guys i have amd athlon 64x2 4200+ 2.2ghz and geforce 8400gs 512mb, im short on money and i can only upgrade 1 at a time. which one should i upgrade first? its either the processor or video card thanks :)
i need some help on my eeepc 900, i've opened the thing and i can't seem to find where the storage really is. is it the chip above the RAM or the Azurewave PCI express attached inside? some comments would be appreciated, i need to backup my files and i can't seem to figure out that damn thing
i have a eee pc 701SD 8GB with custom installed Windows XP Lite
i want to upgrade the RAM to Kingston 2GB DDR3 1066MHz because its on sale for $34 dollars.. but does anyone know if the 701SD 8GB support DDR3? and 1066MHz?
i know it'll support 2GB DDR2 667 MHz, but the 2GB DDR3 1066MHZ is on SALE! so im thinking of getting that one... someone pls reply!
Heck I have the 904 HA and I put 2 Gig of GSkill F2-5300CL5S-2GBSK in mine. It was a tight fit but it just clears the case lip, since it has a heat spreader on the chip. And it works great. If you are looking for a bit more speed it makes a difference to do the upgrade.
I wish Linus would have done Windows 7 but looking at how long ago this was 7 wasn't available yet. But I would like to see it, since it seems to be a common upgrade. I don't have the SSD however. I got mine with the 120G HDD.
@Zimba9810, @intruderwings -Ummmm YES you can. It has to be flashed over to the flash drive. I just don't know how to do it but there is a write up in the Feb 2010 issue of CPU magazine that explains it. Obviously it's too big an article to quote. Anyway I think that if you disable your storage drive and then boot from DVD to transfer over to the FDD. If I remember the article suggested a 16 Gig FDD. In any case you have the large capacity SSD available to you as well.
i have the 2G Surf (701) eeepc, i installed nlited XP onto it via usb drive. unfortuantly i cant upgrade the 512 RAM cause on the 701 its soldered on.
I like you, and your videos are good, but you seem to make a meal out of everything lol. You just seem clumsy, but you know what you're talking about.
I think the question is how you pronounce the manufactures name I think ASUS sounds a lot better than ASOOS
also you took the easy way out with the disk space anyone could do that best thing to do would be replace the internal SSD and replace with a bigger one.
i think that laptop manufacture can fit in more space... because theres flash disk the size of 89 GB and it's pretty small and ipod touch got 32GB flash in it why not 89 GB? or 32 Gb? or 16? all of these flash disk i'm talking about are small and very fast afordable
thanks. I just bought a ASUS Eeee 904HA and the 2 Gig mem chip but am concerned about opening the case, and in the manual it says to someway disable the boot booster????is that important? thanks
8GB Solid state hard drive XP is about 5 GB on a clean install you would want to Nlite XP thing you would want to remove languages you don't speak keyboards you don't use Outlook express Internet explorer Windows Media player(keep the ability to go to 11) & other things this will take it down to 2GB on a fresh install & use 50MB of RAM(unlike 180MB on normal) this will give a little more room
Good Informative video, but no reason to slam the linux community by stating you are upgrading to xp. You may want to change the heading. It's a choice in OS. I laughed hard when you stated that low disk space is a limitation of the e p c. I can flip this thought on it's head and say this is a limitation of the bloated xp os. You are sort of defeating the whole purpose of having a netbook by dumping money into it and pimping it out with xp. Other than that good job on the video.
Now to properly downgrade to windows you need to use a program called 'NLITE' it will remove the things you don't want before you install Bill Gates' bloatware.
Remember also the machine will not boot as fast., be open to viruses hackers ....
become unreliable and just plain Suck. i just can not think of why I would want to run XP on a 600 Mhz machine.

Why would you want to degrade the EeePC by putting an inferior OS on it.
Out of the Box the Eee can be set up to do 99% of everything 90+% of the population needs to do.
If you insist please get NLite to trim the excess from XP.
The WinXP drivers come on the CD with the EeePC

Heck I have the 904 HA and I put 2 Gig of GSkill F2-5300CL5S-2GBSK in mine. It was a tight fit but it just clears the case lip, since it has a heat spreader on the chip. And it works great. If you are looking for a bit more speed it makes a difference to do the upgrade.

I like you, and your videos are good, but you seem to make a meal out of everything lol. You just seem clumsy, but you know what you're talking about.

I think the question is how you pronounce the manufactures name I think ASUS sounds a lot better than ASOOS
also you took the easy way out with the disk space anyone could do that best thing to do would be replace the internal SSD and replace with a bigger one.

I know. WTF? ASOOS?
eqspec76 2 years ago
ASOOS is the proper way to say it, but some people mispronounce it as Ay-sus.
I agree, it's very odd.
