to confession regularly to ask forgiveness ?
@tranquility4all It's funny to see you get defensive and annoyed when confronted with truths that you deny on a daily basis. The inner turmoil of your questioning of God, faith, humanity's purpose, is blatantly obvious. You last idealistic conjectural situation has an obvious answer....anyone with common sense knows the answer....except, I have a hard time believing you do.
@Guyll21 What truths have You presented ? You believe a god exists. However You can't present evidence to support Your belief. I question any claim which isn't supposed with evidence. Unlike You who accepts any claim because it makes you feel good. The only thing blatantly obvious is You're an irrational christian fundamentalist who is either too lazy or unable to engage in CRITICAL THINKING ! Your inability to form a Rational Argument or answer any Question reveals You're NOT a RATIONAL Person.
@Guyll21 You still haven't answers any questions. I'll give You another chance. Do You believe faith is more relevant than Evidence to support claims ? Get off Your moral high horse & stop preaching. Try answering a Direct Question. Your refusal to answer Direct Questions confirms You're the one who is getting defensive.
@Guyll21 The only thing that annoys me is your continual condemnation & bigotry towards People who don't share Your views. Combined with your Asinine blanket indictment that all atheists are incapable of experiencing love, happiness, contentment etc.
If hatred & bigotry are nutritional, You will live a long life.
Your abundance of IGNORANCE complements Your excess of STUPIDITY !
@tranquility4all Look back your comments and tell me who looks the extremist. I could rebut everyone of your arguments with valid points, but frankly, I have a life and could care less what you think merits irrefutable evidence. Someone else telling you what is evidence and what is not is absolutely nonsensical. Evidence of what we know is continually changing, along with the interpretation. What is absolute today becomes de minimis tomorrow. ;)
@Guyll21 You could rebut everything I've said ? Try supporting What You ASSert with EVIDENCE. Begin by supporting Your ASSertion that Atheists don't believe anything & aren't capable of feeling Love & Happiness etc. Then present EVIDENCE to support the existence of a god. Evidence doesn't change. More evidence is discovered & hopefully it increases Our understanding. Unfortunately You can't present ANY evidence to support any of Your Asinine ASSertions & ASSumptions.
@Guyll21 The only claim I made was Evidence is more relevant than faith. Try presenting a RATIONAL ARGUMENT that faith is more relevant than Evidence to support claims. You need to learn How to engage in Critical Thinking. Begin by Questioning claims instead of believing them without evidence. Learn How to form RATIONAL ARGUMENTS supported with Evidence. STOP making Asinine blanket indictments (All Atheists are incapable of experiencing Love) of all People who don't agree with Your beliefs.
@tranquility4all Whoa, talk about an arbitrary claim! Evidence vs. Faith is actually the most extraneous proofing there could possibly be. Absolutely irrelevant when trying to prove your views against theirs. I have evidence of God, but obviously you wouldn't call it evidence compared to your evidence. Your argument has to have some correlation.
@Guyll21Faith isn't evidence nor is it proof . Faith is Your excuse to believe something without evidence. Don't tell me You have evidence to support the existence of a god. PRESENT IT ! My Argument is valid. I'm claiming Evidence is more relevant than faith to support claims. I asked You several times to present evidence to support the existence of a god. You haven't. I also asked You to support Your ridiculous ASSertion that Atheists can't experience Love & Happiness. You haven't.
@Guyll21 All You've done is make claims & failed to present any evidence to support them. You have to present some evidence to support Your arguments If You want People to take You seriously. Here's Your opportunity. Either present evidence to support Your ASSertions & ASSumptions or SHUT UP & GO AWAY !
@Guyll21 Here's something I suggest You do before presenting evidence to support the existence of a god. DEFINE Your god in specific terms. Then present evidence to support its' existence. Then present evidence to support Your Asinine ASSertion that Atheists don't believe anything & aren't capable of experiencing Love, Happiness & Contentment. You've made 2 extraordinary claims. Now it's time for You to try to support them with EVIDENCE.
@Guyll21 ive just looked back at the this persons comments and yours as weel- honest opinion? youre the extremist- i also found most of your comments absurd, ignorant and quite offensive. i really must agree with tranquility4all- you are not rational- you say you could rebut then give an excuse not to-sounds to me like you couldnt.
please do not attempt to engage with me I have no wish to go through a vain attempt at reasoning with a fool who thinks theyre intelligent and knows everything
@tranquility4all Ever consider the possibility that they do? Just because it hasn't been explained on the Discovery Channel people can't grasp it. Let me guess....You consider yourself enlightened new age individual with solid knowledge of life and all its intricacies, right...
However You claim to have a solid understanding supporting the existence of souls & a god. Unfortunately You can't present ANY evidence to support these beliefs. Before You make anymore unsupported ASSertions about the existence of souls & gods or make any unsupported ASSumptions about me. I suggest You do some research, Learn How to ask questions & Critically examine claims before rushing to unsupported conclusions.
@Guyll21 The U.S. was founded on the ideas of the Enlightenment and English common law, not christianity. Christianity didn't give us morals, it took credit for already existing morals, not all of them considered moral by today's standards.
Luke 19:27 "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."
We have "In God We Trust" because some christian politicians put their religion before their country, their personal agenda before their oath of office. The original national motto was "E Pluribus Unum."
@Guyll21 You wonder why we have "IN GOD WE TRUST" That's really easy to look up, Christian groups like the Knights of Columbus petitioned congress to change our national motto from E Pluribus Unum (From many, One) to in God we trust in 1956. We started out as a country with religious freedom; I don't understand why some Christians feel the need to push their religion, and only their religion into our government?
It's a mistake to think of the Dark Ages as a time of fundamentalism. The time of fundamentalism came after, and purposefully destroyed artifacts of the Dark Ages. In a case of strange bedfellows, Protestants wanted to claim Catholicism had destroyed humanity, and Catholics wanted to claim Italy was fuckin' awesome, so it was in both their interests to destroy as much from 400-1000 as possible.
Mankind is due for moving to a higher consciousness plane. The same way the suffering of gazelles killed by lions make the species stronger, the suffering of mankind will help us move to the next consciousness level. A greater good comes for the species. The next level is the rejection of greed, materialism and selfishness. Our current capitalist system need to collapse in order to achieve this. If you're not ready spiritually, and doesn't move up, you'll suffer. This is happening now, seek God.
Unless that evidence is something that can be examined and proved by science, or any of these things that actually prove that god exist without any reasonable doubt you might want to put it more like “ Steve Quayle: A different opinion.” Until God can come close to the evidence evolution has on it’s own, not just saying “evolution is because of god” when jumping ships, he hasn’t done shit to shame any but Christianity again. THINGS EXISTING ARN'T EVEDENCE OF GOD! SIMPLE WORDS AREN’T EVIDENCE!
Theocracy IS their goal, NEVER Forget that. And if some retarded Americans WANT to live in fucking IRAN, they should just move to Iran instead of trying to turn the US into Iran.
Fuck you religious morons, fuck you all in the ass with a giant rubber dick.
Actually for the Americans a bit of the Dark Ages would not be to bad. First of all the Dark Ages was not that dark as it is claimed, and during that time most of the time the (Catholic) Church was in opposition toward the states (Kings) or vice versa.
Also the heresies was numerous, people was free to move between different countries in a way they are not now and Islam was still in Europe and was at it's peek as an intellectual culture.
@LeviathanZr6 It would be much simpler to terraform it send the creationists there to use their knowledge of science to create a world of their dreams. IE. like the bronze age or dark age.
There's plenty of bigot atheists too. What happens if some of them get their way and churches are shut down? What if they take it a step further and outlaw religious practices? Then jail religious followers? Execute them? I've been seeing a lot of atheists lately (not these guys) that make statements in such poor taste that such a world seems possible in a distant future.
Those are not atheists, they are anti-theists and even then only a small percentage of anti-theists. They are also atheist but they are such a small percentage that your argument is fucking ridiculous.
Remember, in US about 40% believe the bible should be taught. That is dangerous.
It wont happen because the firsammenment t only demds seation between church and state but it protects you asshats as well if you ever paid attention when they taught the constitution in school.
@NUTCASE71733 Did you pay attention when they taught spelling? It's really hard to understand what you're saying. The first amendment is freedom of speech, and is still susceptible to limitations by the clear and present danger clause. If atheists convince lawmakers that practicing religion is harmful to society, laws that limit religious practice could one day be seen. Not that it's going to happen any time soon. And if the 2nd amendment is any indication, they don't matter.
@JasonHouston77 Most people identify themselves as 'atheists' for lack of a better word. Our real goal is to advance reason and rational conversation, and oppose ideology. Religion is based on ideology. If a community develops that does not believe in "god", but has other ideological views on running society, today's 'atheists' would oppose that too. A society is based on reason and rational conversation will never persecute any section of the population based on the ideology of other sections.
@JasonHouston77 Well, the church incarcerated, tortured and killed in the name of god, so it wouldn't be bad to give religious people the same medicine for once.
@JasonHouston77 Your were bigot first, and all the power your religion has now is because of that same reason. Don't turn tables and don't call yourself a victim.
@Fangalatic Who am I a bigot towards? How am I turning tables? My "religion" wasn't even around then. I wasn't calling myself a victim. I was saying some atheists are bigots, some aren't. Same with religion. You're a bigot, greenjelly is not. And how do two wrongs make a right?
@JasonHousto77 No one is going to execute now anybody for their beliefs. Well, except if you are a god or a server, in which case is mandatory to kill, rape and slave. Its a fact that if we go towards a much more religion-free society, keeping religion out of public life, you and the ones of your herd will start bitchin' and moaning and screaming about prosecution in such bad taste as that post above. And I find that quite disturbing since you and your sect have always been the tyrants.
@Fangalatic You are ignorant. First, of my religious beliefs. I have no church. And no one in my "religion" kills in the name of it. Second, you're ignorant of modern day religion. While horrific acts are still committed out of ignorance in third world countries, religious people in general consider it unacceptable to kill and rape. And I don't believe anything I've said has been in bad taste. But throwing insults and making blanketed statements is bad taste imo.
@JasonHouston77 This country, The USA has killed more people in unjustified wars, ethnic aggression, and genocide in the last 400+ years than any other country, Germany included. Yet this is a "Christian" country? No, it is not third world countries that make me shudder. It's the well meaning average American who waves his flag, and shouts go team!
@beastshawnee That's a different argument. If someone stoned a girl to death for having premarital sex, or beat a child to death because a "prophet" said that child was a witch in the US, they would spend the rest of their life in jail. But those kinds of things happen in poorer countries. But even though horrible things like that still happen, most religious people don't agree with it. "Killing in the name of God" is becoming a thing of the past.
@JasonHouston77 jason- I've got to respectfully disagree with you again here. Do you not realize all the propaganda against "Radical Muslims" is American Christians excuse to go to war? This is a holy war, make no mistake. And a racist war, also. Take a look at a map of all the bombings America has done around the world. We bomb brown people. Every time. It's ridiculous.
@beastshawnee I don't agree with your previous post about Americans killing more than 50 million people (Germany) or 80 million people (Russia) in one war. And I don't agree that getting rid of religion is the answer, especially when Stalin (again, 80 million people) was atheist. And your last post sounds like conspiracy theory to me, especially when you consider that we're taking Muslims' sides against other Muslims. I think it's money, not religion.
@gleehmee no one was ever bombed by me or anyone in my family-ever. I'm part british, but only a bit. from 300 yrs ago. mainly i'm an all american mutt, native amerindian, irish, german. swedish too. what war mongers do is contrary to the pacifists in my family,
@JasonHouston77 Don't call me ignorant. I know what I am talking about. Tell me who your god is and I will show you. who is the ignorant and the hypocrite.
@hempartist420 they'll be looking at everything we're doing now from a social economic and political standpoint that includes both the left and right. Neither mindset is actually progressive in terms of wanting to better the lives of humanity.
Do they mean the return of killing and mass murder and people dying of curable diseases every 15seconds in a world of plenty; where the vast majority of religious leaders speak out against war and poverty but the politicians and the people ignore them by and large..is this what we mean by the dark ages?
THERE IS NO DOMINION. for f sake, stop pretending that moneys with the printed word God in it is even remotely serious. If it was dominion that physics would be killed, gays would be killed, everyone would HAVE to be a christians, muslims would be allowed to build temples, etc.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Is this a comedy? Are these people supposed to be funny? Certainly they can't be serious. Certainly they can't be this stupid. The more I listen, the more I'm shaking my head in disbelief. These people are living in a delusion. I suppose this is the typical atheist mindset. They just look to their leader for information, and don't even take an honest look at the history of Christianity. They are not able to see the fallacy of their own position.
@YHWHisSovereign You do realize that most of the hosts are former christians, and the man on the right of the screen was a southern baptist for 25 years who was going to become a preacher, don't you? If anybody knows the history of christianity, it's Matt Dillahunty.
How are they living in a delusion, when you're the one who believes in an invisible man, who sacrificed himself, to himself, in order to save mankind from sin that he created and allowed?
@YHWHisSovereign They look to no leader, they look to evidence. Of which, the christian position has ZERO. A scientific, agnostic atheist viewpoint is based on reality ... period. Yours ... ISN'T!
@YHWHisSovereign Atheists don't have a leader nor do need one.Athiests have Critical Thinking and Logic on thier side, hence the term Free Thinker. As opposed to the Theist who is NOT a free thinker and MUST be told what, how and who to Believe in and have Multiple Leaders ie;Preacher,a 2000yr old fairy tale book that U are NOT allowed to Question but follow in Blind Obedience.Atheists are NOT under the Delusion that Donkeys Talk and Unicorns existed. The history of Christianity is full of DEATH.
@Urfullobull Define free thinker. What does that term have to do with critical thinking and logic? Do you believe in the laws of logic? When did the laws of logic come into existence? Can they change?
So you don't believe in anyone? If you do, then who told you to believe in them? How is it that a Christian has to be told who to believe in, but an atheist don't? Can you support this claim?
@YHWHisSovereign That's a pretty slick underhanded tactic there asking that many questions in 1 post knowing that it may take a whole post or more to answer each question. (Why do U guys do that?)" How is it that a Christian has to be told who to believe in and an Atheist doesn't?" LMAO,Ur kidding right? Watch me support that claim with 1 sentance; "Believe Jesus died on the cross for Ur sins and repent or go to Hell." Not only are U told what to believe but are forced under penalty of HELL.
@Urfullobull Who was it that had to tell me to believe in Jesus? I don't recall anyone who had to tell me. Some wanted to tell me because they knew that to be the truth. No one is forcing me to believe. Just like if someone held a gun to my head and told me to renounce Jesus, I could refuse. Who told you not to believe in God? Certainly, someone had to influence you. But yet, according to you, someone had to tell me to believe in God, but no one had to tell you not to believe in God? Absurd!
@YHWHisSovereign Are U 12?Or do U think Ur argueing with a 12 yr old.U know good and well someone told U about God and the rule(s) for that Belief system.Wheather someone"had"to tell U is irrelevant. Now that U believe U also have the added(forced)incentive to continue to believe under the Penalty of HELL.Yep, U are most certainly right,no one had to tell me to not Believe, and I already stopped believing long before U-Tube.I've been an Atheist for aprox 25yrs and came to the decision on my own.
@Urfullobull You said, "As opposed to the Theist who is NOT a free thinker and MUST be told what, how and who to Believe in..." Then you say, "Wheather someone"had"to tell U is irrelevant."
If someone MUST tell me what to believe in, how is it that it is irrevelant that someone "had" to tell me? Like most atheists, you do a good job contradicting yourself. But then the foundation for atheism is self-refuting.
@YHWHisSovereign Thank U for a prime example of not being able to think for Urself or the ability to use Logic. The key word is "HAD". No 1 "had" to tell U or was physicaly forced to tell U. U didn't have to Believe either. But once U DO BELIEVE what the Bible says then U MUST Believe it, (if U don't U are traitor to God and will be sent to HELL for non-belief.<-----hence the "now being told what and how to believe.") Like most Theists U do a great job of NOT Thinking. Theism is self-delusion.
@Urfullobull Trying to avoid your contradictory statement I see. Let's look at the major assumption that atheists make, namely that all knowledge is obtained through empiricism, or science which uses empiricism. If this is true, then science must validate science. This is self-refuting. Or, the truth of empiricism must be empirically observed. Also self-refuting. There is also a severe problem with where energy came from. No matter how you explain it, it be in conflict with the laws of science.
I'm not trying to avoid anything I said.U were obvioiusly not sharp enough to understand what I said and it had to be broken down even further so that U might understand what was said and now U want to skip it and ignore what I said and play the deflection game and move elsewhere.Common deceptive Christian Tactic. Well any way Good Luck with Believing in Talking Donkeys and Unicorns and all the other Superstisious Supernatural Garbage in that Book of Mythology U hold so dear.
-mountains of confirmed predictions validate science - if predictions made with a certain method are confirmed repeatedly, this method seems valid. (Wanna debate that? You can say that methods which produce inacurate predictions, are more reliable, and those that hit the mark, are less so.)
-reliably working technology based on those confirmed predictions validate science - if you can build tools using the knowledge...
... acquired by science, that knowledge must've been good for something (=everything). Wanna debate that, too?
What you brought up is a false problem. Science isn't based on some unvalidated axiom that "science is the way", it's based on the observation that the methods used in it produce the most reliable, consistent results.
Deviating from the scientific method (removing the need for predictions; removing the need for constant peer review and falsification; removing...
... the standards of accuracy when determining whether the predictions were true; re-introducing confirmation bias, etc.) would guarantee unreliable results that are all over the place, because it would allow for bias, lack of precision and individual scientists to come up with whatever stuff they want.
OBSERVATION of reality would tell you that the results are less reliable, and less consistent.
LOGIC would tell you that the method producing arbitrary results that don't work, ....
And science is based on logic and observation. If you deny the validity of logic and observation, you deny reality, and start living in a world where you can make any claim you so wish - using the excuse that truth doesn't need to coincide with collective observation or make any sense. Good luck with that, and tell me of your solipsistic adventures.
@twooffour I don't think you understood the argument. If science must be the means for all knowledge, as atheists would say, then the knowledge of the scientific method must have came by means of science also. Another way to say it is if empiricism is true, then the truth of empiricism must have been empirically observed. Both of these are self-refuting. Science works like this: If A then B, B therefore A. This is a fallacy no matter how many times it is performed.
Alright, since you really want to be such a dense pseudo-intellectual dipshit, let me break this down for you one last time:
There are basically two ways you can live your life.
You can start suspecting your wife cheating on you, for some reason, and take steps to verify (or, if possible, falsify - the more concrete the suspicions, the easier) your suspicion.
OR, you can start suspecting your wife cheating, just because, and then just decide that it must be the case...
So, according to you, it's impossible to know whether confirmation through observation and information would be the only way to find out, because you'd first need to observe how a suspicion is confirmed by observation, and that would be self-refuting.
That's how stupid your point is.
Let me put it another way - could you have responded to my comment without reading it? How do you know the only way to respond to a comment is by reading it first?
@twooffour My advice to you, little boy, is that you first do a little studying in logic so that you can respond in a way that sounds intelligent. You think you are smart, but you have a lot of growing to do. I will not waste anymore of my time with you.
Mhm. So you think you can lecture me on logic, and there you are, committing the gravest sin of internet debating: avoiding the argument completely while trying to cover up with cocky, condescending plattitudes when you've been proven wrong.
Only a 7 year old on his 1st week of intertube debating would hope to score with this kind of cheap cop-out.
Did you honestly think no one would notice how you FAILED TO ADDRESS A SINGLE POINT?
@sandcut1 Matt probably attended a liberal college, or at least had a liberal professor that had doubts about the Bible himself. If the history of the Bible, or the Bible itself isn't taught accurately, one can surely develop doubts about its authenticity. I don't know what caused him to reject the Bible, but whatever it was, it can be shown to be of little substance.
@YHWHisSovereign Ya he probably attended kent Hovinds Creation Science Evangelism ministry. He was also probably shaking his head in disbelief also. Kent Hovind is of little substance. You got one thing right and that's the authenticity of the bible.
@YHWHisSovereign Where did you get your information about Matt anyway, sounds like like you are just assuming things about Matt, unless you can prove otherwise your comments have no substance. Science is knowledge, testable and predictable. Your science rant is garbage.
@sandcut1 Concerning Matt, I was just saying what I thought was the most likely reason for loosing his faith. Professors, whether in a secular or religious school, can and do cause people to loose their faith. As far as science, if energy is eternal, and applying the 2nd law of thermodynamics, then for eternity energy has been increasing in entropy but has yet to reach a state of equilibrium. This is impossible unless it is constant, which violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
@YHWHisSovereign Matt has explained many many time why he has lost his faith. And obviously I am an athiest. Isn't it possible we just don't know everything about the universe/energy. I think there is still a lot to learn as humans, we have just scratched the surface of obtaining knowledge. I would like to see humanity in a 100 thousand years from now, and i doubt god will be involved.
that's nonsense. entropy and energy are two completely different things. Entropy is just the measure of the disorder of the matter in the universe, which does always increase. its not the amount. it WILL reach an equalibrium, in somewhere around 40 trillion years, everything will be stretched out until there is a single atom per 100 square lightyears. if the universe does indeed keep expanding, that is.
@sandcut1 WE are not in a isolated physical system though, your hypotheses is flawed. You can believe in god all you want, I don't give a rats ass. I just think you are wrong. I have been told many times by Christians that I will burn in hell for eternity for not believing in god. That is flawed in many many ways. That's right me and Jeffery Dahmer in hell together, even though I would never hurt anyone. I am a gentle and kind athiest, but according to the bible I will burn burn burn, forever.
@YHWHisSovereign Yeah, you go ahead and keep telling yourself that. You "christians" are such hypocrites, condemning the very behaviors that you exhibit. Most of you haven't even read your buy bulls, and just believe whatever your charlatan preacher tells you. Even the side notes in most buy bulls admit that the gospels were written anonymously and in the 3rd person. The church added the names in later, and these are not eyewitness accounts. Mark, the earliest, wasn't written until 65 AD.
@richwfd2002 I've studied the Bible quite extensively. All of the books of the New Testament were written prior to 70AD. Sure, not all scholars accept this, but most accept a relatively short time from Jesus' ministry to the gospels. Really, what does third person matter? Luke did a lot of interviewing from eye-witnesses who knew Jesus. Mark was a companion of Peter. John and Matthew knew Jesus. There has never been any doubt that they were the gospel writers.
@YHWHisSovereign Well, if that makes it easier for you, you stick with your story. It's easier to believe buy bull scholars who have spent their entire careers studying this stuff than to believe someone who has an emotional interest in affirming hearsay-based "evidence". Either way, your "god" is an inept communicator.
@proheticman (cont) The types of arguments you are making for your faith do have a few other flaws. For example, the dark entities bit can be applied to every religion, therefore making it a poor argument for christianity. That is why I said to change your arguments. They are flawed. Learn about falacies that can be made in arguments, look at the arguments for christianity, and study the issues with the arguments, the best and most common rebutals, and you may learn more about your faith.
@NoNamesLeft0102 Have the little faith it requires that maybe a Loving god that Created you is out there waiting for you to seriously ask for His Help to see and know Him...Ask Him to reveal the Spiritual Realm to you, He will...you will start to see the dark entities that are all around you working to enslave, entrance, and mind control humanity and working to stop you from in your free-will asking God for His help... He reveals Himself to all who seriously seek to know Him, and keep His Laws
@successissure I assume that you are a christian, and if you are, I should remind you of the story told by your messiah, Jesus Christ, of two homes, one built upon sand, and the other upon rock. Faith is a blind assertion, hence built upon sand. Knowing is an assertion based upon fact and evidence, hence built upon rock. So I ask you, what happens to those who build their homes upon sand according to that story? Matthew 7:24-27, Luke 6:47-49 if you need the reference.
@successissure In the case that you are not a christian, let me know what your faith is so that I can properly debate you.
Now, concerning your comments about revealing the spiritual realm. READ FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. ONE WEEK AGO: "I sought him out, I FOUND HIM, and believed. Unfortunatly, when I sought out the arguments in support of and against, the arguments that were used in support of, as a follower, I could see flaws with, and the arguments against, I had difficulty with."
@successissure Not to mention, the lack of evidence that can be used to support the existence of a god, the spiritual realm, and dark entities. Evil? Natural Disasters are just that, natural. Human acts that bring harm against others are just that, Human acts. No evil supernatural cause required to induce them.
Now, I know the whole he reveals himself and follow bit. So did Zeus to those who did that, and if you prefer more modern comparisons, so has Allah. That is not proof, OF YOUR GOD.
@successissure Feel free to reply if you can avoid those issues stated, reread the bit between me and propheticman so you don't say the same thing that he did, and come to hear the same bit as I have no interest in repeating myself on one video, and finally, if you are not a christian, state your faith so that I can debate you properly as I've stated before.
I did everything you've suggested here and more. I never saw or heard from any entity, god or otherwise.
And since you believe that there are dark entities lying in wait for us, to control our minds, as you said, then you have to ask why your ghost-god is allowing such powerful, potentially controlling entities to terrorize mankind! Why would he expose such frail humans to such dark powers??
@successissure When you talk about dark entities do you mean those priests that introduce their cock inside little boys and girls and then are protected by that old rich man in white?
@prophetic man Second part. Anecdotal evidence concerning your brother, and your ability to heal to heal others. Who and where is the proof for what you claim? And finally, the third part, which still depends on the spiritual realm, which you have yet to provide proof for or a sufficient argument for. The reasons you claim are insufficient. The sperating from their god only works on theists who are on the fence. The dark entities bit falls where the cause is concerned. (continued)
@propheticman Lets look at your rebutal. first part: defining christianity in a way that DID apply to me, but I still saw flaws with. I sought him out, I FOUND HIM, and believed. Unfortunatly, when I sought out the arguments in support of and against, the arguments that were used in support of, as a follower, I could see flaws with, and the arguments against, I had difficulty with. The only way that I could beat them was by being closeminded. If Jesus restored sight to the blind, then now I see.
@propheticman (cont) is? Ah, thats right, limited to anecdotal claims. I have no issue with you, but if you make claims concerning the supernatural, and can't support them with evidence provided by others (keep the standard high, otherwise you'll accept anything and fall into the same trap again), try to approach it from another means. As a former non-demoninational christian (moved between churches), the weak arguments I've seen you make on this video would've made me feel ill back then.
@NoNamesLeft0102 you were no christian if God (Jesus)didn't speak to you, reveal Himself to you, and show you that atheism is just down right prideful stupidity and arrogance thinking you can say without a doubt that there is no God who created us, who has Laws that humans (His creations) have chosen to ignore and thus suffer the consequences on the earth..a God who does reveal Himself to ALL who seek Him ith their whole heartfocus.not an intellectual experience like you had, maybe.
@NoNamesLeft0102 you were no christian if God (Jesus)didn't speak to you, reveal Himself to you, and show you that atheism is just down right prideful stupidity and arrogance thinking you can say without a doubt that there is no God who created us, who has Laws that humans (His creations) have chosen to ignore and thus suffer the consequences on the earth..a God who does reveal Himself to ALL who seek Him with their whole heartfocus.not an intellectual experience like you had, maybe.
@propheticman “spiritual realm is very, very real.”
Care to prove it? We’ve seen your claims concerning other parts go down in flames. How about the one that you can change the qualities of? Hey, something that you can never pin down as having set characteristics? Why not believe in it? After all, all it has supporting it aside from ancient texts and superstitious people who distort things such as quantum science either through intentional means or ignorance to defend their faith.
@NoNamesLeft0102 ASK God yourself to reveal to you the truths of the Spiritual Realm, He will...and the reason why nobody is getting healed and delivered from our emotional mental sicknesses (though an increase in knowledge) is because most are rejecting the true cause of their sicknesses... separation from the True God (Jesus) who wants to heal them...and cast the dark energies and entities out of them that sicken them...
Are you qualified to be able to say that without sufficient conditions, one cannot change their voice, and that with physical stresses, that the range would not increase? I await to hear your credentials in the medical field. Note: the degrees you get from the guy cleaning the john at any major university will not be counted as being from that university, nor will they be counted towards your qualifications for being able to claim to be a linguist.
@NoNamesLeft0102 I have a schizophrenic brother who has cried out to God and been healed, delivered been healed and delivered from every "voice" that He has chosen to want to be rid of...and I'm involved in deliverance ministry, I've had dark energies/entities come out of me as I've cried out to God, and I''ve helped other do the same, and they've been delivered, healed, emotionally, mentally, physically... all doctors with credentials can do is drug the person up..they've come to me for help
@proheticman "people speaking in languages they don't know,"
Are you certain that they are even speaking a language, and if so, which one? Gaelic, Hebrew, Latin, Mandarin, Lingala, French, or some other language/dialect? Do you care to tell me which one it was? Are you even qualified as a linguist to be able to say "It’s a language!" Similar phonomes in the sounds that they make do not support the language idea. And if you say "it’s a spiritual language," give evidence and its source.
@propheticman “I worked in Exorcism ministry,...seen many scary things”
First off, there is no exorcism ministry. There are ministries that endorsed exorcism, but there are no ministries based on the foundation of exorcism. They may include the practice of exorcism, but that is barely sufficient grounds to call them an exorcism ministry if you take definitions seriously. Ministry: work of a religious minister. The second part is anecdotal (seen scary things), so no need to cover that.
@propheticman (cont) The improvements in psychopharmacology have been slow, but getting better. At some point, this argument (mental health) might not even be plausible with the exception of history textbooks. Although I will say, check out the types of drugs used for that field before you claim the layman’s “hypnotic drugs.”
@propheticman “spend some time in a psychiatric hospital, nobody is getting helped,..just so drugged up by hallucinogens, and hypnotics drugs that they can't function in the real world”
I have. I agree, for the most part, nobody is getting helped, if you exclude having a place that they are safer in, hence why a psychiatric hospital is also called an asylum. But guess what; most of the people in there couldn’t function on the outside without drugs, and if you were in one, you'd know that.
@propheticman (cont)you would have never included emotional health as part of an argument. The Mental health aspect of your argument could only be used for only a little longer, so it really is very weak due to the limited time in which we have had both to get the increase in rates.
Behold. For you all witness the beginnings of humanity's first Great Technological Dark Age. Even as communications technology and techniques allow for freedom of thought, expression, and organization among those of us who simply WILL NOT swallow this shovel-full of horse-s**t that the religious cannot stop themselves from attempting to force-feed us, it allows them to do the same concerning their wholly immoral teachings, derived from a book that reads like a script for one of the 'Saw' movies.
@TheAsmodeus2012 All the increae in knowledge and technological advances do is bring God's Judgement upon the world more quickly,..as a world no longer naive, but ignorant and rebellious to the Truths of the true God, Jesus, that they now know, they follow and build the antichrist (antiJesus) kingdoms on earth for the fallen angels/aliens ...they will appear soon to give you advanced technology and advanced knowledge into believing they are the "gods" that created you and love you, but decieve
@propheticman I must say I find myself wholly unimpressed by this argument. For one thing, you could just as easily say that knowledge and wisdom by means of reasoned thought and investigation is precisely why the alleged god gave us such abilities. It could then be further argued that if said god does show up, it would likely be to stomp out all the backward-thinking folk like you who fight to stymie any sort of scientific or cultural progress.
@TheAsmodeus2012 He did show up, in the Christ, the Messiah, Jesus, to teach us how to commune and fellowship with the True Holy God that we prideful sinful humanity have been ignoring and rebelling against and bringing all this suffering to the His Creation He created and loves and wants to heal, but its our choice to let Him..He walked with us in the perfect Eden as a Parent, and was going to teach us everything we needed to know WHEN we needed to know it..not before we could handle it.
"He did show up, in the Christ, the Messiah, Jesus"
When was this? During the reign of Herod or when Quirinius was governor of Syria? It's important as Herod's reign ended 4 BCE and Quirinius wasn't governor until 6CE... It'd be nice if you could clear up that Bible feux pas for us all.
@TheAsmodeus2012 Our source of knowledge and truth was going to be from hearing God's Parental voice teaching us..if you have children you know if our teachers are bad, then we become bad.. humanity has chosen to live separated from the Holy Parental Presence of the God who created us and loves us, and chosen to let the fallen angels (serpent in garden) be our teachers..teaching us to ignore God, and try to fix the world ourselves, and build our own antichrist families,cult-ures, and businesses
@TheAsmodeus2012 And its better to be safe then sorry...you probably have insurance, don't you? Car insurance, life insurance, house and property insurance, medical insurance,... what if there really is a Loving Holy God who is here, all around us, who loves and cares for us ...we just ignore His Voice, and works because He asks us to seek Him, and be humble and sorry and ask Him to teach and change our hearts to prepare us for eternal life in heaven ..not ignore and rebel against Him.
@successissure You do realize that can be viewed the other way around, don't you? If it's such a ubiquitous fact that god exists, then I am merely taking out insurance against the possibility that there is no such god. The presence or influence of such a being can't be tested, and is supposed to be undetectable. In that case, his existence becomes irrelevant. If he exists, you should live your life the best you can, learning from your mistakes. If he doesn't, the same still applies.
Matt for president.

Guyll21 3 months ago
@Guyll21 Another stupid theist. And the reason why they're speaking is to make sure that USA stays a press where an atheist can be open about it without fear of official punishment.
1Lanavis1 3 months ago
@1Lanavis1 Calling me stupid? I can feel the tolerance! When have you been punished for your believes? I know why they're speaking and if you listen they are also defending christianity's and other institutions right to free press. I'm just saying that they are not seeing the whole picture.
Guyll21 3 months ago
@Guyll21 Like slavery?
Akira625 3 months ago 2
@Akira625 Slavery? I'm not sure what you mean exactly but....I'm pretty sure christianity does not endorse slavery. Sure it's in the bible but it's looked upon as a sin. Now if you're referring to someone being "bonded" in biblical scripture I hope you know that that is not slavery. Rather a contract in witch both parties agree to a set amount of duties in return for food, shelter, etc..
Guyll21 3 months ago
@Guyll21 I apologize for the stupid comment. It's inexcusable. However, I have been punished for my disbelief by the treatment I'm supposed to tolerate as an atheist. For the slavery as a contract, that only included Jews. Non-jews could be lifelong slaves transferred liked property to their children.
1Lanavis1 3 months ago
@Guyll21 Can you please poitnt to the verse where it says slavery is a sin? YOu can play semantics with the difference between a bondsman and a slave if you like however the bondsman argument only applies to Hebrew slaves owned by Hebrews. Those verses do not apply to non-Hebrew slaves. They were slaves for life and could passed to the next generation as property.
MsPhoneMonkey 3 months ago in playlist The Atheist Experience 5
@MsPhoneMonkey I'm not going to pilfer through scripture to find examples of anti-slavery sentiments but I assure you there are. Just because they, JC & disciples, could not do anything about people owning slaves does not mean they favored or endorsed slavery in any way. Rather, they told the slaves to seek freedom at any opportunity given them.

@Guyll21 1 Peter 2:18 "Servants, be submissive to your masters with all fear, not only to the good and gentle, but also to the harsh."
YY4Me133 3 months ago
@YY4Me133 I don't think you're seeing the picture here. You can't call a servant, a "slave", especially in ancient times. Big difference. Servitude was a way of life back then, where the servants were provided for by their masters in return for services. It would be like a rich man saying his maid is a servant, which technically they are.
Guyll21 3 months ago
@Guyll21 I think you're in denial. According to the christian bible, "servants" could be bought and sold, beaten almost to death, and passed on to the owner's heirs. They were slaves, possessions, property. A rich man today cannot buy, beat, sell or bequeath a maid.
You wrote: "...they told the slaves to seek freedom at any opportunity given them." 1 Peter 2:18 says otherwise. Can you provide a passage that backs up what you wrote?
See: fredsbibletalk[DOT]com/slavesorservantsDOT]html
YY4Me133 3 months ago
@YY4Me133 (1 Corinthians 7:21) "Were you a slave when you were called? Don't let it trouble you--although if you can gain your freedom, do so." (Exodus 21:16) “Anyone who kidnaps another and either sells him or still has him when he is caught must be put to death.” Biblical "slavery" was not the same as the slavery like the blacks endured. People went willingly into slavery or SERVITUDE. Besides, Christ didn't come to change the world but change our souls.
Guyll21 3 months ago
@Guyll21 The following sure sounds like slavery to me...
Ex. 21:20 "And if a man smite his servant, or his maid, with a rod, and he die under his hand; he shall be surely punished." 21:21 "Notwithstanding, if he continue a day or two, he shall not be punished: for he is his money."
Also, Lev. 25:44-46 uses the words "slaves" and "property."
There is no evidence for a historical Jesus, and there is no evidence for the existence of "souls."
YY4Me133 3 months ago
@YY4Me133 You're kidding right? I really hope you're not saying just because there was slavery in biblical times and there obviously wasn't anything anyone could do about, and they were just dealing with what they knew at the time, that the bible condones slavery in the terms that you think it does? Uh, there is historical evidence of Christ. The soul...Just because you can't sense radio waves does that mean they don't exist?
Guyll21 3 months ago
@Guyll21 It's not that slavery existed, it's that the god of the bible condoned it. The bible god told people to stone to death disobedient children, people who picked up sticks on the sabbath, etc., but instead of telling people it's not okay to own other humans, it gave them rules for doing so.
If you have evidence for a historical Jesus, please present it. Radio waves can be detected and measured. There is no evidence for "souls." If you have any, please present it.
YY4Me133 3 months ago
@YY4Me133 He did not condone it. They were servants, that most of the time put themselves up for purchase of their services. The Hebrew word for servant is the same as slave but they're not mutually exclusive. Google "evidence of jesus". So just because we don't have the technology to sense souls they don't exist? That does not make sense. I wonder what George Washington would of thought if you told him about radio waves?
Guyll21 3 months ago
@Guyll21 A person named jesus christ may have existed & may have been crucified. There isn't any evidence to support the claim that he is a god or the son of a god. There isn't any evidence too support the claim that his mother (Mary) was impregnated thru immaculate conception. There isn't any evidence to support your claim that souls exist. STOP preaching !
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 We have technologies which can sense (Transmit & Receive) radio waves.
We don't have evidence of souls or evidence to support the existence of any god.
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@tranquility4all Who's to say that we won't have the tech to sense souls through a machine? Before basic transmitters and receivers were invented, telling someone that invisible waves of energy existed would've sounded just as fantastical as saying souls exist.
Guyll21 2 months ago
@Guyll21 Please correct me if I'm wrong. Since People's existence We have evidence of Energy. Examples include Water Current & Sunlight. However We don't have any evidence for the existence of souls. The claim for the existence of souls will either be accepted, challenged or rejected. However, claims for the existence of souls ( & a god or gods ) still haven't been supported with any evidence.
AMEN !
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@tranquility4all No shit? You're missing the point; which is, that there are things that exist that we do not have the capability to sense. The same thing could've been said about radio waves before we had the ability to even know they existed. All atheists want is to paint a very bleak picture of human existence. It's really sad the way you people go out of your way to prove a moot point.
Guyll21 2 months ago
@Guyll21 All atheists want to paint a very bleak picture of Human Existence ? Did You question EVERY atheist ? You're revealing Your contempt of People who don't agree with Your beliefs. It's true they're many things which haven't been discovered. You're missing my Pt. It's foolish to ASSume something exists when there isn't any evidence to support its' existence. It's also STUPID for You to ASSume what I consider myself to be. I don't claim to have solid knowledge of all life's intricacies.
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@tranquility4all For what it's worth, I have not met an atheist yet that is not as I described. Faith means absolutely nothing to you. The sad thing is that atheists eventually stop believing in anything...love, happiness, contentment, etc.
Guyll21 2 months ago
@Guyll21 You probably met very few atheists. Faith is nothing more than Your excuse to believe something without EVIDENCE. Your ASSertion that Atheists stop believing in anything is LUDICROUIS & confirms Your bigotry towards People who don't share Your views. It's RATIONAL to question or reject claims which aren't supported with evidence & to require Evidence before accepting/ believing claims. Are You so naive to believe faith is more relevant than Evidence ?
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 For You to suggest Atheists don't believe in anything & are not capable of experiencing Love, Contentment & Happiness etc. further confirms You're an Irrational Extremist theist who rushes to judge & condemn People who don't share Your views. Get of Your moral high horse You sanctimonious Extremist !
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 Many Atheists are good moral people who love other people, raise families & contribute to society. NEWS FLASH You don't need religion, faith or belief in a god to be moral & to experience Love, Happiness, Contentment etc. Many theists are good people. Many are immoral who think just because they worship some deity they are morally superiors to other People who worship a different god/ gods or People who don't worship a god.
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 Many theists also believe so long as they worship their god they will be saved regardless of all horrific acts they commit. Ask Yourself this Question. Which of these People is Moral. A person who lives an exemplary life & doesn't believe a god exists OR A person who believes a god exists & continually continually commits horrific acts but goes to confession regularly to ask forgiveness ?
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@tranquility4all It's funny to see you get defensive and annoyed when confronted with truths that you deny on a daily basis. The inner turmoil of your questioning of God, faith, humanity's purpose, is blatantly obvious. You last idealistic conjectural situation has an obvious answer....anyone with common sense knows the answer....except, I have a hard time believing you do.
Guyll21 2 months ago
@Guyll21 What truths have You presented ? You believe a god exists. However You can't present evidence to support Your belief. I question any claim which isn't supposed with evidence. Unlike You who accepts any claim because it makes you feel good. The only thing blatantly obvious is You're an irrational christian fundamentalist who is either too lazy or unable to engage in CRITICAL THINKING ! Your inability to form a Rational Argument or answer any Question reveals You're NOT a RATIONAL Person.
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 You still haven't answers any questions. I'll give You another chance. Do You believe faith is more relevant than Evidence to support claims ? Get off Your moral high horse & stop preaching. Try answering a Direct Question. Your refusal to answer Direct Questions confirms You're the one who is getting defensive.
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 The only thing that annoys me is your continual condemnation & bigotry towards People who don't share Your views. Combined with your Asinine blanket indictment that all atheists are incapable of experiencing love, happiness, contentment etc.
If hatred & bigotry are nutritional, You will live a long life.
Your abundance of IGNORANCE complements Your excess of STUPIDITY !
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@tranquility4all Look back your comments and tell me who looks the extremist. I could rebut everyone of your arguments with valid points, but frankly, I have a life and could care less what you think merits irrefutable evidence. Someone else telling you what is evidence and what is not is absolutely nonsensical. Evidence of what we know is continually changing, along with the interpretation. What is absolute today becomes de minimis tomorrow. ;)
Guyll21 2 months ago
@Guyll21 You could rebut everything I've said ? Try supporting What You ASSert with EVIDENCE. Begin by supporting Your ASSertion that Atheists don't believe anything & aren't capable of feeling Love & Happiness etc. Then present EVIDENCE to support the existence of a god. Evidence doesn't change. More evidence is discovered & hopefully it increases Our understanding. Unfortunately You can't present ANY evidence to support any of Your Asinine ASSertions & ASSumptions.
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 The only claim I made was Evidence is more relevant than faith. Try presenting a RATIONAL ARGUMENT that faith is more relevant than Evidence to support claims. You need to learn How to engage in Critical Thinking. Begin by Questioning claims instead of believing them without evidence. Learn How to form RATIONAL ARGUMENTS supported with Evidence. STOP making Asinine blanket indictments (All Atheists are incapable of experiencing Love) of all People who don't agree with Your beliefs.
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@tranquility4all Whoa, talk about an arbitrary claim! Evidence vs. Faith is actually the most extraneous proofing there could possibly be. Absolutely irrelevant when trying to prove your views against theirs. I have evidence of God, but obviously you wouldn't call it evidence compared to your evidence. Your argument has to have some correlation.
Guyll21 2 months ago
@Guyll21Faith isn't evidence nor is it proof . Faith is Your excuse to believe something without evidence. Don't tell me You have evidence to support the existence of a god. PRESENT IT ! My Argument is valid. I'm claiming Evidence is more relevant than faith to support claims. I asked You several times to present evidence to support the existence of a god. You haven't. I also asked You to support Your ridiculous ASSertion that Atheists can't experience Love & Happiness. You haven't.
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 All You've done is make claims & failed to present any evidence to support them. You have to present some evidence to support Your arguments If You want People to take You seriously. Here's Your opportunity. Either present evidence to support Your ASSertions & ASSumptions or SHUT UP & GO AWAY !
tranquility4all 2 months ago
@Guyll21 Here's something I suggest You do before presenting evidence to support the existence of a god. DEFINE Your god in specific terms. Then present evidence to support its' existence. Then present evidence to support Your Asinine ASSertion that Atheists don't believe anything & aren't capable of experiencing Love, Happiness & Contentment. You've made 2 extraordinary claims. Now it's time for You to try to support them with EVIDENCE.
PUT UP or SHUT UP !

@YY4Me133 Read the new testament. That's Chrisitanity, not the old testaments barbarity. Mmm, I wonder why we have "IN GOD WE TRUST"?

@Guyll21 You mean, Jesus "meek and mild?"
Luke 19:27 "But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me."
We have "In God We Trust" because some christian politicians put their religion before their country, their personal agenda before their oath of office. The original national motto was "E Pluribus Unum."
YY4Me133 3 months ago

JasonHouston77 9 months ago
@JasonHouston77
Those are not atheists, they are anti-theists and even then only a small percentage of anti-theists. They are also atheist but they are such a small percentage that your argument is fucking ridiculous.
Remember, in US about 40% believe the bible should be taught. That is dangerous.

NUTCASE71733 6 months ago
@NUTCASE71733 Did you pay attention when they taught spelling? It's really hard to understand what you're saying. The first amendment is freedom of speech, and is still susceptible to limitations by the clear and present danger clause. If atheists convince lawmakers that practicing religion is harmful to society, laws that limit religious practice could one day be seen. Not that it's going to happen any time soon. And if the 2nd amendment is any indication, they don't matter.
JasonHouston77 6 months ago
@JasonHouston77 Most people identify themselves as 'atheists' for lack of a better word. Our real goal is to advance reason and rational conversation, and oppose ideology. Religion is based on ideology. If a community develops that does not believe in "god", but has other ideological views on running society, today's 'atheists' would oppose that too. A society is based on reason and rational conversation will never persecute any section of the population based on the ideology of other sections.
greenjelly01 6 months ago
@JasonHouston77 Well, the church incarcerated, tortured and killed in the name of god, so it wouldn't be bad to give religious people the same medicine for once.
Fangalatic 6 months ago
@Fangalatic Yes it would. Killing more innocent people would be horrible. That's the kind of bigot attitude I was addressing.
JasonHouston77 6 months ago
@JasonHouston77 Your were bigot first, and all the power your religion has now is because of that same reason. Don't turn tables and don't call yourself a victim.
Fangalatic 6 months ago
@Fangalatic Who am I a bigot towards? How am I turning tables? My "religion" wasn't even around then. I wasn't calling myself a victim. I was saying some atheists are bigots, some aren't. Same with religion. You're a bigot, greenjelly is not. And how do two wrongs make a right?
JasonHouston77 6 months ago
@JasonHousto77 No one is going to execute now anybody for their beliefs. Well, except if you are a god or a server, in which case is mandatory to kill, rape and slave. Its a fact that if we go towards a much more religion-free society, keeping religion out of public life, you and the ones of your herd will start bitchin' and moaning and screaming about prosecution in such bad taste as that post above. And I find that quite disturbing since you and your sect have always been the tyrants.
Fangalatic 6 months ago
@Fangalatic You, sir, are proof that atheists can be ignorant too.
JasonHouston77 6 months ago
@JasonHouston77 See? That's all you have? You call me ignorant and evade the fact that your church is a murderous cult.
Fangalatic 6 months ago 5
@Fangalatic You are ignorant. First, of my religious beliefs. I have no church. And no one in my "religion" kills in the name of it. Second, you're ignorant of modern day religion. While horrific acts are still committed out of ignorance in third world countries, religious people in general consider it unacceptable to kill and rape. And I don't believe anything I've said has been in bad taste. But throwing insults and making blanketed statements is bad taste imo.
JasonHouston77 6 months ago
@JasonHouston77 This country, The USA has killed more people in unjustified wars, ethnic aggression, and genocide in the last 400+ years than any other country, Germany included. Yet this is a "Christian" country? No, it is not third world countries that make me shudder. It's the well meaning average American who waves his flag, and shouts go team!
beastshawnee 6 months ago
@beastshawnee That's a different argument. If someone stoned a girl to death for having premarital sex, or beat a child to death because a "prophet" said that child was a witch in the US, they would spend the rest of their life in jail. But those kinds of things happen in poorer countries. But even though horrible things like that still happen, most religious people don't agree with it. "Killing in the name of God" is becoming a thing of the past.
JasonHouston77 6 months ago
@JasonHouston77 jason- I've got to respectfully disagree with you again here. Do you not realize all the propaganda against "Radical Muslims" is American Christians excuse to go to war? This is a holy war, make no mistake. And a racist war, also. Take a look at a map of all the bombings America has done around the world. We bomb brown people. Every time. It's ridiculous.
beastshawnee 6 months ago
@beastshawnee I don't agree with your previous post about Americans killing more than 50 million people (Germany) or 80 million people (Russia) in one war. And I don't agree that getting rid of religion is the answer, especially when Stalin (again, 80 million people) was atheist. And your last post sounds like conspiracy theory to me, especially when you consider that we're taking Muslims' sides against other Muslims. I think it's money, not religion.

Urfullobull 10 months ago
@Urfullobull Define free thinker. What does that term have to do with critical thinking and logic? Do you believe in the laws of logic? When did the laws of logic come into existence? Can they change?
So you don't believe in anyone? If you do, then who told you to believe in them? How is it that a Christian has to be told who to believe in, but an atheist don't? Can you support this claim?
YHWHisSovereign 10 months ago
@YHWHisSovereign That's a pretty slick underhanded tactic there asking that many questions in 1 post knowing that it may take a whole post or more to answer each question. (Why do U guys do that?)" How is it that a Christian has to be told who to believe in and an Atheist doesn't?" LMAO,Ur kidding right? Watch me support that claim with 1 sentance; "Believe Jesus died on the cross for Ur sins and repent or go to Hell." Not only are U told what to believe but are forced under penalty of HELL.
Urfullobull 10 months ago

Urfullobull 10 months ago
@Urfullobull You said, "As opposed to the Theist who is NOT a free thinker and MUST be told what, how and who to Believe in..." Then you say, "Wheather someone"had"to tell U is irrelevant."
If someone MUST tell me what to believe in, how is it that it is irrevelant that someone "had" to tell me? Like most atheists, you do a good job contradicting yourself. But then the foundation for atheism is self-refuting.
YHWHisSovereign 10 months ago
@YHWHisSovereign Thank U for a prime example of not being able to think for Urself or the ability to use Logic. The key word is "HAD". No 1 "had" to tell U or was physicaly forced to tell U. U didn't have to Believe either. But once U DO BELIEVE what the Bible says then U MUST Believe it, (if U don't U are traitor to God and will be sent to HELL for non-belief.<-----hence the "now being told what and how to believe.") Like most Theists U do a great job of NOT Thinking. Theism is self-delusion.
Urfullobull 10 months ago
@Urfullobull Trying to avoid your contradictory statement I see. Let's look at the major assumption that atheists make, namely that all knowledge is obtained through empiricism, or science which uses empiricism. If this is true, then science must validate science. This is self-refuting. Or, the truth of empiricism must be empirically observed. Also self-refuting. There is also a severe problem with where energy came from. No matter how you explain it, it be in conflict with the laws of science.
YHWHisSovereign 10 months ago
@YHWHisSovereign
Urfullobull 10 months ago 3
@YHWHisSovereign
Science must validate science, eh?
Let's break it down:
-mountains of confirmed predictions validate science - if predictions made with a certain method are confirmed repeatedly, this method seems valid. (Wanna debate that? You can say that methods which produce inacurate predictions, are more reliable, and those that hit the mark, are less so.)
-reliably working technology based on those confirmed predictions validate science - if you can build tools using the knowledge...
twooffour 9 months ago 2
@twooffour
... acquired by science, that knowledge must've been good for something (=everything). Wanna debate that, too?
What you brought up is a false problem. Science isn't based on some unvalidated axiom that "science is the way", it's based on the observation that the methods used in it produce the most reliable, consistent results.
Deviating from the scientific method (removing the need for predictions; removing the need for constant peer review and falsification; removing...
twooffour 9 months ago
@twooffour
... the standards of accuracy when determining whether the predictions were true; re-introducing confirmation bias, etc.) would guarantee unreliable results that are all over the place, because it would allow for bias, lack of precision and individual scientists to come up with whatever stuff they want.
OBSERVATION of reality would tell you that the results are less reliable, and less consistent.
LOGIC would tell you that the method producing arbitrary results that don't work, ....
twooffour 9 months ago
@twooffour
... must be invalid.
And science is based on logic and observation. If you deny the validity of logic and observation, you deny reality, and start living in a world where you can make any claim you so wish - using the excuse that truth doesn't need to coincide with collective observation or make any sense. Good luck with that, and tell me of your solipsistic adventures.
twooffour 9 months ago
@twooffour I don't think you understood the argument. If science must be the means for all knowledge, as atheists would say, then the knowledge of the scientific method must have came by means of science also. Another way to say it is if empiricism is true, then the truth of empiricism must have been empirically observed. Both of these are self-refuting. Science works like this: If A then B, B therefore A. This is a fallacy no matter how many times it is performed.
YHWHisSovereign 9 months ago
@YHWHisSovereign
OR, you can start suspecting your wife cheating, just because, and then just decide that it must be the case...
twooffour 9 months ago
@YHWHisSovereign
... and file for divorce.
How do you know the only way to respond to a comment is by reading it first?
twooffour 9 months ago
@twooffour My advice to you, little boy, is that you first do a little studying in logic so that you can respond in a way that sounds intelligent. You think you are smart, but you have a lot of growing to do. I will not waste anymore of my time with you.

???, Matt was a Christian for 25 years, and wanted to be a minister. I'm shaking my head in disbelief at your ridiculous comment (s).
sandcut1 10 months ago 5
@sandcut1 Matt probably attended a liberal college, or at least had a liberal professor that had doubts about the Bible himself. If the history of the Bible, or the Bible itself isn't taught accurately, one can surely develop doubts about its authenticity. I don't know what caused him to reject the Bible, but whatever it was, it can be shown to be of little substance.
YHWHisSovereign 10 months ago
@YHWHisSovereign Ya he probably attended kent Hovinds Creation Science Evangelism ministry. He was also probably shaking his head in disbelief also. Kent Hovind is of little substance. You got one thing right and that's the authenticity of the bible.
sandcut1 10 months ago
@YHWHisSovereign Where did you get your information about Matt anyway, sounds like like you are just assuming things about Matt, unless you can prove otherwise your comments have no substance. Science is knowledge, testable and predictable. Your science rant is garbage.
sandcut1 10 months ago 28
@sandcut1 Concerning Matt, I was just saying what I thought was the most likely reason for loosing his faith. Professors, whether in a secular or religious school, can and do cause people to loose their faith. As far as science, if energy is eternal, and applying the 2nd law of thermodynamics, then for eternity energy has been increasing in entropy but has yet to reach a state of equilibrium. This is impossible unless it is constant, which violates the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
YHWHisSovereign 10 months ago
@YHWHisSovereign Matt has explained many many time why he has lost his faith. And obviously I am an athiest. Isn't it possible we just don't know everything about the universe/energy. I think there is still a lot to learn as humans, we have just scratched the surface of obtaining knowledge. I would like to see humanity in a 100 thousand years from now, and i doubt god will be involved.
sandcut1 10 months ago 10
@YHWHisSovereign
that's nonsense. entropy and energy are two completely different things. Entropy is just the measure of the disorder of the matter in the universe, which does always increase. its not the amount. it WILL reach an equalibrium, in somewhere around 40 trillion years, everything will be stretched out until there is a single atom per 100 square lightyears. if the universe does indeed keep expanding, that is.
roont 9 months ago

Mark, the earliest, wasn't written until 65 AD.
richwfd2002 10 months ago
@richwfd2002 I've studied the Bible quite extensively. All of the books of the New Testament were written prior to 70AD. Sure, not all scholars accept this, but most accept a relatively short time from Jesus' ministry to the gospels. Really, what does third person matter? Luke did a lot of interviewing from eye-witnesses who knew Jesus. Mark was a companion of Peter. John and Matthew knew Jesus. There has never been any doubt that they were the gospel writers.

He reveals Himself to all who seriously seek to know Him, and keep His Laws
successissure 1 year ago
@successissure I assume that you are a christian, and if you are, I should remind you of the story told by your messiah, Jesus Christ, of two homes, one built upon sand, and the other upon rock. Faith is a blind assertion, hence built upon sand. Knowing is an assertion based upon fact and evidence, hence built upon rock. So I ask you, what happens to those who build their homes upon sand according to that story? Matthew 7:24-27, Luke 6:47-49 if you need the reference.
NoNamesLeft0102 1 year ago
@successissure In the case that you are not a christian, let me know what your faith is so that I can properly debate you.
Now, concerning your comments about revealing the spiritual realm. READ FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. ONE WEEK AGO: "I sought him out, I FOUND HIM, and believed. Unfortunatly, when I sought out the arguments in support of and against, the arguments that were used in support of, as a follower, I could see flaws with, and the arguments against, I had difficulty with."
NoNamesLeft0102 1 year ago
@successissure Not to mention, the lack of evidence that can be used to support the existence of a god, the spiritual realm, and dark entities. Evil? Natural Disasters are just that, natural. Human acts that bring harm against others are just that, Human acts. No evil supernatural cause required to induce them.
Now, I know the whole he reveals himself and follow bit. So did Zeus to those who did that, and if you prefer more modern comparisons, so has Allah. That is not proof, OF YOUR GOD.
NoNamesLeft0102 1 year ago
@successissure Feel free to reply if you can avoid those issues stated, reread the bit between me and propheticman so you don't say the same thing that he did, and come to hear the same bit as I have no interest in repeating myself on one video, and finally, if you are not a christian, state your faith so that I can debate you properly as I've stated before.
NoNamesLeft0102 1 year ago
successissure
I did everything you've suggested here and more. I never saw or heard from any entity, god or otherwise.
And since you believe that there are dark entities lying in wait for us, to control our minds, as you said, then you have to ask why your ghost-god is allowing such powerful, potentially controlling entities to terrorize mankind! Why would he expose such frail humans to such dark powers??

GermanChocolateCake 10 months ago
@successissure When you talk about dark entities do you mean those priests that introduce their cock inside little boys and girls and then are protected by that old rich man in white?
Fangalatic 6 months ago
@prophetic man Second part. Anecdotal evidence concerning your brother, and your ability to heal to heal others. Who and where is the proof for what you claim? And finally, the third part, which still depends on the spiritual realm, which you have yet to provide proof for or a sufficient argument for. The reasons you claim are insufficient. The sperating from their god only works on theists who are on the fence. The dark entities bit falls where the cause is concerned. (continued)
NoNamesLeft0102 1 year ago

NoNamesLeft0102 1 year ago
@NoNamesLeft0102 ASK God yourself to reveal to you the truths of the Spiritual Realm, He will...and the reason why nobody is getting healed and delivered from our emotional mental sicknesses (though an increase in knowledge) is because most are rejecting the true cause of their sicknesses... separation from the True God (Jesus) who wants to heal them...and cast the dark energies and entities out of them that sicken them...

@propheticman “with voices not their own”
Are you qualified to be able to say that without sufficient conditions, one cannot change their voice, and that with physical stresses, that the range would not increase?

NoNamesLeft0102 1 year ago
@propheticman “spend some time in a psychiatric hospital, nobody is getting helped,..just so drugged up by hallucinogens, and hypnotics drugs that they can't function in the real world”
I have. I agree, for the most part, nobody is getting helped, if you exclude having a place that they are safer in, hence why a psychiatric hospital is also called an asylum. But guess what; most of the people in there couldn’t function on the outside without drugs, and if you were in one, you'd know that.
NoNamesLeft0102 1 year ago

@TheAsmodeus2012 All the increae in knowledge and technological advances do is bring God's Judgement upon the world more quickly,..as a world no longer naive, but ignorant and rebellious to the Truths of the true God, Jesus, that they now know, they follow and build the antichrist (antiJesus) kingdoms on earth for the fallen angels/aliens ...they will appear soon to give you advanced technology and advanced knowledge into believing they are the "gods" that created you and love you, but decieve
propheticman 1 year ago
@propheticman I must say I find myself wholly unimpressed by this argument. For one thing, you could just as easily say that knowledge and wisdom by means of reasoned thought and investigation is precisely why the alleged god gave us such abilities. It could then be further argued that if said god does show up, it would likely be to stomp out all the backward-thinking folk like you who fight to stymie any sort of scientific or cultural progress.
"God's gonna get you! Booga-Booga!" Please.

KemaTheAtheist 1 year ago

Car insurance, life insurance, house and property insurance, medical insurance,... what if there really is a Loving Holy God who is here, all around us, who loves and cares for us ...we just ignore His Voice, and works because He asks us to seek Him, and be humble and sorry and ask Him to teach and change our hearts to prepare us for eternal life in heaven ..not ignore and rebel against Him.
successissure 1 year ago
@successissure You do realize that can be viewed the other way around, don't you? If it's such a ubiquitous fact that god exists, then I am merely taking out insurance against the possibility that there is no such god. The presence or influence of such a being can't be tested, and is supposed to be undetectable. In that case, his existence becomes irrelevant. If he exists, you should live your life the best you can, learning from your mistakes. If he doesn't, the same still applies.
