  • My dad just cracks up at 1:51 when he hits his head.

  • I saw this on saturday and it killed me XD

  • Funniest movie ever made, the flying was done by the great Frank Talman, After the flight through the billboard, Frank landed the aircraft an it was tagged unflyable due to the damage. Great movie, great flying, great airplane!

  • its the only way to fly!!!! Hilarious!!!!

  • 01:50 to 01:56 Ding, to Benjy: "I'm not kidding any longer!, ii's making me----(sees Tyler flop all over and hit his head on a cabinet) **NERVOUS!!*"

Love how Rooney says's (well, screams) the lines, as always. One of a Kind, is Mickey Rooney. <3

  • I remember going to the theater with my parents to see this...its the first time I saw my mother cry from laughing so hard......comedic geniuses

  • This scene is one of my all time favorites. It really just doesn't get any better than this.

  • This movie absolutely cracks me up every time I see it.

  • They're taking off from Rancho Conejo Airport, Thousand Oaks, CA . The airport no longer exists. There are now single family residences in that location.

  • Do you think they could ever assemble such a cast of comedians and star power for a movie today, such as they did for this movie?....I DON'T THINK SO!

  • @pajasa62 They tried and came up the messfest called "Rat Race'. Some movies you cannot duplicate and this is one of them.

  • His natural born flying, looks like my flying when I was first learning how to do straight and level flight. LOL... An old time flyer pre FAR 91.17, guess he neglected to read the FAA Advisory Circular or didn't care.

  • @grissomairport If I had a Twin Beech and a multi rating, I'd fly the wings off it too!

  • one of the funniest damn movies ever made...It STILL make me laugh God bless all of those comedians

  • I remember seeing this in the theater...still one of my favorite comedy's.....it's absolutely crazy

  • @2c1496 I wish I had seen this in a theatre! It's among my favorite comedies. Along side The Great Race and Cat Ballou.

  • Ya just push the button back there marked 'Booze'!! LOL

  • Can't play on mobile device? Since when???

  • Some natrual born flyer!

  • An earlier scene with Backus always cracks me up.

    Backus- "I can`t see. I can`t see!".

Hackett- "Must be an eye cold".

  • One of the true classics to be sure!! All great actors. Never a dull moment either. Made almost 50 years ago! They sure can't do it like they used to!!

  • Funniest movie ever made. and it was 3 hours long???

  • @tracer740 And it felt like it was 5 minutes!

  • @wlipman - It may've 'seemed' like it was only 5 minutes, ...but it 'felt' wonderful! Can't tell you how many times I've enjoyed watching this movie.

  • BEST FUCKIN COMEDY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! I VE SEEN THIS MOVIE LIKE 50 TIMES...CLASSIC COMEDIC ACTORS..COULD NEVER EVER BE REMADE..

  • Jim Backus was GREAT...RIP..."who says this boy can't fly?!!" LMAO....

  • This scene is an example of what's great about this movie - virtually zero wasted sentence of dialogue.

  • Frikken love Jim Backus.

  • This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Love it.

  • My Dad and I love this movie!

  • OMG! When Jim Backus' head slams against the cabinet..., I laughed so hard it makes my stomach hurt!

  • "stop kidding now and make us some drinks"

  • Don't make them so sweet this time!

  • Great stuff here, one of the best movies ever done, classic stuff here!

  • Love the Beech 18

  • Well stop kidding, will ya, and make us some drinks!

  • Mister Magoo says, its the only way to fly.

  • Hilarious scenes! Even more so when you look closely and notice, as Tyler begins asking for a drink, he's still in the takeoff climb! Those edge details are not visible in TV prints nor on the widescreen DVD version. By the way, the 'Rancho Conejo Airport' here was a real one by that name, located in Newbury Park Calif., and that's where those scenes were filmed of the plane buzzing the tower.

  • The best version is the double VHS released in 1992...has all the outtakes and lost footage. It needs to remastered and put on DVD.

And if I ever take up flying, I want him as my instructor! HAHA!!

  • oh ho, Magoo, you've done it again!

  • one of my two favorite scene's of this film

tyler fitzgerad was the best chariter in the movie

  • What can happen to an old fashioned? HAHAHAHAH!!

  • Just the way dear ol,e dad use to make, just press the button marked booooooooooooze.

  • One of the funniest scenes from one of the funniest movies ever made -- enjoy it, stuff like this doesn't happen very often :) RIP Jim Backus, etc.

  • These days it would be "just push the button marked 'open the door to let the Al Queda pilot into the cockpit'"!

  • Just push the button marked booze!

  • This must be my favorite Jim Backus scene!

That and as Thirston Howell: "Oh, Gilligan, can you build me a tax shelter while you're building that hut?"

  • How did Mr Howell get off the island?

  • A true classic comedy. They just don't make them like this anymore. Thanks for posting.

  • I wish my Flight Instructor was that guy.

  • Press the button marked "booze"...Hilarious!!

  • YES!!! And if you've ever known an old pilot...

  • @cbabz307 What can happen with an Old Fashioned? LMAO. Funny stuff.

  • "What can happen to an Old Fashioned...?" LOL

  • It was a Twin Beechcraft, AND the tail section of a Locheed Electra, which looked almost exactly alike, to get around the copyright laws. My best friends father worked on the plane for the film.

  • It was a Beechcraft Model 18 that was used in the movie. The scenes of it flying through the coca cola billboard and through the open hangar were real, not models. A gentleman named Frank Tallman did all of the flying in the film. The studio erected a billboard off the end of the runway at Chino, Ca. for the shot so after he smashed through it and was out of the camera frame he would be over the runway and able to land immediately.

  • The facia of the billboard was made of balsa wood, because its thin, brittle and would cause the least damage to the airplane. The advertising logo was painted on the balsa wood at the last minute. However due to a delay on the set the paint was able to dry prior to the stunt (not the plan) and it resulted in the balsa wood being considerably more resilient than expected doing a fair amount of damage to the airplane. Theres some movie trivia for ya, if only I could remeber useful things.

  • Will never forget seeing that movie in the 5th grade with my buddies, the Dad who took us laughed harder than anyone. Classic!!

  • Brilliant!

  • Jim Backus- "That boy's a natural born flier, that's all." So was Frank Tallman actually flying that Beech 18.

  • "Just hit the button back there marked 'booze!'" I use that line whenever I need (or want) a drink.

Great movie. Hilarious from start to finish.

  • This is the funniest movie of all time... I've seen it over 30 times... never gets old!

  • My favorite movie. The gas station fight is STILL brilliant!

  • Feet on the rudder.. got it.. feet on the rudder.. that's not say.. Who says this boy can't fly this old plane!!! LOL

  • "...the way dear old DAD used to!" A simple, but classic line I've repeated nearly every time I've done something, well, the way dear old DAD used to!

  • look at Buddy's face at 1:08 - 1:16!!!!!........CLASSIC FACE OF FEAR INTO COMEDY!!!

  • hahaha absolutely. i loved him in the little mermaid

  • i thought he was GREAT in THE LOVE BUG

  • OMG, Jim Backus was a great actor. Yeah, we'll remember him as Mr. Howell on Gilligan's Island, but this brief shot was so bloody funny and he had a great dramatic turn in "Rebel Without a Cause" with James Dean. Here, of course, he's an absolute riot. Thanks for posting!!!

  • I wish I could see a longer version of the clip, starting when they find Backus sleeping on the pool table and wake him up. :D :D

  • Hahahaha!!!!!

  • great film. could u upload the scene where milton bearle turns ethel merman upside down and shakes the keys out of her

  • Now that was a funny scene!!!

  • Priceless!

  • Funniest film ever

"Well stop kidding will ya and make us some booze"

    Old fashions.

  • Absolutely the funniest movie ever. God Bless Jim Backus!!

  • Maybe the best comedy movie of all time.

  • What could happen to an Old Fashioned?

  • I love it

  • i love it

  • i Love it
